Grieve AND organize.
Good article by David Hunter on how to survive the Trump presidency, both on the personal and on the political plane.
The key to taking effective action if Trump wins is to avoid perpetuating his goals of fear, isolation, exhaustion and disorientation.
This is an excellent article. It talks about the psychology of tyranny, the history of resistance and the paths we have to take to rescue each other and recover.
Point #4 especially.
Having your main anxiety response be Avoidance is crazy cause you'll think you're chillin and then one day you're like waitttt I've been paralyzed with fear this whole time. Damn
Was anybody else playing dead the whole time they were teenagers or is that just a me problem. Like I'm 20 now and I'm like Oh shit I didn't do anything. Because I'm scared
And you see. Now I'm scared because I haven't done anything. Everything in the world is so scary and I am not medicated. I've been waking up sweaty the last few days. I hold so much tension you wouldn't believe. But to everyone else I just look like I'm chillin

Violet Bridgerton is truly gods strongest soldier. Every season she tells one of her children they're in love and every season they scoff in her face before causing seven different scandals to reach the same conclusion.
Percy Jackson proving heās a true New Yorker by not knowing how to drive in the slightest and yet still feeling well within rights to lay on the horn and criticize the guy who cuts him off.
Trying a new digital painting technique!!! Matt Murdock thank you for always being my test subject
Annabeth: admits she doesn't know something Percy: sounds fake but okay
My therapist just told me my problem is that I need to write more fanfiction.
This sounds fake but the logic behind it is actually really interesting? She said obsession with a new fandom triggers quick dopamine release when we consume all this related content--it's easy and addictive.
What we're NOT getting is that 'slow dopamine' that's more sustainable and engaging. That's the kind we get from DOING things that take effort but are ultimately rewarding.
So like, she suggested that writing fic and making fanart are ways to balance the quick dopamine of watching a show/reading fic with the slow dopamine of working at something that takes effort.
Moral of the story is you should engage in the process of creation around your favorite things. You'll feel better for it.
Oh.
OH.
Let's all go do fandom.
FOR SCIENCE!

Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Lost Adventures: Relics
Most of the comics from the Lost Adventures anthology are just cute little oneshots or provide extra details about certain plot points, but Relics felt like it could have been an actual episode, and reveals some crucial (and very sad) information about the history of the airbenders.
It takes place during Book 1, when Aang still has a tiny bit of hope left that other airbenders could have survived by hidingāwhich actually makes a lot of sense, since the likelihood that every single air nomad (emphasis on nomad) alive would have been in the temples during the Fire Nations attack is incredibly small.Ā Ā He finds a merchant selling airbender relics and claims to have bought them from a mysterious stranger living alone in the mountains.Ā
Aang heads out by himself to investigate and discovers evidence of an air nomad settlement.Ā For a split second he thinks he has found another airbender, that he isnāt actually the last oneā¦
ā¦before the āairbenderā turns out to be the merchant to from earlier working with Zhao and his men to lure and trap Aang.Ā
This is sad enough, but Zhao then reveals some truly horrifying information:Ā this was the same kind of trap that Fire Lord Sozin used to secretly continue his genocide of the airbenders.Ā
It turns out that a number of airbenders did avoid the main Fire Nation attack and went into hiding. This was apparently anticipated by Sozin, though, and he managed to lure and kill most, if not all, of the survivors in with similar caches of airbender relics.
Aang manages to escape Zhao, but the comic still ends on a dark note, with him not only accepting that he is the last airbender but also processing yet another atrocity inflicted by the Fire Nation upon his people.
Gay people will be like āthis is my comfort show!ā And then show you the most emotionally devastating, stress-inducing, tragic piece of media you have ever witnessed
DONT USE THE PIRATE BAY PLEASEEEE I BEG YOU.
Use 1337x.to rarbg or rutracker, highly moderated public torrent trackers, because Pirate Bay has long been shut down, unmoderated, and cloned by some shady actors AND use Mullvad VPN (or any other vpn but mullvad is the best definitely) to protect your ip address while you torrent, bind it to qbittorrent and do not use utorrent anymore either because it is littered with adware.
OR if you donāt want to pay for a VPN, use direct download or streaming sites. Please yāall just take one pass through on the r/piracy or r/freemediaheckyeah mega threads to find whatever you want for free and also not infect your computer with Trojan viruses.
^^^ yes!!! Thank you sm.
If any of those terms made you go ????? and you think pirating must be So Hard, I wrote a verbose but easy to follow guide a while back for total beginners!
Pinning this since I genuinely think Piracy is a great skill to have and I want to share it with anyone who'd like to see it Okay so! You n

I personally like to thank starbrigid for making "The Mirror of Ecidyrue" series. A true MVP and a major gift to humanity. Why they decided to bless us mere mortals with their gift is beyond me.
Being a teenage girl has never been so hard (ao3 is down)
itās so true that the greatest weapon against nihilism and existential despair is to find joy in the mundane and never stop chasing after love
I just watched Avatar for the first time all the way through, and yeah, itās great, but the one thing that surprised me was how different Katara was compared to the fandom interpretation Iād seen and internalized before watching.
Like, before you watch Avatar, youāve seen all these memes about Katara and her mom, and based on those memes, you assume itās one of those lines you have to get used to hearing at least once every episode. But then you watch the show and realize that she only talks about her mom maybe five or six times per season and you also realize she only brings her up when sheās trying to comfort someone or empathize with them because thatās how she processes her grief and thatās one way she connects with people.
Or you hear the infamous line, āthen you didnāt love [our mother] the way I didā and you prepare yourself for one of the worst character assassinations ever only to see the scene after nearly three seasons worth of context and realize she was kinda right. Sheās been the mother, the nurturer, the comforter. Sheās been patient, gentle, and accommodating where everyone else has gotten to be insensible and reckless and childish, and the one moment where she allows herself to feel her grief, suddenly sheās this evil bitch and not, yāknow, a 14 year old girl whose been thrusted into adulthood in a way no other character has. A 14 year old girl who should be allowed immaturity and raw emotion and anger instead of the patience and grace sheās been forced to extend to every character without even the smallest amount of gratitude or even consideration in return.
Or you see all of the clips where Katara puts Aang in the āfriendzoneā and you expect to have this wishy washy back and forth where Aang is putting his feelings out there only to have Katara neither commit nor express any clear reciprocation or rejection. Then you watch and realize that, as cute as the ship is initially, that thereās never a point where Aang returns any comfort or grace to Katara despite her always doing this for him to the point of coddling. That for as much as Aang says he loves her, he never seems to outgrow his perception of her so he can recognize her as someone who feels grief, anger, and pain as much as she expresses love, kindness, and maturity. And instead of having moments where he learns to see her beyond her strength or compassion, youāre instead given moments where Aang forces his feelings onto her, both romantic and non-romantic, and Katara is expected to justā¦shoulder those feelings the way she shoulders everyone elseās.
Katara is the most misunderstood character in the show. As much as people recognize the complexities of Zuko, Sokka, and Azula, they struggle to do the same for Katara because they see her struggles as somehow lesser, and therefore, less deserving of sympathy. They can handle her so long as sheās being endlessly patient and loving and kind, but the moment her endless love, patience, and kindness runs out, sheās suddenly this annoying bitch who canāt shut up about her mother or reciprocate Aangās feelings. But Kataraās trauma does matter as much as anyone elseās. No, she wasnāt banished from her kingdom. No, she didnāt lose her entire community, and no, she isnāt the only one who lost her mother. But the difference between her and everyone else whose experienced loss because of the Fire Nation is that sheās never given time to process her trauma. Aang gets to lean on Katara constantly. Toph gets to express her feelings to Katara, and yeah, Sokka also lost their mother, but unlike Katara, he isnāt put in the position of being a substitute for everyoneās parent. He even admits that he sees his sister as a mother. The only characters who ever comfort Katara or allow her to vent is Zuko and her father and thatās, like, three scenes in a show where the other characters are consistently given opportunities to seek out Katara for unconditional support.
The fandom interpretation of Katara has been so bastardized that even those who havenāt watched the show know her for this fanon version and not for who she is. Sheās such an interesting character beyond her fandom limitations, though. Sheās brave, hot-headed, and hopeful as well as gentle and caring. She wishes to learn waterbending, not only because she wants to fight in the war, but because she wants to continue her cultureās practices because, and people often forget this, she also lost an entire subculture within her already fractured tribe. And she wants to defeat the Fire Nation both because of her deep love and empathy for other people, but also because she wants to avenge her mother. But because some of the fans have reduced Katara to a bitch who constantly whines about her mother and friendzones Aang, you wouldnāt know any of this, and it sucks because sheās the only character whose been dumbed down to such an extent.
