Jewel hates the sound of things beeping, especially our coffee maker, which has an especially high-pitched beep. She gets all skinny and alert when things beep. I’m curious if this is a cockatiel thing or just a Jewel thing? Do your birbs also hate beeping?

I think the tendency to be spooked by unfamiliar noises is definitely a thing tiels do! My girls don’t usually care about beeping specifically but they will get spooked by other things. About 50% of the time my partner sneezes they both get scared and fly around the room, and the rest of the time they get all skinny 😂

I've probably posted about this before but it still gets me that Ripley (my parrot) has a special nickname for my spouse, Tev. Like he knows and uses the names of everyone in his flock (me, Tev, Steve, and Cheese. also a couple of our friends and my mom's dog) but because Tev calls him "Ripley buddy," a couple years ago Ripley started calling him "Tev buddy" instead of just Tev. He doesn't call anybody else buddy. He knows that 'buddy' is a special suffix for him and Tev to use with each other's names because they love each other. Doesn't that just melt your fucking heart

I have an interview for a vet assistant position at a bird and exotics clinic today. I am wearing my parrot dress shirt and my parrot earrings, because I thought also wearing a parrot hair clip and parrot socks might be a bit much

It probably is kind of fun to be a parent bird and find big fat bugs to put in your child’s goalpost mouth. And the more you do it the larger your baby gets, which shows your progress. Mine is reaally big, think I’m going to get a high score this time. It has a unique skin too, I’ve never even seen this one before. Has anyone gotten that one, dark brown and white belly with stripes? It’s not even in my Wrenpedia, it has to be a really special unlock
