DM: 15-C, your footman, shows Maria into the sitting room.
Tati (playing Seraph): I say, "Sorry to be cryptic. We have a question about your past-"
M (playing Kjell): "Were your whole family horribly murdered by a djinn?"
DM: Maria takes a moment.
Adam (playing Billie): "We have a bottled djinn in our possession, and it claims to have killed a noble family called Cleaves a long time ago."
DM: She pulls out a chair and doesn't quite collapse into it, but sits heavily. She looks at Billie. "How did you come by this object?"
M: "The God and the God."
DM: She almost rolls her eyes. "Of course."
DM: "What does this djinn look like?"
Andy (playing Una): "Big and blue. Their name is Hammelat."
DM: She breathes out. "Hammelat. Yes, my entire family was murdered by this djinn. Including me, after a fashion. May I have the lamp?"
Tati: I ask, "If you're going to kill the djinn, would you like help?"
DM: She says, "I don't need help."
Tati: "I didn't ask if you needed help."
Andy: I say loudly, "It's not the djinn's fault, it's a slave."
M: "Killing it won't help."
Adam: "Can we circle back to how you died but you're still alive?"
DM: She looks coolly at Billie. "No, we're not going to circle back to that at this time." Then she looks sadly at Una and Kjell. "Maybe you're right. I've been running from or toward this for so long, but revenge so rarely brings any kind of closure. It wasn't the djinn's fault."
Andy: "Who called out the hit on your family?"
DM: "House Damalan, a bloodline that ended a long, long time ago."
Hamish (playing Thaddeus): "At your hand?"
Andy: "Why did they want your family dead? What was the feud?"
DM: She becomes sad again. "Land disputes, I think. It's hard to remember. I was very young at the time."
Hamish: "Oh. And you somehow survived death??"
Adam: "How old are you really??"
M: Don't ask a woman that!!
Hamish: History check on the last record of House Damalan.
DM: You have never seen any record of them.
