“thank god.” upon seeing your sleeping figure in one of the study rooms, vernon finally manages to catch his breath.
you weren't answering his calls and he had been running around campus frantically trying to find you. so he called your roommate (while also accidentally waking her from deep slumber) , who told him that you had spent the last few days cooped up in the library studying for finals.
closing the door behind him, he notices the empty cans of coffee and unfinished cup of instant ramen surrounding you. a concerned frown creased his forehead. he knew you were studying hard, but he didn't know you were this stressed.
vernon decides to tidy the room a little more, picking up the scattered notes and keeping your stationary back into your bag. “babe?” he mumbles softly, finger tapping on your shoulder. you yawn in response, incoherent words rolling off your lips. he sits next to you, fingers intertwining with yours. “you shouldn't be overworking yourself like this.” he mumbles, heart stinging a little when he sees your dark eye circles.
you don't say anything. it wasn't until then you realised how exhausted you were. you had been running on caffeine and ramen for 15 hours straight, attempting to memorise weeks worth of material. “vernon...i'm tired. want to go home.”
he nods, before pressing a soft kiss to your temple. sliding the straps of your bag onto his chest, he gently helps you up and wraps your arms around his neck. he lifts you up easily and your legs automatically wrap around his waist, head finding a comfortable spot. despite knowing his ticklish spot, you lazily press a kiss to the crook of his neck. “thank you.”
he flinches, before letting out a soft chuckle as he flipped the light switch off.
