Honestly I do, genuinely think, its a little fucked up that they didn't rename him Phantom in the character select or anything. He chose a new name to symbolize his desire for a new life and the devs just said "fuck it, he's more marketable if we don't respect that at all." Shout out to my boy Phantom, who doesn't get an tenth of the respect he deserves from the creators.

maybe it's boomer of me but it does make me genuinely rather frustrated seeing other trans people misuse the pronouns feature on discord. i get it when you're like in the closet not using it. but putting jokes in that slot is like. it's a feature that's actually good for trans people. really good, even. ive run several trans discord servers over the years and "experimenting with pronouns" is an important first step in like so many journeys. but when it's used for jokes, it gets taken less seriously and becomes less useful. the flow of "check before reference" is broken.

And its like the best version of this system I've seen in a while. For people like me who have less than typical pronouns we often get left out of these kinds of pronoun visibility because our pronouns are left out. That's why I dislike when servers have pronoun roles, funnily enough "other" doesn't actually tell other people what to call me. Its such a nice system specifically because you can put whatever you want in there, but I think that means there isn't much of anything you can do to stop this kinda of misuse.

One time I (tme) excitedly told a friend of mine (tma) about a canon trans girl in a very popular media (because she was genuinely upset about how little canon representation there was for girls like her that wasnt extremely transmisogynistic) I liked and later when she was talking to a tme friend they vehemently told her this was just a headcanon and that she was wrong and that if she wanted trans rep she should just go watch drag race. Yes I am being serious. Yes I helped her to get out of taht friend group because they were super transmisogynistic.

(The character is xion from kh, who's entire story in game revolves around her picking and creating her own identity as a girl, in spite of having been created to literally be a clone of a boy (sora). In the process of her game she's repeatedly misgendered, degendered, and abused for trying to be her own person. She canonically kills herself to avoid physically turning into a boy. (She later got revived and is part of the main cast now) It's literally canon, they just don't say the word trans. The tme person in question told my friend that they see her as "nonbinary instead")

TMEs hate trans womanhood and I hate them so much for it. when we love a character for being transfem that's not acceptable, she can't be a trans woman, we're stealing representation from other people. when we criticize a character for being a transmisogynistic stereotype, that's also not acceptable. the text never said "trans woman" so we're clearly just looking for reasons to get offended

"nonbinary instead" is fascinating here because even putting aside the far more blatant fact of just being an explicit degendering of a trans woman, it's also trying to force the perspective of "being nonbinary is distinct and separate from transfemininity and transition away from masculinity"

it is yet again denying transfeminity access to nonbinary identities. It's an attempt to rigidly define nonbinary as TME, and further invalidate the identities of those of us who are TMA but not girls.

I legit just got into a fight about this a few days ago by saying I love Testament from Guilty Gear as trans fem representation and that I think they don't get enough recognition for how good their representation is, especially compared to the not great past of Bridget. People really hate when you try to acknowledge that trans fems exist, especially when they fall outside of their idea of a trans fem.

Anyway, to cleanse my pallet from having a fucking aneurysm from that discourse I wasn't expecting to have at like 05:48 at time of writing, I'm gonna talk about my boyfriend who I love very dearly so TW for men lol.

Anyway he's been getting into Destiny 2 a little again because he's very nostalgic for it and if you've been keeping up with that news you know it just got its last update (I think). So he went to go play with friends and full transparency I don't really like his friends (in all fairness though he doesn't seem to like his friends all that much either,) and I use Linux so I couldn't play with them even if i wanted to, and I really don't want to just sit in a VC with a bunch of guys not doing anything. Anyway, whenever he goes to do his own thing with his "friends" for a while he always sounds like a sad little pup walking away from its owner. Its really cute, and he's always exited to come back to me.

He also has this snort when he laughs sometimes and its just the most precious thing to me. I'll send him funny stuff and hear two to four little laughs before a big snort and like yesssss that's my cute lil piggy.

He's also just so silly, he's always either taking pictures of himself, or asking me to take pictures of him, looking off into the distance like he's on this grand quest and its just so endearing.

This one is totally like "congratulating a man on doing the bare minimum" but it made me feel better so I'm talking about it anyway. Yesterday he wanted a picture of me. Not a nude, not of me in any fancy outfit, not of me in any fancy place, just me and my smile. And as someone who sometimes has a fear/anxiety of being noting but a sex object it was nice to be asked for that. Plus he always makes me feel super pretty when he sees me. The easiest way for me to get a confidence boost is to turn on my camera in VC or to send him a picture and he's sure to make me feel like an angel.

Also he's just a big dork. I can ask him about a ton of nerdy stuff and he just loves to talk about it. And its so fun to listen to him talk about it because he just gets so lost in it and exited about whatever it is.

All of this and I haven't even touched on how just drop dead gorgeous he is. Pretty as a painting, and gorgeous as a sunrise. He has just these most beautiful long eyelashes, and the most perfect hair. And my hands just fit perfectly on his cheeks.

He is a wonderful man and I am very very lucky to be with him and typing this did significantly improve my mood so I'm afraid you can look forward to more boyfriend posting in the future when I'm upset.
