Szárnytalan szeráf means wingless seraph. It's an oxymoron that I came up with and what I associate heavily with my identity.

The blog's title is my personal VFD, a nod to my obsession with AsoUE and explaining myself in three little words.

Name, pronouns: András, Bandi for short (pronounced like bandit without a 't') — he/him

Hungarian literature major, specialising in biblical studies — aiming for a master degree in the future

I am an artist in many forms (drawing, painting, writing, acting) and likewise enjoyer of art in many shapes

In the early process of converting to reform Judaism. (Conversion tag: #járok egy utat // journey of joy)

I mostly post in English, but some Hungarian nonsense can be also expected. This is my personal blog, I love talking to others so feel free to ask or message me, anon asks are allowed but I simply delete ragebait or other messages with malicious intent.

Okay, okay, okay, so the punchline in this one...isn't really there. But that's because there's more coming, you see! This one I decided to break up and make a two-parter. Posting more later today hopefully! In the meantime, enjoy the inherent humor in:

What doesn’t get talked about enough is that, all those 40-something years, Rocky had all the supplies he needed to go back home. He had the fuel, he had the food. But he didn’t. He tried and tried and tried. He kept going. He took measurements, gathered data, built new Astrophage samplers but could never get it right. He maintained the Blip-A, a ship that was built in a hurry and just kept breaking, for over FORTY YEARS. When Grace found him, Rocky wasn’t just sitting idle in orbit. He was still working, still trying, he hadn’t given up. He was tracking the stars, probably to watch for a potential second mission from Erid, when he spotted the Hail Mary in reverse-thrust. Rocky calls Grace brave. Truly, Grace is. But I’d compare Rocky more to Stratt. How much of yourself would you be willing to sacrifice to save your planet? Rocky was willing to stay at Tau Ceti for the rest of his life until he either found a solution, or died.

To many of y’all are missing the opportunity to make Rocky deaf/sign in asl in y’all college au’s and whatnot because eridians seem to speak in a grammatical structure similar to ASL, and also it’s grammatically correct in ASL to essentially go “Question?” At the end of sentences.

"The last time any human touched Ryland Grace was an act of horrific violence"

Well... Yes and no.

The last time Ryland Grace was CONSCIOUS of any human touch was when he was knocked out. Absolutely true.

But the last human contact he would have had was Yao and Ilyukhina. Who were told that he was scared about panicking during launch and asked to be sedated. Who did all the pre flight checks before the Hail Mary launched. Who would have carefully, gently carried Grace to his bed in the dormitory, made sure he was secure, and initiated his coma procedure.

There would have been love there. Remember Ilyukhina throwing her hands high and saying "welcome to crew!" Remember Yao saying how he hoped Grace would say yes. Remember how much the crew trusted Grace, Stratt's First Officer, the guy who helped them so much, and was so kind to them, and was the one who they entrusted their preferred methods of suicide to. Who thought they were wonderful and brave.

They would have tucked him in. Maybe brushed his hair out of his face. Maybe said something kind to him before initiating their own coma procedures.

Ryland Grace doesn't remember, of course he wouldn't. But the last human touch he ever had was full of love.

Rocky and Grace are yelling at each other. Rocky stops mid argument to demand that Grace put on his angry eyebrows. Grace immediately stomps to the whiteboard, stomps back over with the dry erase marker, draws angry eyebrows on the xenonite ball. the argument continues
