Just thinking about Bruce and baby Dick. Angry, sassy, rage filled baby Dick Grayson... Now picture if you will Batman being good cop to Robin--angry ready to pound the face of a villain--bad cop.

Bruce hates every moment of it, not being the good cop but that Dick is not acting, not completely. He's that mad and he enjoys watching those who hurt others in pain, just a little more than he should. Bruce--looking at Richard John Grayson--is forced to look in the mirror and realize just how that same anger has been hurting him. All the years he trained to be Batman, all that anger and rage he held. It's taken this tiny, lethal child to get him to see how detrimental it is.

Maybe Bruce becomes the most gentle, grace filled, second chance giving good cop in the hopes that Robin will see how second chances and forgiveness are just a part of justice as the swift fist that they readily use against those who don't want to change. That punishment doesn't have to be cruel. Maybe Robin saves Batman because Batman has to save him.

thinking. thinking about Stan leaving Vegas after the whole mess with Jimmy, deciding that the desert is the only place that makes sense for the moment, because he's cold, so cold, and the desert is maybe the only place that can warm him. he can see indents in the shape of bodies in the sand, and he thinks that they would fit him perfectly.

he decides to just...go. drive for the sake of driving, walk for the sake of walking. maybe find himself, whatever that means. if rich kids taking a gap year can do it, so can he. the desert is quiet. he wasn't ready for how quiet.

and then--

he sees an old woman at the gas station. she's trying to get to her grandson, doesn't know much English, and has run out of gas and mileage on a car that probably shouldn't legally be on the roads. he figures...well, he has nowhere to go except those bodiless graves. he can take her to where she's going.

but once they get there and they pick up her tiny grandson from a breaking house (Jesus...and what a name it is. the kid is sunshine, but like the desert, he's too quiet. he reminds Stan of himself, of what he might have been like without Ford to tether him), they just...stay together.

cue the roadtrip with the Ramirez family around the western U.S., the longest summer of Stan's life, as they meet various interesting people, pick up a few more, and accidentally meet up with Stan's older brother...the one who looks more like Ma than Pa.

just. roadtrip au. it's not like they're supposed to make it out of life alive anyways, right? Stan figures he might as well enjoy it while he's got it.

I don’t think I have it in me to write it, but I can’t stop thinking about an amazing race or survivors hangster fic. Like……the possibilities.

On the Amazing Race, they’d be a dream team during challenges, but would argue and bicker in downtime. Maybe it’s a season where they have “blind date” couples or exes playing.

On Survivor, they start out on opposite tribes, but there’s a quick player swap, and Jake ends up the only new player on the Dagger tribe with Bradley, Nat, Bob, etc? He assumes he’ll be voted out as the outsider, but Bradley acts weird and keeps him around. They slowly become friends, and eventually each other’s #1 in the game (which they try to keep secret.) There’s another swap and they get separated, and then it’s just pining and doing anything to keep the other on their new tribe from afar until the merge.
