off topic: I sorta have this fear of Tom being cast as Remus Lupin/Sirius Black in the HP TV Series S3 bc I know he's a huge fan of the books/films so I wonder if he would want to be involved in the show in some form

I would love to see him in any HP role but sadly that is not going to happen.

Tom always leaves me speechless with how talented he is. He’s on another level; there are actors who know how to act, and then there’s him with all these extra skills; the guy is incredible.

I really want him to work with acclaimed and well-known directors and filmmakers on movies that are exciting and unique. I think this should be his priority at this stage of his career.

And I hope he gets those opportunities because I think he wants the same thing, I just don’t trust his agents. Paul King and Jason Bateman are well-known and acclaimed directors though so there is that.

Didn't he also say he was developing something with Thomas Vintenberg, a very acclaimed indie Director. I hope he keeps up with this approach. With his own production company he can develop/put together his own things and will not depend on what his agents will bring to him

i hope the fred movie is good and everything works out, i think it could genuinely be something great! it makes me a lil sad to see how many fans are being negative about it, which i understand the concern but it wouldn't hurt to have some optimism lol anyway i appreciate your positivity around here :)

I understand the concern too, even the ones that think he should do a project like The Partner first.

I'm on the positive side because I think the team they put together for Fred is great, they have been working on this for years now.

TBH he has worked his ass off to promote this movie, posting or not is his choice, I don't care. Sometimes fans/stans asked for too much, He is a human being not a puppet

Nah, the main problem with Chaos Walking was Liman. He has always been a chaotic director and his projects often go over budget and have to be rescued in post by other directors. With stories with simple plots like Mr & Mrs Smith or Bourne, you can do same day rewrites and obtain good results, but in a scifi movie with a high concept, the constant change of the script weighed down on the overall structure. I'm just glad that Lionsgate dumped it right when most theaters were closed due to COVID and that Tom was able to avoid doing press for it. Critics were not able to hark on it being a box office bomb due to all those circumstances

The problems with TCR are also associated with the main force behind the show Akiva. He has just not been turning top material in the last 15 years and he couldn't harmonize with the fantastic auteur directors that were hired for it.

I'm glad that Tom has talked about being more thoughtful with the writing and development process before giving the green light to his new projects. A project can look great at a distance, but the details really matter for films and shows

TCR was the example of not having a good show runner. Too many directors, several with zero TV experience. TCR needed to be edited and be 8 episodes not 10. But also the marketing was horrendous, they didn't give the critics the entire series for them to review but even worse Apple didn't allow them to talk about or ask questions about the disorder aspect, they treated that part as a Marvel type of secret, so dumb.

Many critics that reviewed bomb the show, then when watched the 10 episodes, changed their minds, but It was too late. Nice that people keep discovering the show and appreciate it

I just watched chaos walking for the first time a couple weeks ago after avoiding it for years and honestly I was expecting it to be way worse than it actually is lol. yeah it’s not a great movie but I do think word of mouth hurt it tremendously. behind the scenes that movie went wrong in every way it possibly could which also made the whole thing messy and mentally exhausting. I’m sure if there’s one movie tom regrets making, it’s that one lol.

Tom was pretty excited while filming it, but I believe he was not well cared, he looked exhausted, he broke his nose and then the reshoots, they were scheduled between The Devil All The Time and Far From Home promo, he also got sick, I remember his brothers and his dad visited him, because Dom said he was not okay, could be the reshoots, his relationship not working or the breakup happened, the worse scenario.

So many actors have had projects that don't work out or had issues behind the scenes. Tom now is in a great moment, I hope Fred is fun, funny and lighthearted. Not every biopic has to have a big drama behind. He was heartbroken and lost when his sister left, but because of this he decided to give it a try in Hollywood. He was called not good enough to be a leading man, weird face, average dancing, like not a good singer either. But he got this background dance routine in a movie, It was so good that it was highlighted in the movie and after that he became an actor/dancer that the public wanted to see more and he didn't disappoint. He worked hard but also he lived a quiet private life without any major scandal. Fred could be a celebration of his legacy, hope It works for Tom.

Not doing Chaos Walking was more about Tom working too much not about the project itself, he told him he needed more breaks.

By the way Chaos Walking on paper was a great project, great cast, great director, the script writer was a good one. The problem started because there was a clash between the Director, the writer and the producers. Another problem, They didn't schedule reshoots in advance, so when they wanted to do them, the cast was busy. What hurt the movie the most were the comments from a Lionsgate executive, saying the movie was unreleasable, a stupid comment that hunted the movie.

For me the movie was fine, the biggest mistake was the zero chemistry between Tom and Daisy, obviously they were cast based on their popularity.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I know I keep harping on Tom not getting a producer credit but when I read stuff like that I'm still just baffled.

Tom ad-libbing that line became Destin's entire guiding direction for the whole film.

I realize Tom is not some poor mistreated underdog that needs sticking up for. He's obviously getting paid crazy well and will be just fine.

But I'm still so dumbfounded and outraged on his behalf that he did so much creative work on this film but didn't get the credit.

I was also listening to the Josh Horowitz interview and Tom said that it was his initial idea to have Spidey go through a metamorphasis and Tom's reasoning is because his version of Spidey never had an origin story shown on screen. So this was a way to show how his Spidey dealt with those changes.

And I just don't think Tom gets enough credit for all he's accomplished. I really want him to get an RDJ deal on the next go around plus the producer credit he deserves.

There's no one in any corner of Hollywood that should balk that he doesn't deserve it.

No one, and I mean NO ONE is doing it like Thomas Stanley Holland.

I agree with you, one project a year is the perfect balance, both for Tom and for us fans. Especially if he manages to organize his projects well and focus more on indie films, since the shoots don't require as much time. Anyway, I hope he has more projects lined up beyond the ones we already know about, because so far we’ve only had updates on The Partner and the Fred Astaire biopic. Honestly, I’d love for this year's smaller project to be something different, not a Marvel movie, after so many blockbusters, I’d really like to see a different kind of work from him next year.

I hope for The Winner, American Speed or Burnt, And the project in development he mentioned with director Thomas Vintenberg.

They didn’t mention anything about it at sdcc

If they're planning to keep the December 2027 release date, they need to start pretty soon

Tom lost a lot of weight during the press tour. I don't know if it's due to the traveling and the hectic schedule, or if he's already getting his physique ready for the Fred Astaire role. But if it's the latter, I wonder if he's really going to film Secret Wars later this year, considering Peter needs to be bigger and stronger. 👀

Tom has talked about this matter very often, he loses weight very easily, being in a press tour for weeks, for sure didn't allow him to work out or eat properly.

On the other hand, it will make sense if stops doing weight lifting and does more cardio, Pilates, yoga, better for his body in preparation for his dance rehearsal.

For Secret Wars, He doesn't need to bulk up, I doubt he will do shirtless scenes like in BND.
