“Don’t worry, I’m fully clothed and I’m only playing video games.” Tony said, pausing his game and pointed at himself, fully clothed. If she went into any other guys’ room, she would probably have seen otherwise. “What’s up Mia?”
“Is this a trick? I feel like this is a trick...” Mia stated, her back still to the male and eyes glued to the floor. “H-how do I know you’re not lying..?”

“No?” Charlie said. “They’re a hearty lot, the Dadaists. They probably would’ve been too stoned to be offended for another thing,” he shrugged.
“I mean- sure? Wait- if I accept this gift does that mean we’re going steady?” Charlie asked, his voice light and playful. “Because that’s too much commitment for this point in my life. However, I am thinking let this dry, turn it upside down and put some peanut butter and birdseed in it, we might be able to see what kinda birds we got here around Lake Erie.”
“Oh? Well then I definitely can’t pull off saying I’m a Dadaist...” she stated. ‘Stoned’ and Mia were two very mutually exclusive things. “Wait what?” Wasn’t he––– gay? “Uhhh... no. What. I-I... That’s not.. But you asked... What. I’m confused.”

Karma looked at Mia’s project, noticing the unnecessary amounts of glue. She laughed a little. “It doesn’t look that bad, Mia. But it definitely could benefit from less glue, though."
“The glue is what literally holds the thing together.” She said, chuckling. “I just wanna make sure it stays intact. As soon as it dries, I’m hanging it above our door in the room. It’s supposed to keep the bad juju out and let the good in. And God knows, I need all the good juju come next semester when I apply into the nursing program.”
baileyreinhart:
“Right? That’s what I thought but apparently they were shades of pink. Not practical at all.” She sighed, then looked at the comb sheath. “Yeah.. It was supposed to be a rectangle. Well at least you could use it as a door stopper. I don’t think anyone would use mine as a comb sheath or something else.” Bailey huffed, rubbing her temples. “God I hate arts and crafts. Why didn’t Gamma pick something easier? Like cooking or baking? I don’t even wanna think about Gamma and Lambda bonding. Pictionary. Literally the only game I suck at.”
Mia laughed. “It’s okay. Comb sheath or not, I’ll treasure it fondly since it’s a gift from you, Big. ––– Crafting isn’t all too bad. Always wanted to try my hand at it. Now that I know I suck at it, I could do without ever doing it again. Awww but Pictionary is fun! You’ve got nothing to worry about. We’re gonna kick some Lambda butt, I’m sure of it.”

“Bless the person who invented handheld video games. Now I can just stay locked inside this cabin until this retreat is over.” Tony knew he should be out and about but he was about to face Angra Mainyu - the hardest battle in Final Fantasy and he had to be mentally ready for that.
Mia swung open the door to the cabin, letting in some much needed sun into the dark room. “Oh! What in the–––!! ” she exclaimed in shock, instantly shutting her eyes. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry, I should’ve knocked! Gaah!” She didn’t know what the figure was doing in the dark. All she could make out was the male laying down and fiddling with something in his hands.

“Gift? There’s a gift? Is this it?” He looked down at the monstrosity of a craft project. “It doesn’t look horrible.” He paused for a moment before asking, “What is it?”
“Here it is!“ she exclaimed, holding up the small crafted box made out of popsicles. The top adorned with an assortment of feathers, buttons, and glittered puffy paint. While it may not have been the most aesthetically pleasing, she couldn’t help but feel a little pride in having made it all by herself. “...It’s like a little trinket box. I-D-K, you can put like little things in it,” she mused. “What do you think?”

“There’s no shame in quitting,” Basil reassured her, crossing his arms over his chest. He would had lied and told her it was the thought that mattered most but there was no skirting around the monstrosity she had created. “Maybe try doing a mug or t-shirt? Both can be done online,” he suggested.
Her nose crinkled at his sentiment. “Well that stung,” she muttered. “Is that it? That’s all you got? ‘There’s no shame in quitting’? I mean, I wasn’t expecting much of a pep talk but some effort would’ve been nice. –––– Well I can’t just order something online, Basil. That would just defeat the whole purpose of crafting. I’ll just... I don’t know... start over, I guess. –––– What are you doing in the arts and crafts cabin anyway?”

“What’s that they say, it’s the thought that counts?” Bells peered over at the girls project. “Uh , it would’ve looked better if you didn’t add a layer of glue over it” she muttered, grimacing. “Maybe… I’ve got nothing. Call an art major over and maybe they’ll be able to help you out.”
“I just want to make sure it stays intact. I don’t wanna wrap it and then when she opens it, it’s just a pile of popsicle sticks and feathers–– I’m almost done with the glue. I promise. Ehh, I think I’ll be fine. I’ve only got maybe less than half an hour until we do our gift exchange. And you’re right, I mean it’s the thought that counts. What’s ZBZ doing for your bonding activity?”

Kenny’s eyes widened at the gluey mess of Mia’s project and she had to bite her lip to hold back any comments brewing in her head, “It looks fine- Just maybe cut down on the glue…? Me neither though, honestly. The best I can do is draw wonky stick men.”
“I just wanna make sure it’ll stick, ya know? Make sure it’s sturdy..” Mia said, as she meticulously inspected the popsicle box for more crevices to glue. It was safe to say at this point, the female was just trigger-happy–– glue gun trigger that is. “Stick men, I can do. I’m a pro at drawing stick men,” she replied with a laugh. “Gasp! –––Maybe I should draw a stick man on top with puffy paint!”

Charlie tilted his head as he looked at the- thing. The precursor apology didn’t inspire his confidence. “You know, even if it’s sucks, you could call yourself a Dada artist. They made their lives out of taking things like urinals, turning them upside down, and displaying them in museums. Same principal can apply to crafting.”
Charlie nodded, sure he had said the right thing. “So like do you want me to have this or am I delivering it somewhere?”
Mia let out a soft sigh. “Yeah, but wouldn’t that just be an insult to actual Dada artists?” Her lips formed into a pout as she inspected the current state of what was supposed to be a small jewelry box made out of popsicle sticks. The structure was slightly tilting from the overuse of glue still oozing out of it. She groaned. “Well it was supposed to be for one of my sorority sisters but... do you want it?”

“Gift?” Giselle stared at the girl’s pile of God-knows what and then stared at her own neatly stacked popsicles to compare. “Well bless your heart. However your project isn’t really my thing. I’m sure someone else would love it though.” Giselle hummed. “Mm, sure don’t, unless you’re going for something beyond artsy. Like one of those modern pieces, it doesn’t actually have to be something.”
“Oh–– It’s actually for one of my sorority sisters. It’s this whole bonding thing we’ve got going; craft something from the heart and gift it to a beloved sister. Yeah, it’s not exactly the nicest jewelry box. But I mean, it’s the thought that counts right?” She said, turning to Giselle and flashing her a genuine smile. “But... I’ll be sure to write a heartfelt note with it to offset it’s... gaudiness. How are you, today? Enjoying the retreat so far?”

Zay raised an eyebrow at her words in interest. “Okay, I’ll bite. Why’d you peg me for a Boston cream?”
Mia shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know. It was just the first thing that popped into my head. But if I were to make sense out of it, I guess it’s because Boston cream’s a classic, ya know? It’s an original. And you, Zay Fuentes, are definitely an original. You can never go wrong with Boston cream. It’s an attractive donut on the outside with a creamy sweet center. What more could you ask for?” Mia chuckled. “And for those that don’t know donuts, they take one look at it, and it’s like ‘Oh, what an attractive looking donut. I think I’ll choose that one please.’ and then they take one bite, completely unaware it’s got cream inside and it’s like ‘Oh, it’s got cream inside. What a very nice surprise’ and.... how long should I keep going before we both realize I’m making this up as I go?”

“Think of it this way, you’ll be a professional by the end of the retreat,” Adam said, peeking over the girl’s shoulder to see just what monstrosity she was talking about. “Then again, you aren’t exactly taking classes here so I wouldn’t feel too bad about whatever you create.”
“Oh no, no, no. I don’t plan on doing any more craft projects after this one. Trust me. Not exactly how I want to spend my time at retreat. Especially when it’s my first summer not spending it with family. Still though, I’d like for whatever I gift to my sorority sister to be nice. Or at the very least to be usable. And considering I just accidentally glued the top on to this jewelry box... that might not happen.”
cassieslockedhart:
“Yeah, the only thing I’ve learned from this is that crafting is just not my thing. The only thing I’m remotely creative with is making a lanyard from string and unfortunately, that is not an option here.”
“I mean, it’s serving its purpose, right? We’re bonding over our shared lack of crafting skills.” Mia chuckled, taking a break from her mess of a jewelry box to look over at Cass’ little crafting project. “What are you making there?”

“Is that supposed to be a picture frame?”
The bright in her eyes suddenly dimmed and a small pout formed on her lips. “No.. It’s a jewelry box...” she answered. “That’s it. I give up. I suck at this..”

“I know you are joking but you kinda sounded like my dad. He’s constantly mocking me about my lack of creativity. Once I couldn’t differ the colour Lemonade and the colour Crepe – I just called them pink and he got upset.” Bailey sighed. “I am in.” The brunette agreed with a nod. “That’s the question I have been asking to myself for the last thirty minutes. It’s supposed to be a comb sheath. How about you?”
“ Well I can’t blame you there. Those don’t even sound like they’d be shades of pink. Wouldn’t lemonade be like a yellow-ish color? ––– Ooh, okay... Isn’t it kinda.. weird-shaped to be a comb sheath? Ya know, it started out as a small jewelry box but I accidentally glued the top on so now it’s just a door stopper. ”

“Don’t be sorry! Because I am the same.” Bailey huffed, then shook her head slowly. She would cut a frog with her eyes closed but crafts? Forget it. “Same. You would think at least I know few tricks hence I was raised by two creative people but nah. This stuff is hard.”
“ How in the world are we going to make a living saving people’s lives if we can’t decoupage ?? ” Mia joked. “Let’s just gift each other our crafts so we don’t feel bad getting any one else’s ” she suggested. “ What are you making anyway? ”
