I'm hearing the episode will be 42 to 45 minutes!
About time! You can't fit all that needs to happen in a measly 30 minutes.
My predictions for the season finale / Episode 8
It will open with a flashback to Jod's past, showing multiple callbacks to things he said earlier in the season (including his planet being dusty, always going for the off switch, "You have a powerful imagination", "Your focus determines your reality", etc.)
Jod will be brought before the Supervisor, who will not be Rennod, but but the child of Rennod's former concubine and the first mate. The story will come out that they betrayed Rennod after realizing that they could live peacefully on this planet with everything they could ever want or need, but Rennod just wanted to plunder it so they staged a mutiny
Rennod will prove to have been a Weequay
Wim will echo Jod's advice to him about making his life the one he wants to live
At the conclusion, Jod will end up in At Attin's prison, bringing his journey full-circle. However, the prison that he now finds himself in will be well-lit and comfortable and not at all like the brig where the kids first saw him, and it will be pointed out to him by the safety droids that he will be provided with everything he needs
since skelly crews final is about to come out I would like to drop my obscure theory as to who I think Jod might be based on mostly vibes, and a few character traits.
I think he's Jaybo Hood, this kid from the clone wars episode mystery of a thousand moons.
now, at first I was just like "haha their names are kind of similar," but our first introduction to this kid is him having reprogramed a bunch of droids to be his servants, which would align with how Jod treats droids. not to mention his affinity for droids could be a sign of early force sensitivity, much like Anakin in episode I.
secondly, there was his line in episode 4 where he says the air taste like ashy dust and reminds him of his home planet. Jaybo's planet Iego as we saw it in the clone wars was surrounded by a lazer web that destroyed anything trying to leave which would certainly leave a strong impression of ashy dust. As a bonus note, Iego is part of the ash worlds sector. Coincidence? I mean probably, but it is fun to think about.
As a third point, there are similarities that can be drawn between Iego's moon web and the barrier. Star wars is a fan of it's narrative repetition. I think putting him in a position where he's trapped on a planet by a planet wide security system would fall into the "it's like poetry, it rhymes" category.
Now onto things mentioned in interviews.
Jude Law has spoken a few times about how Jod didn't really have a childhood; it was snatched away from him and all he sees when he looks at the kids are small adults. He doesn't understand why they can't just survive, why they're so inexperienced. He has no real concept of innocence.
That would align with a kid like Jaybo who has had to take what he can to get in a pretty rough situation. Not to mention his introduction is sending his reprogrammed battle droid out to the jedi with the message "The venerable Jaybo Hood requests an audience" (venerable beings someone accorded a great deal of respect especially because of age wisdom or character) despite the fact he's a ten year old kid.
Jude Law also speaks several times about drawing inspiration from Han Salo for Jod.
if you look at the behind the scenes notes on wikipidia it says Jaybo Hood was described by Dave Filoni as "a cross between a young Anakin and a young Han Solo."
None of this is really enough for a full theory, I just think its fun to think about. Jod could be someone from legends, someone entirely original, a jedis kid, or somehow a Palpatine clone (given the prevalence of project necromancer in recent media.) Really I just hope they give us some kind of payoff to explain some of their writing decisions.
Okay I know we all want Jod to suffer for his crimes and many don’t believe it’s possible for him to be redeemed but do you remember what fandom we’re in:
is that your freaking jedi-sona? that’s cringe (/lh)
I really love the way that SM-33 switched sides during the “claimsies” argument because to me it was a reminder that for all the fun the show’s had with 33 being beholden to the pirate code, he’s still fundamentally a Star Wars Droid.
Throughout the show we’ve seen that 33 is not just thematically pirate-coded, but he’s also often been bound by rules in a way that is fairly common for robots in media. He doesn’t remember “no At Attin”, he attacks the kids when reminded of his orders, etc. While this is behaviour that is normal for a typical robot, 33 isn’t just a robot— he’s specifically a Star Wars droid, and Star Wars has always shown droids to be sentient beings capable of “emotional” attachments.
So of course 33 accepted that claimsies was close enough, because fundamentally he wanted to be on the kids side. He’s been waiting the whole show for viable reasons to attack Jod because despite being constrained to his programming, he still has his own personality and opinions.
TLDR 33 isn’t just a robot, he’s a droid who’d been waiting for the chance to have a go at Jod
Thoughts on what might happen in Ep. 8
Possible Skeleton Crew spoilers ahead!
I think everyone who’s saying “damn, I was really hoping for Jod redemption but it seems too late for that now :(” has forgotten which franchise they’re watching.
Like guys this is Star Wars, we’re in “it’s never too late to do the right thing” and “there’s always hope” central. These are only 4 of many examples and honestly Jod’s actions aren’t even touching what some other characters in Star Wars have done. Do I definitely 100% think Jod’s going to be redeemed? No, but there’s definitely still a chance and we shouldn’t write it off

Comparing all Jods good Actions against his Bad as of Episode 7: Episode 1 he ordered a man to be thrown out of the airlock. He (potentially) Lied about being a Jedi to gain the children's favor. Risked himself to go back for SM-33 at the spaceport when he really didn't have to. When Kymm said "You wouldn't shoot me in front of the children" he did hesitate and tried to convince Kymm to call off the police first.... He taught the kids to fire on X-wings. He told them the truth about himself "I'm just like you! I'm lost! I'm Alone!" He did steal Wim's dataries < but later used them to buy the entire herd of Eopies in exchange FOR the kids, indirectly saving the Troik clan. He pat Neel on the head when he hugged him and pulled Wim into the embrace. He jumped in to deactivate SM-33 when he was trying to tear them limb from limb. He laid down some Qui-gon jinn wisdom when Wim was crying homesick and Used the force to cheer him up He later then yelled at the kids in the luxury suite on Lanupa (To be fair pirates with murderous intent for them all were closing in fast while the kids were goofing off) He stopped Neel from falling down the trap door in Rannods secret lair. But later that same episode he did refill a chamber with acid while the people were still inside. ( Still, they were breaking in to kill them all, and characters we heard curse his name survived to be seen in later episodes) He challenged Fern for Captaincy in a duel to the death holding her at knifepoint. < He apologized for this, never hurt her, and gave her every chance to yield. He even sounded SUPER relieved when she finally did. Jod Shoots Brutus point-blank in the face while he is restrained (Brutus did just finish saying he was going to kill Jod either way treasure or no treasure) Jod Kills SM-33 (droid heads come off all the time! He's fine!) He doesn't kill the bilge rat living in his head he just shoves it to the side. Worst of all he Orders the kids to comply with all his demands at saber point or he threatens to make good on his claims to carve up their parents in front of them...calling them unbearable, dismissing them as weak, sheltered, spoiled little brats. (That's a hard one to come back from)
On that last point - I wonder if that was said to him when he was younger, and so he is projecting...
I'm curious...please reblog to get the word out!
I'm curious. I want to see what you people think.
This isn't referring to any chance of redemption for Jod, disregarding that completely. Just out of curiosity, just for kicks and see what everybody really thinks...what do you all think Jod will do in the next episode when it picks up?
A) He's going to attack the kids and their parents, and subsequently get stunned by the droids. B) The droids will see him as a threat and kill him. C) He's going to attack, but then stops because he remembers something about his past (cue flashbacks) and will decide not to go through with it
What do you think Jod will do in episode 8?
A
B
C
D - other option - please tell me what you think in replies/reblogs
E - I don't really care, just wanna see the results.
Please help me reblog after you vote so we can get the word out. I am really interested to see what y'all think. Making this only a day because well, the episode airs in a few days so.
Wim's "ATTACK!!!!" was so out of nowhere I legit jumped in my seat - before proceeding to laugh so hard my ribs are still aching 🤣🤣🤣
Also, the parents' message and them working SO hard for their kids' safe return made me tear up.
Still holding out for Jod to not end as a villain. Didn't escape my notice that he got out of the cuffs as soon as he wanted to, spent a rather extraordinary amount of effort to convince his crew to rejoin him rather than punishing all of them for their mutiny, and frankly he doesn't need the kids so he could have dispatched them at any time, but he didn't. Going into such detail to threaten the kids isn't a great look, though, I'll admit. Still reading him as a morally gray character. I've said before that I think an alt-Kanan who remained alone in the wild had to have been at least part of the inspiration for Jod's character, and I see a lot of Hondo in him too.
Can't WAIT to see how things pan out with the finale!!!
JUDE LAW as Jod Na Nawood Skeleton Crew 1.07 "We're Gonna Be in So Much Trouble" Dir. Lee Isaac Chung
I don't think jod is going to hurt the kids or their parents. I think he might try to pretend he's a Jedi again to get the adults to cooperate. They don't know that the Jedi and the old republic fell so they might buy it. I do however think it'll all fall apart when he tries to meet the supervisor so he can land the pirate ship.
I'm still holding out that the supervisor is droid / computer of sort and it can either go two ways. He tries to take over At attin by controlling the supervisor (so he becomes the main bad guy) or there he accidently activates like a contingency plan which will have a terrible outcome for the people who live on At Attin. We still don't know what the great work is, and why their society seems oddly authoritative. But if At Achrann is to go buy it probably isn't good.
When the prequels came out, I would often do burned CDs with songs I listened to at the time (Very unrelated to the plots but I would always sneak in a song from the scores) for my personal enjoyment.
I haven't done anything similar in a while but this kriffing show has stolen my heart, especially with the goodest boy in the galaxy - Neel.
I picked songs that remind me of him and/or songs that cheers me up.
Hope you like this!
PS. There are at least two Easter egg songs.
