The situation is optimal.

They are relaxed, enjoying one another’s company on the couch; not a new scenario, but they are sitting much closer than they usually do.

Heero is suitably nervous, though excited. It is thrilling to think that moving his head slightly to the left and stretching upward just an inch or two will put his lips in direct contact with Duo’s.

A seemingly small hurdle, yet insurmountable.

Heero very much wants to kiss him. It would be easier knowing Duo wants him to. He decides to pull away, putting some space between them.

Duo’s disappointment is easy to read, but Heero does not know if it is because he had not succeeded or that he had even tried.

Tilted

The light coming from a string of pinpoints passes through my smudged glasses on the way to my mind’s eye, each starburst bright, aligned, stretching and tilting into diagonal lines and shifting colors etching into my sight.

There are stories we sing, all with the drugged timbre of ecstasy that rings like amber-scattered light. Intimate chatter. My voice is among the choir, as always, kindling our communal fire. I should meet your gaze, but the lights feel so distant when reflected from someone else’s eyes, and their claim on my attention is persistent. So as we analyze, aggrandize, agonize, I listen to every lick of our conversations’ flame, I taste this story-night in the air, and I stare at the lights.

Trinity heard a key in the lock… and footsteps traipsing though the flat.

A bag on the floor, the shoes put in the right position, and the he… walked into the bedroom, to fall face first onto the bed over her.

“mnhello…” he spoke to the bed.

“… welcome back, Richard…”

He grunted.

“… I’m glad you are back, but why are you… still wearing clothes?” – he didn’t even move.

He snapped his fingers.

And she didn’t wear her pyjamas anymore.

Affronted, she frowned at him.

But he climbed under the blanket and snuggled every part he could reach.

She had two arms full of clothed Richard.

SHe was mostly out of it.

She settled and kissed his forehead.  Slly man.
