This post is a huge PSA for anyone writing X Reader content
You may not think this post applies to you, but it does.
There is a massive issue with inclusivity and assuming the audience. I have seen and personally experienced, time and time again, that me and many others feel as if we have no place in fandom. This specific part of it has to do with the majority of "x reader" content out there. It is all written for a cisgender (mostly heterosexual) white woman audience.
Now, cis white women getting content made for them is OBVIOUSLY not the issue here. People write for their personal interests, and there is nothing wrong with that. We all know this, and we all enjoy a fun story with our favorite characters centering around us.
The main issue here is the mentioned women not tagging their content properly, refusing to tag their content properly, straight up lying in the tags or not tagging things at all.
Trans men, nonbinary people, trans women, gay men, disabled people, fat people, intersex people and many people of color or non-american readers are constantly left out of fandom space and forgotten entirely. I've seen hundreds of complaints about it, and it needs to be spoken about more. While I'm on specifically talking about the fanfiction part of it, it is a VISIBLE issue in every fandom space you could possibly partake in. I don't even need to explain to you the rampant racism and transphobia in the cosplay community.
And the fix is extremely easy! TAG YOUR THINGS PROPERLY. It is the easiest, simplest form of allyship one could do for the community, and it goes miles. However, a lot of you seem to not understand how to, even if your heart is in the right place.
How to tag your fanfiction for the general audience:
- Specify the gender of the reader. This goes MUCH farther than just what pronouns are used. I've read WAY too many fanfics that tell me it is gender neutral, only to be hit with nicknames like "princess", or to be told the intended reader loves dresses and wears a bra.
- In tags or a prior description, mention every nickname used for the reader and every possibly gendered descriptor. It's really not difficult, and doesn't take too long.
- If necessary, mention what style of clothes the reader is specified to wear. And if this applies as well, specify any highlighted personality traits you gave the reader.
- Specify the body of the reader. This also goes much farther than gender. "Afab" and "amab" don't exactly cut it. Many people are triggered by certain words connected to genitals, so specify what words are used for those as well! Also, if you are trying to write a gender neutral body, PLEASE specify whether it is entirely gender neutral or something is implied. Many say it is gender neutral, and then explain how the reader's body self lubricates, or even has a clitoris. Please do better than that.
- For the love of God, do not automatically feminize the "GN afab" reader you wrote without a warning, and PLEASE MENTION if breasts are even spoken of, let alone used for smut reasons. And do NOT refer to someone's body as having "fem" or "male" genitalia. just say vagina or penis, please.
- Specify what body type you had in mind. Many fat or even slightly chubby individuals need to look for fanfiction that specifically caters to them, because "neutral body reader" writers, tend to not make it neutral. If you have any specifics on whatever you have written for the body mentioned, do tag it!
- Specify what sort of skin tone or hair texture is mentioned, if at all. Many POC complain that they read neutral fiction just to find straight hair, pale skin, light eyes, and blushing faces to be mentioned. If any color of the body is mentioned at all, or anything is implied, do say so! This also can go for specific things you may not think about, like how long it takes hair to dry, how easy it is to brush, hairstyles and other things of the sort.
It may seem like a bit of a list, but this is really the LEAST you can do for your community. We are consistently forgotten and ignored anywhere we go, and the simple things like this truly mean a lot.
- If there is an implied location, or anything to imply a place of origin, it's best to be on the safe side and mention that if it feels important.
- Please tag if you put the reader through, or mention a past traumatic event. Casually putting the reader character through things like an abusive ex, abusive parents, bad home or work life, or something like a car accident can be highly triggering. tag your scenes thoroughly! This also applies to putting the reader insert through something like sexist comments, unwanted touching of any kind, and similarly negative situations.
I cannot tell you the amount of times I've turned to fanfiction as an outlet and an escape, as many others have, just to be jumpscared by my favorite characters misgendering me. It's truly a miserable experience knowing no place is actually welcoming to me, or in the very least accommodating for people who aren't like them. This post is NOT meant to shame or send harassment to those who are forgetful, but ignorance is never a good thing to uphold. No one is asking you to write for an audience you don't want to, we just want to KNOW who you are writing for. Assuming an entire space is all one demographic is never, ever a good thing.
If you need help writing for a demographic you don't fully understand, just ask people who are a part of it how they would! Look at how other writers write and tag their content, and listen to anyone if they have necessary critiques. I wish you all happy writing! :]
Reblogs are highly appreciated, as this message needs to be spread as far as possible!
omg! I wanted to make a post like this, but I felt like people would kinda hate me for it ><
I also kinda hate how nationalities aren't put up to interpretation [even tho its so easy!]. They're always from the USA 💀
Also how people use afab and amab as strict expressions of gender when they're gender assigned at birth based on assumed birth sex- NOT A PERSONS ACTUAL GENDER!

Coz this mech has been on my mind and in my dreams **sobs**
Pairing: Reader x Prime! Knockout
Pronouns used: You, Your, You're, GN reader!
Summary: Cybertronian reader, Human reader, Human-ish/changeling reader. Drabbles and ideas.
Warnings: None really :D
Word count: 671
Cybertronian! Insert/Reader
Knockout prefers bigger bots, yknow, the 'heavy duty type'. That doesn't necessarily mean taller bots. Though if you're shorter, he'll definitely tease that.
Maybe it's a security thing, but he prefers bots who can left more then their own share. [Bigger, better]
Just like his frame type, he likes his relationships to develop fast. Sure he'll slow down if you prefer that, but he'll make his feelings and desires known. So LOTS of flirting.
Clingy, and one for PDA, mostly as a dominance thing to scare other bots off. Territorial? Maybe.
Likes to glide his pointed servos over your shoulders and back when passing by, not hard enough to leave scratches, but enough to feel a flick of static electricity trade itself between you two.
Will slide his servos and digits between the gaps of your hips and lower back when simply loitering beside you. He tends to fidget absent mindedly with the mesh and wiring- similar to squeezing a partners love handles or sliding a hand over your lovers ass.
Will expect to be pampered and loved on, though ironically gets flustered with PDA directed towards him.
Human! Insert/Reader
It takes KnockOut a while to even consider being JUST FRIENDS with a human.
Best way to this mechs spark is stroking his primus-forsaken ego.
Still a bit iffy about you touching him, even when you get close. This is due to your natural oil, which he TRIES [not really] to explain nicely that your dirty little mits are covered in. Though soon enough he starts seeing them as little marks he can wear with him when he's not around you! Not that any other bot notices...
He's the type of mech to treat his lil human F/O like a purse dog, SORRY. He carries you around, coz he doesn't want you stepped on OR getting dirty.
Drive in movies are a MUST and he loves having someone to talk to about said movies. Breakdown rarely accompanies him to said movies, so its a welcome change.
He may or may not convince you to pamper the shit out of him. Relating back to point three, he may just say it's what you owe him for getting him covered in your little oily finger prints.
Probably would love to pamper you back, whether not it's healthy, he sees your presentation as an extension of himself. He'd probably somehow get his hands on the finest [most likely red and gold] clothes and accessories.
Would probably pick and prod at you, pet you and overall be all over you.
HUGE flirt, and uses human movies as education on how to court you. It's cringe as fuck, but some how works with his charisma.
Human-ish/Changeling! Reader
Most of what Human! Insert applies to Changeling! Insert.
He views you as a interesting "specimen", but ultimately finds you easier to relate to then a plain human due to the shared ability to change forms.
Would be really interested in your species mimicking abilities, and if they also apply to mechanical life [it does, just takes a hella lot of practice!].
With your ability to change form, the size difference that would be seen between a human and a Cybertronian can easily be bridged. Though frankly he prefers when you're smaller, since seeing an organic as big as a Cybertronian, no matter the form is a bit... disconserting.
Doesn't let you out of his sight much. You're not exactly safe around your own kind [humans] or Cybertronians, especially if it's known of your abilities.
He would NOT trust other scientists around you, and especially not human governments. If Megatron or Soundwave knows you're a changeling, then KnockOut is even more fretful.
Megatron WOULD try convince you to be a spy for the Decepticons, and [especially if this is after Breakdown dies] Knockout may just get up and leave with you in such a case.
Ozzie!Y/n*About to rip the head of the cybertronians who have hurt your boyfriend*...
That’s it! I’m going to fucking end your life!
Waspinator*Shows up after being checked up by the medic*
Ozzie!Y/n*Switches instantly and runs to him, grabbing his face and peppering him in kisses*WASSPYYY!!!!~
Cybertronians*Actually felt the blood lust coming off of you strike them to their inner cores*...
Im sorry, I promise to do a RID next, but my mind just said "Ozzie!y/n with waspinator be so cute..." i mean, look at that face...WHO WOULDN'T FALL IN LOVE WITH THAT SMILE
"Censorship in media is bad and people should be allowed to write what they choose to" and "Writing a story where SA/abuse is glorified and romanticised is not a good thing to do" are statements that I think should be able to coexist
Hello!! I hope this makes sense to you because this is basically an idea I have for one of my TF OCS (that I swear I will draw them soon), anyway back to it,
The MC is a medic bot who is also First Aid's senior classmate/colleague who aboard the Lost Light.
The MC is a quiet bot with a resting bitch face.
They can be very scary when needed especially for a patient who doesn't listen to them.
They are a monoformer but they have a "backpack shape" installed on their back where 4 extra hands came out (from the backpack) for assistance (it's just like Tarantula's spider legs but make it hands) they can climb walls with those hands.
Everyone on the ship doesn't really talk to them that much unless it was needed to.
How would the rest or some of the crew bond with them. (Platonic)
That's the base line of it. I do hope this is not a bit too much (or too cringe). *Jumps out of a window*
This is a really cool idea ^^ If you don't mind I'll be adding my own lil take on things like their cog function/lack thereof, kibble/lack thereof and original alt mode.
I'd also love to see your oc that prompted this request ^^
⟡ The spider on a wall ⟡ Pt.1
IDW Lost light x Cybertronian! Reader
Pairing: Whirl x Cybertronian! Reader platonic / Lost Light x Cybertronian! Reader platonic
NGL i may make multiple parts to this, coz i started writing and couldn't stop pfft.
Pronouns used: You, Your, You're, We and They/Them
Summary: Reader/Insert is a seemingly cold medic, who happens to be a monoformer. Despite their stand offish disposition, they do wish to connect properly with the Lost Lights crew.
Warnings: Hints at discrimination, caste systems and ableism [?]
Word count: 879
Honestly, when you were approached by FirstAid, a long forgone colleague and class mate from before the war, you were surprised.
No one from your past ever really bothered to try reconnect, let alone invite you to join a ragtag crew headed by a prior prime.
You didn't know what to make of it, but the time you had spent on reborn Cybtertron left much to be desired, so you accepted.
It's a disappointment that even on the Lost Light, your treatment remained the same. People avoided you unless it was necessary, and being a medic meant only really seeing other bots at their worst.
You found yourself floundering during you off hours, listening into conversations, trying to gain the courage to finally assert yourself. This never really came to fruition, as your wallflower behavior managed to allow you to overhear other bots conversations. Conversations about you.
They were nothing more then passing comments. Mostly about your resting "glitch face", as they described, did you really scowl that much? And your cold demeanor and terrible bedside manner, which you conceded as one of your defining traits, but it wasn't like you were the only doctor on the ship who was like that! But what hurt the most was the comments on you're inability to fully transform.
For you, being a monoformer wasn't a choice. You were simply born like that, sure some of your transformation cog functioned, but not enough to actually allow you to fully transform. The only thing you really kept was the ability to store and use the four extra appendages that came from your alternative mode, and you were honestly just happy with that!
It's other bots that had a problem with your inability to transform.
That's why you left new Cybertron to begin with, and now leaving feels absolutely fruitless.
Your expression for the next few cycles was absolutely sour, nothing like the cold, indifferent look you usually wore.
"What crawled up your aft and died" the bot you were currently patching up cackled. Whirl, the patient who was here most and the cause for most other patients visits. "Like you care" You scoff back at him, continuing to weld the gashes in his light armor, "you're right, I don't." he thunked his odd shaped head back onto the medical berth.
Grabbing a plyer with one of your extra arms, you continue your work, grasping and pulling the foreign metal lodged from his side. He just watches as your arms and by extension hand work "y'know, you got a way of making a guy like me feel inadequate" Whirl snickered, earning a flick of your optics to meet his. "How come you get all the hand- hand-things, while I'm stuck with these" He snips his claws, holding them before your face. Ah an attempt at conversation?
Rarely do other bots even think of attempting conversation, especially while your elbows keep in their energon. You can't help but smile and softly shake your helm.
"AH! So you can smile- oh hey now, don't turn away, I totally saw that!" Whirl jostled forward, making your arms retract and you lurch slightly backwards, an accusatory claw in your face. He settles back down onto the birth "Don't worry, I wont use it for blackmail, I mean, UNLESS you want to keep your cold, stoic, kinda creepy persona" He taps the rim of his helm in contemplation. "No, I don't care much for reputation" You settle back into position, you continue welding the several gashes the blue mech in front of you has acquired "could nawt be me" he shook his helm "I have a VERY important reputation to upheld" he said, exasperated.
"That would be?" You once again gain eye contact "I mean, other then being a huge trouble maker and almost the sole reason why anyone ends up here" You gesture to the room around you. "Pfft, nooo, I mean, that's totally part of it! But everyone here's a stick in the mud, I'm here to make things interesting" He clicked the tips of his claws together excitedly. "Well you're certainly doing that, giving us med bots a go for our shanix" you sneer at him, now pointing the welding torch towards the mech, which he doesn't so much as flinch at.
All he does is preen himself up, chin? to the ceiling "All part of the days work!" he proudly states, patting his chassis with his clawed hand. You can't help but cycle your optics and smile.
"All right, all done" you retract your extra arms, "get off the berth and outta here, shew" chuckling half heartdly as you bonk his shoulder.
"Awweeee, but what if I wanna stay?" He jokingly pleads "This place is like a second home! Don't I got squatters rights?" He gets up, though hunches to meet your only slightly smaller frame.
"Oh please, as if you wont be back here in the next chord or two" you rebuke, crossing your two, primary arms.
"You gonna make a promise on that?" he pushes, clearly trying to get some sort of rise or reaction out of you.
"Get out" You simply state "Yes, Doctor!" He salutes comedically, leaving. Most likely to cause trouble somewhere else.
What a pleasant interaction from an unlikely mech.
Just wanted to say I really like your changeling guys! I think the lore is really fun and the designs are very cute ^w^ im excited to see what you do with them!
Hehe, thank you!
I'm still working on their innerworkings and stuff, but heres a sneak peek at more of what makes changelings what they are!
If I ever finish their species sheet/lore I'd def post it on my main @sweet-discordia , if anyones interested!
I wont be writing anything to do with Ravage x Reader in a sexual or romantic way
I have a thing called ✨morals and standards✨
I know some people just don't have those, but I do! I wont be writing smut or romance fics for whats essentially a robotic cat! This goes for any/all animal/beast alt modes~
I wont associate with sexualizing animals. PERIOD.
Like YEa my requests are open, but I also have a clear as dAY do and don'ts section lmao
don't like that? womp womp, block and move on. My writing isn't for you.
