instead of making Mike's character be (the most) well-written, queer, complex and layered character with great rep not just on repression but depression as well, they made his whole character about El

His whole arc is El, his whole point is grieving El, his ending is grieving El forever, his trauma is El's trauma, his character is never moving on, Mike Wheeler has officially become a really shitty boyfriend who doesn't think he can do anything better than have a superhero girlfriend

Instead of being our Mike Wheeler, he was just a boyfriend plot device, whose whole existance this season was to tell us just how painful El's sacrifice was, instead of making it actually painful
