she’s the cutest ever
nothing like 20+ years of friendship ending with an office joke. i'm suffering.
i really had to sit with those eps for a bit but here are my very disorganized thoughts!
i of course have to speak first on my girl!! i have to get the gay swooning out of the way and say she was so incredibly beautiful in these episodes oh my god. her hair looked amazing and i was really loving some of these outfits on her (the green and black tops!!) the lesbianspreading went crazy every time she sat too. aside from that i adored how much content we got of that wry sense of humor of hers <3 her sarcasm and wit are some of my favorite things about her and i feel like we got so much of that in the silliest way which i’m always a big fan of she makes me laugh so much. she is also just a sweet and kind angel as always i appreciated those little moments of acknowledgement or support for the others like jj needing penelope to move or tara’s kindness in offering to go see voit so no one else would have to. i’m sure i’ll have more to say about emily as i revisit the episodes
i really felt for jj in the first episode and seeing her not only have to continue to adjust to being a widow but also that dread of knowing her son won’t be home with her anymore soon. her conversations with the victim she was interviewing especially were rough for her because it was just all this salt in the wound about how she could never handle what jj is going through and how empty her house is gonna be like poor girl is painfully aware of that. she does it cause she has no other choice
luke :(( oh my sweet luke. episode two was incredibly painful to watch not only as a luke fan but for personal reasons as well. i mostly had to take some time to gather my thoughts because this episode was affecting me a lot but i can really empathize with the pain of him losing roxy. seeing him question if it was his fault or if it would have changed things he had brought her in sooner was so upsetting and watching him say goodbye to her was completely gut wrenching. i prepared the whole episode for it and it still wasn’t enough. on top of that hearing him speak about his struggles with suicidal thoughts really has me worried for him and i just hope he can get as much support as he can when he inevitably hits rock bottom this season. i’m already preparing for it and i’m thrilled that us luke fans are getting more of a glimpse into his life and history but boy is it gonna be painful. as awful as everything was it was so good to see that penelope was let in on what was happening with him and that she was there for him my garvez i love you so much. i did squeal in the moment at tara directing everyone to her when they were worried about luke but wow that is so powerful. i don’t wanna make his entire struggle about shipping because i really like to prioritize characters but in this case i really believe it goes hand in hand. penelope is his person and i’m so glad that he has her by his side right now and i hope he continues to let her in and lean on her from a garvez perspective and also for his own good
i also wanna shout out penelope for her emotional intelligence here. in situations like these it can be incredibly difficult not to push or pry and overstep and i know how strongly she feels and empathizes with people. all she wants to do is be there but she does such an amazing job at balancing providing the support luke needs while not expecting too much of him despite her inevitable worrying. she has such a strength both in knowing him so well and just being a safe place for any of her loved ones to land. penelope garcia i love you i wish there were a million of you in this world
on a lighter note married tarbecca!! the way rebecca was being with voit in that scene is so funny to me like yeah not everything is about your damn divorce!
overall these episodes were genuinely so good and it has me really excited (and scared) for the rest of the season!! these were really great tv like such a strong start to a season wow
