Antizionist critics of Israel often do a fun little thing where they get into high dudgeon where they claim they don’t hate JEWS, they just hate Israel…in a way that indicates that they feel like Israelis are genetically or culturally evil in some way. And then they act confused as to why diaspora Jews, who share genetics and culture with Israelis, are getting mad at them!

Don't forget their "hate Israel, not Jews" often involves defense or sympathy for people shooting non-Israeli jews, setting fire to non-Israeli jews, blowing up non-Israeli synagogues, setting fire to non-Israeli synagogues, vandalizing non-Israeli kosher restaurants and shouting hate at their patrons...

Like, even if they convinced me to desire the death of my overseas kin, which they won't, I would still have no choice but to interpret their words and deeds as hating me because there isn't really any other way to parse demonstrably wanting me dead or at least indicating that if somebody murdered me they'd have more sympathy for the murderer than for me

Something very beautiful happens to people when their world has fallen apart: a humility, a nobility, a higher intelligence emerges at just the point when our knees hit the floor.
