Save the Date! April 11–12th, 2026: HermitCraft Charity Weekend benefitting Gamers Outreach
Mark your calendars now for the HermitCraft charity stream weekend benefitting Gamers Outreach on April 11th and 12th, 2026!
Meeting up with my friends the last couple years to entertain y'all and help raise so much for children's hospitals has helped me appreciate how caring our community can be!
If you'd like to learn about the impact of past #hermitcraft charity events, check out this update from @gamersoutreach.org at https://gamersoutreach.org/hermitcraft-continues-to-make-big-impact/
Joe: [Chatter] says, "The [mcytblrsexymen] poll isn't supposed to be about real life Joe Hills, but I appreciate the effort."
Joe: The thing is, like, you know, when you talk about like hyper-dimensional monsters, like out of Lovecraft or whatever, where you can only perceive a facet of them at once in any given context. I feel like that's how youtube works.
Joe: When people are like, "Joe from this series and Joe from that series." I'm like, these are just slices of this imperceptibly broader creature. Like they're all me. They're all me. And you can't - Like, as much as somebody's like, "oh, well, I don't want this to be about the real Joe, I want it to be about this projection of Joe."
Joe: It's like, well this projection of Joe is a real slice of me. And so you really - Like, it's not like I came up with a character that I intentionally said was as different from me as possible. Because actors do that all the time. An actor who is the nicest guy in the world, can go in and be like, "I am going to play the king in Hamlet. And you know what, that guy is a murderous jerk."
Joe: Okay? The actor playing him is not necessarily a murderous jerk, but the actor playing him didn't write the part either, right? When you are improvising playing games with your friends, and you are not running off a script, that is gonna be a projection of your self, to some degree.
Cleo: Uh-huh, that's true.
Joe: And some people have higher levels of abstraction than I do, but I'm running pretty close to the metal on this, this is not a highly abstracted thing for me.
Cleo: Also true. (laughs) Joe is - Joe, Joe is very what you see is what you get.
Joe: Yeah.
Cleo: I think most of the Hermits are very close to what you get.
Joe: Yeah. Well, people are saying like Ren plays a lot of characters. Yeah, so when Ren plays a character though, he like -
Cleo: You know he's playing a character.
Joe: He devises like a script even if he's improvising. He does - he designs boundaries for that character that he improvises within. When I play Minecraft, I don't do that. I don't have boundaries, you just get whatever comes up. It's, it's still only a projection or a slice of my full self, but it's not an inaccurate one.
Joe: And if people are like, well, we're combining Joe from 10 different seasons of Hermitcraft and Joe from UHCs and Joe from the Super Hostile series; you're getting a pretty broad picture that starts to converge on reality. Like, I'd, I, I would be lying if I felt like I said you could separate that from me. So, I don't know.
Joe: [Chatter] says, "I prefer conceptualizing the character as separate from the creator, so I don't convince myself I have access to a real person that I have never met."
Joe: That's a fine delusion to have. You're attempting to counter one delusion with another though. And so that's an interesting way to double down? Like, like, I mean, I'm just saying - You, you got that doubling down on delusions, that's 3D right there. You are, wow, height, width, depth on that.
me when i remember the custom pickup line my friend made up for me 13 years ago and decide to use it now w people who don't even know. they dont even know the HSITORYYYY!!!!
Ready to time travel to 2021 Hermitblr/Trafficblr?
Bogwaters Demo out now on itch.io!
A hand to hold until the end. A hand to hold because we're friends.
June 2021. The experimental Minecraft series Triple Life SMP has just aired its finale and you're obsessed with the dynamic between the Minecraft YouTubers Benbog and Mars OfTheBigWaters.
Problem? The fandom still hates shipping. Solution? Start an underground Discord server to quarantine your shipping activities. To avoid being cancelled, you'd have to scour your social media to find potential members who are secretly open to shipping.
ABOUT
Bogwaters is a free, text-based, interactive fiction browser game. The game is a parody of the Third Life SMP fandom in mid 2021 that is focused on Treebark (the romantic ship between Rendog/Martyn InTheLittleWood) and its fandom relevance.
This is a demo version (prototype) meant to test the limits and feasibility of this game.
You play as the owner of a Discord server named Bogwaters. Your goal is to invite 4 people within 7 days, from June 1 to June 7.

Original inspiration post here (May 13, 2025) (Yes I wrote this in less than two weeks)
I had a lot of fun making this and I hope you enjoy it too if you play it! Please talk to me if you have any thoughts and opinions, I'd love to ramble :D
I know Treebark is so mainstream now that it’s a marketing tactic and Martyn runs fanservice like the navy but we used to think we were hunted for sport and you can simulate the lawless years here
i know this is a predator. like a hardened killing machine. tempered by hundreds of years of evolutionary prowess to fine tune him into a living weapon. but ohhhh the little BABYYY look at the Little Bouncing Baby he is going Boing Boing Boing oh my gooddddd
worst thing about having criticism over the life series is 5 million people come up to u afterwards saying “it’s just a fun thing”. baby they’re making money off of this when has it become illegal to criticize media bc the creators might see it.
