    huh.  the  irritation  in  her  tone  combined  with  the  bizarre  hobbies  she  lists  cue  her  into  a  few  simple  facts.  one,  this  girl  knows  harlow.  two,  not  only  does  she  know  harlow,  but  she  seems  to  have  somewhat  a  distaste  for  her.  and  finally,  three,  that  distaste  is  likely  met  with  equal  distaste  and  perhaps  even  antagonism.  which  perhaps  accounts  for  the  REASON  the  other  girl  is  looking  at  as  though  she  should  take  a  long  walk  off  a  short  pier.  her  lips  twitch,  a  small  hint  of  a  smile  at  figuring  the  whole  thing  out  with  the  information  on  hand,  before  she  decides  to  make  her  discoveries  known.  (  she’s  not  a  narcissist  ;  she  just  LOVES  to  know  that  all  the  work  she’s  doing  is  WORKING.  )  “  sorry.  ”  she’s  not,  but  she  understands  it’s  a  necessary  pleasantry  in  body  swap  mishaps.  “  you’ve  got  the  wrong  girl.  ”  she  assumes  that’ll  be  a  relief  and  then  an  equal  concern.  (  a  part  of  her  almost  wants  to  keep  the  whole  charade  going, as  she  often  does  with  people  who  mistake  her  for  harlow  for  a  few  moments,  but  she  doesn’t  see  anything  she  could  gain  from  this  interaction  that  she  doesn’t  already  have.  so,  naturally,  she  casts  it  aside.  )  “  aidy.  ”  another  pleasantry,  but  there’s  no  olive  branch.  no  hand  extended,  for  now.  until  she  can  tell  that  this  girl  is  worth  the  energy.

    drugs  have  a  CURIOUS  effect  on  the  human  body.  it’s  nothing  she’s  looking  to  get  into,  there’s  more  than  enough  research  into  the  field  of  hard  narcotics.  what  she  cares  about  is  their  effect  on  the  already  disordered  mind.  she’s  not  interested  in  fragile  college  students  looking  for  a  release  (  she  doesn’t  have  a  psychology  degree  but  she’s  into  her  third  textbook  now  with  countless  papers  piled  high  on  her  desk.  she  could  pick  them  out  of  a  line  up  if  she  needed  to.  )  she  wants  to  see  a  person  unravel.  she  can  dissect  as  many  brains  as  she  likes,  but  eventually,  it  stops  being  valuable.  it’s  physical.      jade  has  given  her  an  appreciation  for  what  you  can’t  see,  touch,  or  feel.  for  the  rust  on  the  cogs  of  the  human  psyche.  fortunately  for  her,  she  seems  to  have  stumbled  upon  her  ideal  case  study.  the  girl  is  clearly  affected,  glassy  eyes  and  unfocused  words,  but  she’s  morning  fascinated  by  the  vial  between  her  fingers.  (  it’s  fascinating  to  watch  someone  play  with  the  object  of  their  own  destruction,  be  it  what  this  girl  has  taken  or  something  else  entirely.  )  “  are  you  always  so  RED?  ”  she’ll  play  along,  coming  to  sit  beside  her.  “  what  you  got  there?  ”  her  eyes  flare  with  EXAGGERATED  interest.  anything  to  get  what  she  needs.

    she’s  not  sure  WHICH  one  of  her  victims  it  is.  a  witch,  she  assumes,  with  the  ability  to  curse  her.  or  person  with  powerful  friends.  (  she’s  usually  good  at  vetting  her  victims  for  importance  ;  it’s  possible  she  could  have  missed  something,  but  not  likely.  )  none  the  less,  the  unfortunate  truth,  is  that  she’s  being  haunted.  she  assumes  it’s  supposed  to  strike  fear  into  her  very  core  but  it  doesn’t.  she  already  killed  them,  she’s  not  particularly  concerned  with  what  they  can  do  from  the  afterlife.  she  is,  however,  vexed.  they’re  interrupting  her  work  with  their  inferences  and  she’s  tired  of  it.  if  anything,  it’s  a  comfort  to  know  she  murdered  someone  so  annoying.  “  so,  how  much  is  it  going  to  be?  ”   money  is  hardly  the  problem,  and  she  doesn’t  RESENT  the  large  pool  of  witches  san  francisco  has  to  offer,  but  she’s  ready  for  this  to  be  over.

    “  in  principle,  yes.  ”  there  are  few  people  she  wouldn’t  kill  if  the  situation  called  for  it.  but  she  sees  no  reason  to  carry  her  kills  out  without  purpose.  “  if  he  needed  to  die,  i’d  kill  him.  ”  as  casual  as  talking  about  the  weather.  “  as  of  now,  there’s  nothing  i  could  gain  from  killing  him  above  anyone  else.  it’s  pointless  and  it  draws  attention.  ”  questions  from  avalon,  questions  from  aster  likely.  it’s  unnecessary.         @trvshdad

    “  no.  ”  it’s  an  extreme  measure  she  has  no  need  to  take.  harlow  isn’t  expendable.  v  wouldn’t  have  invited  her  to  the  table  and  allowed  her  to  house  the  entrance  to  hell  if  he  didn’t  trust  her.  “  we  need  her.  she’s  a  good  demon.  she  has  a  worthy  place  at  the  table.  ”  she  values  that.  she  values  the  longevity  of  her  current  position,  and  harlow  is  part  of  the  inner  circle.  she’s  trusted.  brutal,  ruthless.  (  if  war  ever  comes,  they’ll  need  her  to  plow  through  the  masses  with  a  sword.  she’s  nurtured  forethought  since  she  became  herself.  )  “  we’d  have  to  work  something  out  about  her  face.  ”  her  face,  my  face,  this  face.  “  i’m  not  letting  it  go,  it’s  clear  she  isn’t  either.  we’d  negotiate.  settlements,  piece  by  piece,  until  we  were  both  satisfied.  ”  they  wouldn’t  dismantle  the  balance  of  this  arrangement  they  have  with  vessel  ownership.          @deathlyharlows

how do you feel about your mother?

    “  she  was  overprotective.  ”  stifling,  she’d  think.  “  she’s  better  off  in  avalon,  where  she  belongs.  ”  she  prefers  dullness,  stillness.  that’s  always  been  clear.  she  won’t  fault  it,  if  anything  --  she  appreciates  the  lack  of  interference.  “  i’m  sure  she’s  built  something  that  suits  her.  that’s  the  predisposition.  happiness,  wanting.  ”  more  often  than  not.  that’s  what  her  books  tell  her  about  models  of  self  sacrifice  vs  self  reliance.  her  mother  fits  quite  neatly  into  a  confusion  of  terms  ;  unaware  of  what  self  reliance  entails  without  intruding  on  other’s  modes  of  living.

    “  v.  ”  the  answer  is  given  with  the  same  montone  objectivity  as  per  usual,  unphased  by  the  image  of  the  two  hanging  off  a  metaphorical  cliff.  “  his  long  term  plans  align  more  with  mine.  ”  she  was  a  demon,  a  knight  of  hell,  because  of  him  after  all.  “  aster’s  sweet,  but  he’s  clumsy.  he’d  get  in  my  way.  besides,  we  don’t  need  the  king  falling  so  early  into  his  reign.  ”  it’s  simple  strategy.  she  sees  the  court  as  chess  pieces,  slowly  falling  into  disarray  and  breaking  the  rules.  they  certainly  can’t  have  that.  “  the  circles  would  break  down.  without  a  king  to  guide  them,  they’d  fall  to  their  old  unorganised  methods.  naturally,  many  would  try  to  reinstate  order  as  they  saw  fit.  they’d  kill  until  they  were  killed,  and  so  the  tyrants  would  go.  on  and  on.  no.  ”  she  shakes  her  head,  topples  the  king  on  her  mental  chessboard  with  a  push  of  her  index  finger.  “  he’s  the  obvious  choice.  ”      @vurasisms  @ofsilvrwings

   there was a LOT to process. lizzie wasn’t dead, and yes he was still processing that. every time she did something new he thought he’d never see again, it was like a FLUTTER in his chest. and they were getting married. just thinking of it brought a smile to his face, it made him dopey. which was what allowed the moment of someone spilling coffee all over his shirt. will could deal with the fucking heat but fuck, he liked that shirt. so there he was in the bathroom, trying to clean it off. maybe if he hadn’t been so distracted he would have remembered to lock the door behind him. “shit.” he wasn’t a fan of people seeing his scars ( that was reserved for only a certain blonde ). it was on him for not locking the door but still— SHIT. 

    “  you  look  squeamish.  ”  her  curiosity  had  gotten  the  better  of  her.  when  she  saw  the  door,  barely  even  on  the  latch,  she  opened  it.  she  wants  to  know  what  kind  of  person  resides  behind  it,  what  their  motivations  are.  that’s  become  her  new  task.  with  an  eternity  ahead  of  her,  and  her  new  soul  collecting  routine,  she’s  had  to  become  good  at  more  than  just  anatomy.  she  knows  all  the  ways  to  kill  someone  quickly,  slowly,  painfully,  easily.  her  own  research  coupled  with  the  time  she  spent  with  tortured  souls  in  hell  had  served  her  well.  she’s  almost  perfect  at  the  physicality  of  murder.  but  it’s  the  luring,  robbing  thread  of  personal  psychology  to  her  kills  that  she  lacks.  interactions  like  this  are  her  new  experiments.  (  coupled  with  her  new  internship,  she’s  becoming  a  fully  rounded  demon,  in  all  forms.  )  “  what’s  that?  ”  an  item  of  clothing,  she  can  deduce.  she  notices  the  scars  when  she  looks  over  him  and  takes  note  of  his  posture.  she  tries  to  connect  the  guard  of  his  form   and  the  expletive  falling  from  his  lips  to  the  models  in  the  psychology  textbooks  she’s  been  perusing.  (  if  she  were  to  make  an  amateur  deduction,  she’d  say  he’s  closed.  for  criticism,  for  interaction,  for  relation.  )  “  ever  heard  of  bleach?  ”  she’s  careful  enough  to  rarely  see  a  stain  on  her  clothes,  but  she’s  always  prepared.
