The thing about Elmax is that in s5, max is literally privy to Henry’s memories and therefore a sizable chunk of El’s trauma. She was IN the memory, lived through it, she was the one character who saw exactly what happened in the lab. She was in such a unique position to be able to connect with El like that and then she just. Didn’t.
