One thing I really like about the Netflix DMC series — Unless they decide to make Nero DanLadys son, which honestly I wouldn't put it past them — is that since Dante is voiced by Johnny Young Bosch, it sort of implies that Virgil's son is gonna sound just like his brother and I dunno! I just think it's a nice thought.
After seeing some random freecam videos, I have noticed that a lot of Leon's facial animations are purposefully made frownier and more "stiff" in a way whenever the camera is actually on him
There are many moments where the camera cuts away from him and his face snaps back into what I'm assuming is the actual (or closer to) input of the facial motion capture from Nick
Let my boy show more emotions than just frowns!
thinking about leon being 21 in re2. like he JUST became legally allowed to drink and yet he ended up so hungover he missed his first day. either he was way too eager or he had a problem with alcohol even as a minor :(
I love how everyone learns Robert's real name first and his hero name second, while he learns everyone's hero name first and their real names second. It's like they're moving in opposite directions, and all it did was bring them closer, like walking towards one another.
Thinking a bout Tanselle Too Tall, who fled shortly after Dunk was arrested. She left his shield with Steely Pate, but she doesn't know the outcome of his trial. For all she knows, the shy boy from the tourney may have lost a hand and foot or died in a trial by combat because he stepped in to defend her. I really hope to see the two reunited someday. The sight of him may just absolve her of a terrible guilt, I imagine she's been carrying.
OMG BUT- OMG BUT- GRACE POV ONLY RETURNING AFTER SO LONG BECAUSE- BECAUSE SHE PLEADS TO REJOIN AND KEEP GOING
HER LAST POV ENDING AFTER LEON KILLED EMILY AND SHE TOLD HIM SHE QUIT AND WALKED AWAY
SHE BECOMES A POV PROTAG AGAIN WHEN SHE CHOOSES TO STAAAAAY
AHHHHHHHhhHhHhhHhhhhHhhhHhh
a little detail i noticed
I really want Grace to see a photo of rookie-age Leon. I dunno why! I just think she'd be a bit taken aback by the day and night of him, and it could inspire some really interesting dialogue.
Ooo! Ooo! What if the DLC ends with Leon's side of the phone call with Grace at the end of Requiem? I imagine they'd probably pull something like this: Leon: I feel great. The Doctors still want to run a few more tests, but so far, there appear to be no negative side effects to Elpis.
Grace (o.s): And Sherry's okay?
Leon: Better than okay. She's back to work. They couldn't keep her down if they tried.
Grace (o.s): Oh, good, I'm so glad.
Leon: How's the little one?
Grace (o.s): Emily? Yeah, she's doing great.
Leon: Last I heard, she wouldn't stop talking about you. Grace (o.s): Yeah, I'm actually teaching her to read...
-her boss walks in-
Boss (o.s): Grace...Grace! Where's that report? Grace (o.s): Sorry!
Leon: ...That's good to hear, my youngest actually just started-- Grace (o.s): --Leon, gotta go catch up soon. -hangs up- Leon: Grace? ...Huh, well, I'm sure it's nothing to get hung up about. And they leave us with that bombshell. No elaboration, just the implied existence of a couple of kids, and they never say with whom, just to drive everyone nuts.
And Leon's one-liner at the end is funny because Grace hung up on him, and he's not bothered, but it doubles as words spoken to the audience who absolutely would be hung up on the casual mention of his kids, like wait WHAT?!?! ... Was it ever truly funny if I had to explain my own joke? Writing quips is hard (╥﹏╥) ⁽ᴵ ʰᵒᵖᵉ ᵗʰᵉʳᵉ ᵃʳᵉ ʰᶦᵈᵈᵉⁿ ˢᶦᵈᵉ ᵉᶠᶠᵉᶜᵗˢ ᵗᵒ ᴱˡᵖᶦˢ, ˢᵒ ʷᵉ ᶜᵃⁿ ᵍᵉᵗ ᵃ ᵇᵃᵈᵃˢˢ ʷᵃˡᵏᶦⁿᵍ ᵇᶦᵒʷᵉᵃᵖᵒⁿ, ᴸᵉᵒⁿ⁾ What? Who said that?
I'm scared to invoke the wrath of the warshippers on all sides, but I had some thoughts about Leon's ring!
I think it is fair to assume it is a wedding ring. As for who it belongs to, I find myself liking the idea of Leon and Claire being married more and more because, in a way, it makes the protagonists of the first and second games all family. Imagine Claire and Leon sharing wedding rings, and they gift Sherry the one on her pinky to match. With them all holding hands and walking off into a new dawn at the end of 2 Remake, that sentiment would hit so much harder from a writing standpoint. Also, brother-in-law Chris Redfield is just so, so, so good for the dialogue potential alone!
I don't necessarily agree that Ada isn't the kind to settle down. Especially at this point in their lives. All she ever wanted was to be free, right? I believe, without a shadow of a doubt, that at one point, Ada and Leon had been getting it on all the time in between missions. This is how we can all still win, but I feel like, with the kind of life she's lived… y'know, never really knowing who she's working for. She's probably wanted in most states and literally couldn't settle down even if she wanted to.
Another theory out there suggests Leon's love interest could be a new character we've never met before, and I think if this turns out to be the case, then one thing is for certain. That character will absolutely be killed as the catalyst that kicks off a new story for Leon.
It would be pretty cool if Elpis has some more hidden sci-fi mechanics attached to it, and everyone who has taken it now has some latent potential, like they gain a healing factor, Wolverine's style, or they are immortal, Captain Jack Harkness style, which would be the perfect antithesis of a zombie virus. It's in their main characters now; they could do anything they wanted with it, and I think that carries a lot of really cool story potential!
Dunk is the big brother Egg always wanted, and Egg is the brother Dunk never had, and I have to aahhhhhhh!
I've had a profound thought if anyone would care to listen! Egg asks Dunk if his name is short for Duncan, he says it is, but that's not true. He's only ever known himself to be called Dunk; he doesn't know what his given name would have been, so it is in this moment that Egg gives him a true name. Later in life, Egg will name his firstborn son in honor of his dearest friend. Egg will have named his son after Ser Duncan, but in truth, it is a name that he had given to them both.
Fun little editing detail. Around the 15-minute mark of the second episode, Dunk leaves his shield with Tanselle to paint.
Then, later in the same episode, when he's looking to buy some armor and has to sell Sweetfoot to cover the costs, he's walking around with his shield again, even though it's still with Tanselle.
I love little moments like this, though, because you can still see all the thought and care that's gone into it.
Even though the story has Tanselle painting over the chalice, it looks here like they accounted for the continuity error by removing the chalice. The shield in these scenes looks blank... Like on the first night, it's been sanded clean and returned to him, and she will resume work on the morrow.
Ok so in the books, Egg has Maekar’s personal sigil ring or whatever tucked in his boot so that if Dunk or Egg ever get into a life or death situation they won’t take the latter.
HOWEVER by changing the fact that Maekar does NOT give permission for Egg to squire for Dunk means that a) Maekar is a stagnant character rather than dynamic and instead of learning from his past mistakes (and giving Dunk and Egg a get-out-of-jail-free card) he attempts to make another mistake and b) THEY DONT HAVE THAT GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD unless Egg like stole it?? Which it was on his dad’s hand how tf did he steal it??
I hope someday we get to see Egg teaching Dunk how to read.
