Art Geya Shvecova (Design graphics - SUGAR SEA_121118) V.2
Slightly older stuff, but I realized that I had saved some steps of my process while making this image. This doesn’t show my full process, though. Usually I try something, see it doesn’t work, erase, and try again. But still, I hope you enjoy!
1) The Sketch
The hardest part of the picture is to get the idea. I always try to include a story in my drawing to make it more interesting. The story in this picture is that the robot cuts a leaf from the plant he’s taking care of. It doesn’t need to be more than that.
First I color block the shapes in to see that the silhouette reads clear. I keep my Pinterest open to feed me nice ideas.
2) Line & Blocking the Plant
After getting the basic shape in, I add the first pass of lines in the robot and block out the plant. I looked up references for the plant and for the watering can as well. Getting the references even for the objects like these prevents them from ending up basic and boring. I also flip the image several times when drawing to see if there’s anything weird going on.
3) Lines & Details
Then I lined the plant and added the details in.
4) Color & Tweaking
I usually add the colors in separate layers and then tweak them later. I didn’t save all my tries, but let’s just say that the robot was blue at first. I always try to keep the color in 2 or 3 main colors. More than that and it’ll start looking messy. I also added a color in the line to make it softer.
Then it’s just tweak tweak tweak. I’m never happy with the colors, but nowadays I’m better realizing when it’s starting to get too nit picky.
5) Finished!
And there he is. A little gardener bot doing his duty.

Birb!
Birds actually like to stick their heads in things and chirp/sing because of the way the sound waves bounce off the inside. It’s like the birb version of when you yell HELLOOOOO into a canyon to hear the echo :)
why wasn’t I tagged in this ?????
