I finally got around to writing something about running my first 100-mile ultra at the the Centurion Running Thames Path 100 in 2017. It's almost a year since this happened and I've almost forgotten how much it hurt. Almost. Not quite enough to go again though. At least not yet.
This photo captured the moment just after I crossed the line after 27 hours of running. These guys are family and the best crew an ultra runner could wish for. They followed me all the way, fed me dates and water melon, put up with my moaning and never stopped believing in me. Without them, and a few more people who didn’t make the photo, I wouldn’t have completed what’s arguably my biggest running achievement so far.
If you fancy reading what it’s like it’s over on my main website.
Sustainable Thanksgiving [Infographic] | ecogreenlove

I love this infographic, is from 2002 and yet it doesn’t get old since is still applicable.
“In the spirit of using less fuel and supporting #localfarms and #foodartisans, we challenge you to try a #100mileThanksgiving. A 100-mile Thanksgiving uses ingredients sourced from within 100 miles of your dinner table. Think of it as an opportunity to celebrate local food, rather than an obligation to source every last ingredient from within 100 miles. Food miles, or the amount of miles a certain product has traveled to its final destination, are an important consideration when trying to reduce your carbon footprint and the amount of oil and gasoline used in making a #meal.”

Track Your Miles: Are You Ready for the 100-Mile Challenge?
Track Your Miles: Are You Ready for the 100-Mile Challenge?
We are doing this in June!!! The extreme planner in me is wondering if we have covered all bases so that we can make sure we are successful! So, I went out and gathered a little information to make sure we are ready! First things first! We have to make sure we are able to track our miles. I mean how will you know you hit 100-Miles if you can’t track yourself! I guess you can tell by all of the…

Race Report: Savage 100
Race Report: Savage 100
Prologue
I’ve been in the trail and ultra running world for 5 years. In that time I’ve tried my hand at a whole host of different races, both in distance and format. However, I had yet to try a 100 mile race, and I decided that 2019 would be the year that I would consider giving it a shot. Despite not pulling the trigger on registering for the Savage 100 race until late in the summer, I had been…

Bob Shebest | Everyone Has a Plan Until it Falls Apart
Bob Shebest lined up for Western States this year in prime shape. He’d put in solid training with a high mileage block timed just right. He’d podiumed at other races in the past year and had specific experience racing from Squaw to Auburn before. He had a quality race plan that he’d thought through a million times. This would be a big day.
Looking good!
And it was all going well during the race.…

Burning River 100 Mile 8 Person Relay Post Race Report
It’s not like my wife to give me more ideas of what races to put on the calendar. I’m always adding to and taking away from my scheduled events, but she surprised me with this one. I was on my way home from work one evening this past January when she told me that John J.C. Stouffer, from the Cleveland Triathlon Club, put a call out on Facebook, that he was looking for another runner for the…
