I like how Noelle and Kris have different reactions to the trauma of the weird route. Since everyone experiences things differently. But the reactions that they do have are kind of the opposite of what you would expect them to.
Noelle is really timid and kind of weak-willed, but she is still kind and helpful and polite. You'd think that being manipulated into killing people would slowly demoralize her and turn her into a soulless tool but that doesn't happen. She is instead empowered by the experience. It gives her an opportunity to break out of the mundane cycle she feels trapped in. It's terrifying to her, sure, but you break her enough to believe she can do anything as long as "Kris" tells her to. And even that doesn't work because you can't really abort the route in chapter 5 anymore. Saying "stop" wouldn't do anything since Noelle just says "proceed" herself. And then there's the "aborted"/drowned weird route or side A, where Noelle doesn't let herself and Kris drown but all of that still happened.
We learn from the egg rooms and the sword route that Kris may have had some violent tendencies as a kid. Possibly bordering on sadistic, if you were to trust Eram. They should be the one finding enjoyment over holding so much power and control over Noelle just based on the hints from their past, but that doesn't happen. Kris resists you at every possible moment throughout the run, trying to undo the damage you did like comforting Noelle or helping Berdly. They absolutely despise you for putting them in this situation and more importantly forcing Noelle in it. By the time we reach chapter 5 Kris refuses to entertain you. You literally need to force them out of bed to continue playing. It really feels like you're just controlling a soulless puppet who is just a means to interact with the game.
It's not the reactions that you'd expect at first glance, but given the context it makes perfect sense. Noelle did have some concerning fantasies with her dialogue at the lake paralleling the one on the normal route. While Kris is actively fighting against their unwanted thoughts, choosing to be more empathetic and kind.
