WIP Saturday Sunday 📝

Didn't get officially tagged by anyone but @gottagetshiver "tagged" anyone who hadn't been tagged yet so I'm going to take it lol.

I've only been working on this for a week and it'll be a while (at least a month) before I get to the point where I'm ready to start posting chapters, but here you go - a sneak peek at the beginning of my 1990s fake dating dnf fic!

For as long as he could remember, which varied depending on who asked, Dream had an interesting relationship with… well, relationships. Some lasted years, others a matter of minutes. One-night stands who flew in and out of his life like hummingbirds, long-term partners who waited patiently at the edges of his heart, hoping to be let in but leaving when it was obvious his affections lay elsewhere.

Ah yes… the one that got away.

A pang of regret still remained, of lingering at the edge of a faint line traced in the sand. Dream had considered crossing it so many times, bringing his toes to the edge but ultimately staying on his side, where it was safe. If he dared to take even the slightest step beyond the periphery of his sheltered heart, it would shatter everything.

Hindsight brought regret. Regret brought heartache, like that Whitney Houston song, the one about holding on in the rain and living on feelings. He had the lyrics memorized, having listened to that song more often than any other.

None of that mattered now though, and he didn’t really know why he was thinking about relationships of all things, not when he had a flight to catch.
