Excerpt from Chapter :
At first Tim wasn't really worried about the fact that Damian was missing.
This has happened not once, not twice but three times that the boy has run off, so when he heard that the kid disappeared at school, his initial reaction was one of mild annoyance mixed with a touch of resignation. Surely, Damian would reappear soon, likely at Dick's place, sulking and whining to their older brother.
Tim hated to admit it, but he was a bit jealous of their close bond. Damian has been here for such a short amount of time and had taken almost everything from him. His mantle, his brother, the kid even tried attempted murder and got as little as a tap on the wrist.
God thinking about it, Tim really hates that kid.
Wait hate is such a strong word.
Tim leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling. Maybe "hate" wasn't the right word, but the frustration and jealousy he felt were undeniable. Damian had a way of getting under his skin, of making him feel like an outsider in his own family. Dick's easy acceptance of Damian only made it worse, highlighting the rift that seemed to widen every day.
But he has to be okay, right? This was just another one of Damian's dramatics, he's with Dick who was gently trying to coax him into going home.
But Seventy-two hours later, that confidence was no more.
Seventy-two hours is the most crucial window in a missing person's case. Tim knew this all too well, having seen it countless times in their line of work. The longer someone was missing, the colder the trail became. Each hour that ticked by without a lead felt like a weight pressing down on his chest, making it hard to breathe.
