Princess Jill is, by far, the largest of all the puppies which is pretty uncommon! It's usually one of the boys that wins the Chonkiest Puppy trophy.
She's also an absolute sweetheart and a huge cuddlebug. Very chill and laid back for Royalty.

Puppies are 1 week old today! Here are the girls. Only one liver female, but a few potential long coats! One of these little cuties is gonna be ours in just 7 weeks 🥹
Even little puppies need to stop and smell the roses from time to time!
1 week old foal by Cecilie Sønsteby Via Flickr: It was pouring down at the time. Both the horse and myself was wet to the bone.
Baby girl is a week old today! She’s (*knocks on wood*) an incredibly mellow and cuddly baby and she has spent the entirety of the week held in arms. The kids are all still over the moon for her, with my oldest (10yo) and youngest (2yo) especially attached to her already.
Some standouts about her:
She has a single dimple in her left cheek that perfectly mirrors the single dimple in her 8yo brother’s right cheek.
Her tongue tie has resulted in her having a slightly forked tongue that is shaped like a heart.
She was born with a full head of dark hair.
She hates being swaddled or having her arms confined in any way.
Since she came two weeks earlier than I anticipated, I had very little prepared for her or our household. We’ve run a lot of errands in the last few days with the little one safely ensconced in a baby wrap.
When E was first born, husband told me he wanted to get a vasectomy. I wanted to be supportive of his reproductive freedom, so as a show of support, I donated all of the baby clothes. I saved the newborn stuff, and some sentimental pieces, but everything else is gone. Until 12 months when he changed his mind, and then I started saving stuff again. So I need to buy a bunch of baby clothes, too.
The kids are in love with her, but also reeling from their time with their grandparents. We are currently on a screen time and sugar detox for all four kids. The first two days were rough but we appear to be turning the corner.
Speaking of grandparents, my mother-in-law came to help my dad with the kids while I was in the hospital. She took it upon herself to do the laundry, which I was admittedly behind on. Turns out that she sprained her leg while doing the laundry.
And I want to feel bad, truly I do. But she will also always be the woman that threatened to try to take my kids away from me. So when she sprains her leg and then admits that she had no idea how much work it was to even do laundry for our kids? There’s more satisfaction than sympathy. Like, that’s right, you couldn’t even handle their laundry, let alone erase me and take my place.
Anyway, despite how horrible that may sound, I am honestly in a good place. My body is healing nicely from pregnancy and childbirth, the hormone shift has been pretty smooth so far (sometimes it is accompanied by migraines). The kids are getting back into a routine, husband is home on paternity leave, and my days and nights are filled with adorable newborn cuddles. There’s so much to be grateful for.
So, on Mother’s Day I bought my mom a pot of sunflowers.... they died... quickly (I felt like crap but then I saw the other pots sold from the store were dead a few weeks later as well) so I went and I bought seeds, soil and I’ve been caring for these babies for about a week now. They’ve grown so much and I’m so proud of my success this far. Anything to bring some happiness to my mom♥️ 🌻
I made this video of them today, slowed it down and saved it in 4K.

Yesterday, little munchkin was already a week old! She’s pretty perfect and we couldn’t be more in love. I am so lucky my wife is off work for a bit, she’s the reason we can all get some sleep and haven’t yelled at each other.
Lots happened since discharge. We had her tongue tie cut on the 25th and she can finally stick it out past her lower gum line. She still hasn’t been latching well, we’ve seen 2 lactation consultants, first on Thursday was helpful, suggested a shield and to keep encouraging her but confirmed she had lost a bit of weight again. Then second today, she had lost a little bit again so we tried a smaller shield since baby girl has a TINY mouth. It helped and we’ve been using that since with better results but still not great.
We’ve switched from the tube feed top ups to just plain bottles. Clearly the tubes were still too much work for her and as much as I didn’t want to risk our BF relationship, I couldn’t put her in harms way. (Birth 7lb 8oz, now 6lb 14oz, smallest was day 2 at 6lb 12oz) She’s doing better, go back to LC #1 on Tuesday and hope she’s put on some weight!
NB clothes are even still a bit big on her, even some NB diapers are. All the diapers we swiped from the hospital have been gone through, now working on freebies from Huggies etc. I hate seeing how much garbage we’re making but she’s so tiny and we’re so tired we can’t switch to our cloth yet. Soon.
Happy Easter from the babies. They are all happy and healthy and adorable. They are 9 days old now.
