He glanced at you again, his dark eyes sparkling with a new kind of curiosity, the kind that made your stomach do a slow, dizzying roll.
He tapped his fingers lightly against the steering wheel, stealing another glance at you. This time, it lingered for a little more.
“So,” he said, voice quieter now, amused but genuinely interested, “in these stories… do I at least have a cool car? Or am I still driving around rescuing drunk strangers at 2 AM?”
“Come on, you drive a Mercedes. You know that’s a cool car, right?” you teased, your tone light as you turned your head from where it rested against the headrest to look at him.
It was still hard to believe that Jeon Jungkook was giving you a ride to the hospital. A place you definitely would not have needed to visit if you hadn’t managed to smash your head against the sharp corner of a table hard enough to probably leave a crater on your forehead.
A quiet laugh slipped past Jungkook’s lips, subtle but impossible to miss. His big boba dark eyes stayed fixed on the road while the city lights reflected softly against his face. Pink lips, perfectly shaped, the silver piercing caught between his teeth every other minute like a nervous habit.
Unnoticed by either of you. Maybe because of the late hour, the quiet hum of the city outside, or the warmth filling the car. Or something called TimeZone, sleep eventually won, your eyes fluttering shut as you drifted into a brief doze.
“Hey, you can’t fall asleep after hitting your head like that.” Jungkook glanced at you from the corner of his eye, nudging your shoulder lightly.
“Why you say that?” you asked, sitting up a little straighter in your seat as you looked at him shyly.
“Imo told me that if you fall asleep after a bad hit to the head, you never wake up again,” he replied, never taking his eyes off the road. “Just wait a few more minutes. We’re almost there.”
“That’s just a dumb superstition,” you said before immediately regretting it. Would he get annoyed at you? You couldn’t upset Jeon Jungkook.
“Maybe,” he answered with a shrug, a small grin tugging at his lips, “but I’d rather not risk someone dying in the passenger seat of my car.”
“Fair enough. I won’t give you that kind of trouble,” you laughed softly. “I’ll save dying for when we get there.”
“Don’t say stuff like that.” His tone turned serious for a second, though the warmth in it never disappeared.

The hospital parking lot was not full, the darkness of the night broken only by the pale glow of streetlights.
“Thank you. Really, thank you so much,” you said emotionally as you stepped out of the car. “I’m genuinely such a huge fan, and I really appreciate you bringing me here, sir.” You don’t know why you called him sir, he was only 3 years order, but it felt right.
Jeon Jungkook stayed quiet, although he didn’t liked to be called “sir” by a fan.
When you turned around and started walking toward the hospital entrance a few meters away, you suddenly heard a car door shut behind you, followed by the soft beep of the vehicle locking.
You looked back.
Jungkook stood there in a black cap pulled low over his face.
You froze for a second.
Not that you hadn’t spent the last thirty minutes beside him already, but this felt different somehow.
Every interaction with him since the moment you first recognized him made you want to cry, scream, jump around, and hug him all at once. But thanks to countless TikTok videos about invasive fans, you knew better than to do anything weird. So you tried your hardest to act normal despite being exhausted, drunk, and completely overwhelmed.
“Can you really come in here? What if people recognize you?” you asked as he approached, stopping close enough for his arm to brush against yours.
“I already handled that. Come on.” He gently grabbed your arm. “You’re walking in zigzags. It’d be even worse if you fall with your face, hit the ground and have a couple of teeth broken.” He joked.
His grip was firm but careful as he guided you toward the entrance.
The second you stepped inside, the sharp scent of disinfectant and the freezing hospital air filled your senses. While Jungkook walked off to speak with one of the doctors, you sat awkwardly in the waiting room. The staff barely reacted to him, which somehow told you this wasn’t his first time here.
“You’re the young woman accompanying Mr. Jeon, correct?” A nurse approached holding a clipboard.
Hearing his name spoken out loud immediately filled your face with confusion. As if sensing it, Jungkook walked closer and simply nodded. “A-ah… yes?” you answered uncertainly.
“Alright, come with me.” The nurse smiled politely before leading the way.
“O-oh, okay.” You hurried after her.
Inside a small examination room, you sat on the edge of the bed while the nurse adjusted the light.
An older doctor entered the room, greeting both you and Jungkook. She shook his hand with warmth, like they met before.
“So, you hit your forehead on the edge of a table?” she asked.
“Uh… yeah,” you admitted shyly.
“Did you drink alcohol tonight?” the doctor continued while soaking cotton with antiseptic.
You glanced at Jungkook in embarrassment. “Yes… a few bottles of soju.”
“How many exactly?” she asked while gently pressing the cotton against the cut.
“Honestly… I don’t know.” You gripped the bedsheet from the sting, letting out a quiet whine of pain.
“Since you’ve been drinking, I’d rather keep you under observation with IV fluids, hydration, and pain medication,” the doctor explained while placing a small bandage over your forehead.
Your eyes widened instantly. “IV? Like… needles?” you asked in horror.
“Yes, intravenous fluids,” she replied casually while writing down the prescription. “The nurse will be here shortly.”
The doctor left the room, leaving only you and Jungkook behind. He stood leaning against the wall, scrolling through his phone.
“Uh… okay, how do I say this…” you called his attention hesitantly. “Mr. Jungkook—”
“You know who I am already. Just call me Jungkook,” he interrupted softly.
“Jungkook, I can’t pay for this. And I am definitely not getting stabbed with a needle.”
“I’ll cover it, obviously. And yes, you are getting it if the doctor prescribed it.” He looked genuinely confused by your stubbornness.
“It’s just… I’m scared of needles,” you admitted quietly.
The salmon-pink blush spreading across your cheeks amused him instantly.
“You don’t have to be scared. I’ll stay here with you.” He lifted the brim of his cap slightly, revealing a comforting smile and eyes that somehow shined brighter than the stars outside.
You froze again.
He was somehow even more beautiful in person.
A nurse soon entered the room carrying the supplies.
After a long amount of stalling and nervous complaining from you, Jungkook finally walked over and stood beside the bed.
“Hey, I already told you. Relax,” he said gently, one hand resting on your shoulder.
Taking a deep breath, you squeezed your eyes shut as the nurse inserted the needle into your arm, a small tear slipping down your cheek almost immediately.
“See? That barely hurt,” the nurse said with a kind smile.
“Yeah, sure,” A single tear falls down your left cheek.
After adjusting the IV and organizing the room, she quietly left.
Now it was just the two of you again.
When your hoodie had been removed earlier for the IV, left your bare arm exposed along with the small Love Yourself heart tattoo resting against your skin.
Just as your eyes started closing, Jungkook suddenly spoke.
“Is that the Love Yourself heart?” He was looking directly at your arm now.
“You hid it well at first.,” he commented while sitting down beside you.
“Well… I didn’t want you to think I was crazy,” you admitted, cheeks turning pink again.
“I’ve met crazy fans before,” he said with a small laugh. “People tried to break into my house, tried kissing me, even pulled on my clothes.” He glanced at you briefly. “Trust me, you’re not crazy.”
“Well… I’m glad to know I’m not crazy then,” you smiled.
“But why would you tattoo this?” he asked curiously. “It’s honestly intriguing to me. Can someone really inspire people that much?”
You let out a soft laugh.
“Well… this is kind of embarrassing.” You sighed quietly. “I found BTS when I was fifteen. It was a really difficult time for me. I was bullied basically my whole childhood, and right when changing schools finally made things better… my parents got divorced.”
Your voice softened.
“It was really hard for me back then. And then I found BTS.”
Jungkook listened silently.
“At first I thought it was just a phase. Something temporary.” You smiled faintly. “But it never passed. Every day I kept following BTS more and more. Honestly… I don’t think anyone helped me as much as you guys did.”
You finally said it out loud.
You hadn’t realized how heavy those feelings still were inside your chest.
“It’s crazy, helping someone you’ve never even met,” Jungkook said quietly. “I’m really happy. Genuinely happy. That you’re doing okay now.”
He smiled shyly.
“And honestly, I don’t think me and the boys could’ve made it this far without you or the other ARMYs either. We all have highs and lows.” His eyes softened as he looked at you. “I’m really glad we could help you through one of your lows.”
For a moment, it felt like you were fifteen again, hearing the exact words you once desperately needed to hear. Except now they were coming from one of the peoples you admired most.
The room smelled faintly like antiseptic and laundry detergent.
One of the ceiling lights had been turned off at some point, leaving only the warmer lamp near the sink illuminating the room in a soft yellow glow. Outside the door, you could still hear the occasional murmur of nurses talking quietly to each other as they passed through the hallway.
You were exhausted.
The adrenaline from meeting Jungkook was slowly losing the fight against the alcohol, the medication, and the fact that you had basically traveled across the planet in less than twenty-four hours.
Still, every time your eyes closed for more than a few seconds, your brain jolted awake again.
Because Jeon Jungkook was sitting three feet away from you in a hospital chair. Like… physically there.
It was genuinely difficult to process.
He had slouched down lower in the chair over time, one leg stretched out while the other stayed bent. His black hoodie looked soft and oversized now that he’d taken the jacket off, and the sleeves were pushed up slightly past his wrists, exposing the tattoos running along his arm whenever he scrolled on his phone.
He looked tired.
The kind where his posture loosened naturally and his eyes blinked slower than before.
Every now and then, he’d rub at one eye with the sleeve of his hoodie before looking back down at his phone again.
Your gaze stayed on him too long.
Again.
Without looking up, he spoke. “You do that a lot.”
Your stomach dropped instantly.“…Do what?”
“Stare.”
You immediately looked away like you’d been caught committing a crime. “I wasn’t staring.”
“You were literally zoning out looking directly at me.” Heat rushed into your face.
“I’m just trying to process this.” That finally made him look up from his phone.
“Process what?”
You stared at him like the answer should’ve been obvious. “This…You…The situation.”
Jungkook blinked once. Then the corner of his mouth lifted slightly.“…That sounds kind of ominous.”
“I’m serious,” you insisted quietly. “This is weird.”
“Weird for you?” he asked.
“Yes!”
He let out a soft laugh through his nose, shaking his head a little before locking his phone and tossing it onto his lap. “I promise I’m just a person.”
“No, see, that’s the problem,” you said immediately. “You don’t seem real.”
The words slipped out before you could stop them.
Jungkook looked at you differently after that. His expression softening a little around the edges, like he suddenly understood exactly what you meant.
“I get that a lot,” he admitted quietly.
Your chest tightened unexpectedly.
Even his voice sounded softer at this hour.
You pulled the blanket higher over yourself awkwardly. “Sorry. That probably sounded insane.”
“No,” he said quickly. “It didn’t.”
He leaned back further into the chair, tilting his head slightly as he looked at you. “I think sometimes people forget I’m also trying to process stuff too.”
You blinked. “What do you mean?”
He shrugged one shoulder casually, though his eyes drifted down toward his rings for a second.
“I don’t know. It’s weird for me too sometimes.” A small laugh escaped him. “Like… people know everything about me. Or at least the version they see online.” He glanced back at you. “But I know literally nothing about them.”
Something about the way he said it felt strangely honest.
You studied him quietly for a moment.
The messy hair. The sleepy eyes. The way his fingers absentmindedly played with the edge of his sleeve while he talked. He really did just feel like a guy right now.
A very, very pretty guy. Unfortunately, your mouth moved before your brain could stop it.
“You’re even prettier in person.”
Silence.
Absolute silence.
Jungkook stared at you. And you stared back in immediate horror.
“Oh my God,” you whispered, covering your face with both hands. “Please pretend I didn’t say that.”
A laugh escaped him instantly. His shoulders shook slightly while he ducked his head down, rubbing his hand over his mouth. “You say literally every thought that enters your brain, huh?”
“I’m sleep deprived.” You said.
“And drunk.” He completed.
“That too.” You groaned into your hands. “This is the worst moment of my life.”
“No, it’s definitely not,” he said immediately, still laughing a little.
You slowly lowered your hands just enough to peek at him.
He was smiling now. The kind that reached his eyes first.
Your heart did something deeply embarrassing.
“You know,” he said after a moment, “most people get quieter around me.”
“That sounds fake.”
“It’s true.”
“I physically can’t get quieter,” you admitted.
“Yeah, I noticed.”
You buried your face back into the blanket.
Jungkook tilted his head slightly, watching you for a second before speaking again. “I don’t think you understand how ‘weird’ this is.”
You looked up again. “Hm?”
He shrugged. “Well…you’re acting normal.”
You almost laughed. “I have cried four times tonight.”
“Exactly.”
“I almost threw up in your car.”
“You didn’t though.”
“I have tteokbokki stains on my hoodie.”
“That one’s embarrassing , yeah.”
You snorted despite yourself. And it became weirdly easy talking to him. You were not trembling or crying anymore. THANK GOD.
Like the surrealness faded just enough for your body to stop being so tense.
Jungkook noticed immediately.
You could tell by the way his posture relaxed too.
He picked his phone back up eventually, scrolling aimlessly for a few seconds before speaking again without looking at you. “You really worked three jobs for this trip?”
Your expression softened immediately.“…Yeah.”
“What jobs?”
You let out a small embarrassed laugh. “Well… I’m a biomedicine graduate. I finished university recently.”
His eyebrows lifted instantly. “Wait, seriously?”
You nodded shyly. “Mhm. I’m doing an part-time job as a waitress and cashier at starbucks right now.”
“That already sounds stressful.”
“It is,” you admitted with a tired laugh. “The pay isn’t exactly amazing yet either, but it helped me a lot.”
Jungkook hummed quietly, listening carefully.
“So during the week I worked at the lab, and at evening i work as a waitress. Then, at weekends i work as a cashier…”
He stared at you for a second.
By the end of it, he let out a quiet breath through his nose, shaking his head slightly. “That’s actually insane.”
You laughed softly. “Good insane or concerning insane?”
“A little both.” He paused,“…Thank you.”
You frowned slightly. “For what?”
He looked genuinely shy for the first time all night.
“For loving BTS that much.” His voice came out quieter now. “Seriously.”
Your chest tightened so hard it almost hurt.
Jungkook looked down immediately after saying it, thumb rubbing awkwardly against one of the rings on his fingers like he suddenly felt embarrassed for being sincere. Then he leaned back deeper into the chair, stretching one arm over his head tiredly. The sleeve of his hoodie pulled up slightly, exposing more of the tattoos running along his forearm.
“You know,” he said after a moment, voice quieter now, “sometimes I still get confused when people say stuff like that.”
You tilted your head slightly. “Like what?”
“That we helped them.” His gaze drifted toward the floor again briefly. “I mean… I know music can comfort people obviously, but hearing someone say we genuinely got them through something…” He shook his head once. “It’s hard to fully understand.”
Your expression softened. “You did though.” You sigh, “For a lot of people.”
Jungkook looked back at you silently.
“When things were really bad for me,” you admitted quietly, “BTS was the only thing I consistently looked forward to.”
The room grew still again. You swallowed awkwardly, suddenly hyperaware of how vulnerable you sounded.
“I know people say idols saved them all the time online and it probably sounds dramatic,” you continued softly, “but… sometimes having something to hold onto changes everything.”
Then he leaned forward slightly in the chair, resting his forearms against his knees. “That’s scary, you know.”
You blinked. “What is?”
He smiled faintly. “The idea that something I say or do could affect someone that much.” He rubbed his hands together absentmindedly. “Sometimes I wonder if I’m doing enough to deserve that kind of love.”
Your heart genuinely hurt hearing that. Maybe because for the first time that night, he didn’t sound like Jungkook from BTS. He just sounded like a twenty-something-year-old guy carrying way too much pressure on his shoulders.
“You don’t have to earn being loved,” you said quietly.
leaned back again, eyes drifting toward the ceiling.
“See?” he muttered after a moment. “That’s exactly the kind of thing I mean.”
You frowned slightly. “What?”
“You say stuff like it’s obvious.”
“Well… isn’t it?”
He glanced back at you, one eyebrow lifting a little like he wasn’t fully convinced.
“I don’t know,” he admitted honestly. “Maybe for you.”
You watched him for a second before speaking again.
“I think people get too used to treating celebrities like products,” you said quietly. “Like if you stop performing perfectly for two seconds, suddenly people think you failed them somehow.”
Jungkook gave a soft hum of agreement at that, gaze lowering again.
“And I think fans forget idols are just people too,” you added. “You guys can be talented and comforting and important to people without having to live how they want it.”
“You know,” he said quietly, “this is probably the strangest night I’ve had in a long time.”
A tired laugh escaped you. “You and me both.”
Jungkook smiled a little at that. It was so good seeing him laugh at something that you said.
Your eyes suddenly widened in realization . “Oh my God.”
Jungkook looked up immediately. “What?”
“I never texted my family.” The words came out horrified.
You grabbed your phone from beside the pillow so fast the IV line tugged slightly against your arm, causing you to whine and rub your arm.
“I traveled to another country and basically disappeared for like twelve hours,” you said, panic rising in your voice. “My mom is actually going to think I died.”
Jungkook blinked once. “…Okay, yeah, that’s bad.”
“She was already nervous about me traveling alone!” you continued, unlocking your phone frantically. “Oh my God, she’s probably awake right now.”
Jungkook sat up straighter instantly as realization hit him too. “Wait.”
You looked up.
“You cannot tell them you’re with me.”
You stared at him. “…What?.”
“I’m serious.”
You tried not to laugh at how genuinely alarmed he suddenly looked.
“If your family tells someone, and then someone posts it somewhere, and then somehow it spreads—”
“My mother barely knows how to post on Facebook.”
“That’s not the point.”
“She sees A.I puppies dancing and asks me if they’re real.”
That finally made him crack a smile.
Still, he leaned forward slightly, lowering his voice instinctively. “Just… maybe leave me out of the story.”
You snorted softly.
“So what am I supposed to say? ‘Hey mom, sorry I vanished after landing in Korea. I got drunk, hit my head on a table, and a mysterious man drove me to the hospital’?”
Jungkook pointed at you immediately. “Absolutely not the mysterious man part.”
You laughed despite yourself. “Relax. I’m not exposing you to my mother.”
“She could accidentally post it.” He says.
“She believes BTS is a clothing brand.’”
Jungkook physically covered his face for a second, laughing quietly. “Okay, that’s actually better, but you can’t.”
You quickly started typing your message while mumbling under your breath. “‘Hi mom, sorry for disappearing, my flight got delayed, I missed check-in, then I got dizzy after drinking and ended up at the hospital—’”
Jungkook’s eyes widened. “Maybe don’t include the drinking part either.”
“What? Why?”
“Because then I sound irresponsible.”
“You ARE irresponsible. You let a concussed drunk girl into your car.”
“Actually, YOU are irresponsible. How come you go to a foreign country and drink your ass off, then hit your head on a table.”
“That is not the point.”
“It is actually.” He says, putting a hand on your arm. “Just tell her you had a headache or something.” He leaned in slightly. “Or do I need to make you sign an NDA?”
You stared at him for a second before letting out a shy laugh. “What?.”
“I’m serious,” he said, though the grin pulling at the corner of his mouth completely ruined the effect. “One tweet about it and my company’s dragging me into a six-hour meeting tomorrow.”
“You think I’d expose you after you literally carried me into a hospital?”
“You’d be surprised what people do for clout.” The teasing in his voice softened the sentence, but there was still something honest underneath it.
In a way, you understood why he was acting like this. You and Jungkook had met, what, two hours ago? So… okay. Fair enough.
Considering the kind of experiences he’d probably had with strangers before, it made sense for him to be cautious.
Still, you couldn’t help feeling a tiny sting in your chest “I’m not going to do that,” you called out.
There was a brief silence.
“I know.” The sincerity in his tone caught you off guard.
You really wanted to tell your mom everything. Every insane, unbelievable detail. But one look at those worried eyes had completely destroyed your ability to say no to him.
So, instead of telling the whole story, you only said you were delayed and were waiting for the check in time. Which has passed 1 hour ago, and you did not realized that.
