I wasn’t here last year and I’m kind of glad. I think cancellation in real time would’ve killed me.

It must’ve been the cancellation noise which alerted me to the show because I came to it knowing it had happened.

Like Ed, I fell hard and fast.

And then grief hit, belatedly, but horribly nonetheless.

I adore this show on many levels. It’s healed things £££ of therapy never reached. It helped me better accept my neurodiversity, realise I’m likely demi, and despite being white-passing, explore parts of my south Asian heritage I didn’t fully acknowledge before.

It’s made me braver. It’s made me calmer.

Stede Bonnet lives in my DNA now. He has changed my brain chemistry forever.

I am sad we might never get a season 3, but I am so happy this show existed for even 18 episodes.

I feel there was a tear in the universe somewhere; that it got through, and we were never actually supposed to see it at all.

There’s something so real and honest here about the human condition. It’s a glitch in the matrix. A wonder that keeps the stars apart. And I shall always be grateful for that.

I searched high and low for the words to help me reconcile how I have felt. I searched for quotes that may help me make peace with the fact that you're still gone, it's not some extra long holiday that you're gonna eventually come back from. You're not coming home and that really hurts. What hurts the most is the fact that the Dr made the choice to not resuscitate you against my wishes. I cannot help but think that maybe if he had given u a chance that maybe you would have held out a little longer, at the very least long enough for us to say goodbye. I just wish I could communicate with u in some way just one more time...just to see if you're mad at me, or what the food is like wherever you are... I was looking though some old pics and I remembered you loved Helen Steiner Rice, there must be words of hers that would help me. I'm gonna say that in that moment you did communicate with me, cos the first poem that came up was this and I instantly felt calmer, because this is exactly the sort of thing you would say if you could. #day22 of #100daysofpractice: a day late but I wanted to share a recording taken from a fairly significant night below. Today's actual progress: shiatsu should be mandatory for all violinists - either to learn or get some kind of discount, we are that common. Better, but definitely not finished yet. Back on #dvorak7 for another concert, got @thegtpo on Sunday and off to Saskatoon on Monday! Anyway, story! 📖 . So a year ago yesterday I was having a fairly dismal and solitary long weekend, no family here, boo hoo. So I decided to do laundry. Stick with me on this, it gets better. Even that failed because I couldn't use a dryer. So I go up to my apartment, hanging dripping black wet things on all surfaces in high dudgeon 😡 likely muttering to myself, when I heard something outside. It was coming from the park nearby where people perform sometimes but it wasn't like anything I'd heard before. So with curiosity/ profound distaste for more laundry-related activities, I wandered out in laundry day clothes to see three guys. One on a laptop and keyboard with speakers all around him, one with a mike, one filming. .📹📷🎼🎶🎹🎤💻🔊 I sort of half-hovered, half-ran up to them and blurted out, "you guys are amazing, I don't have any cash on me but can I buy you a coffee?" They were pretty nice to the nervy laundry lady accosting them and I booked it to the nearest Timmy's. .❄☕❄ . Shuffle-jogged back with spilling coffee and icy streets to boot, pleasantly surprised to see them still there. They had been shut down by a local and the cops showed up, politely checked they were done and moved on. They asked me to come jam with them once they found out I played music. .🚓🔇🔕 We ended up playing 3 open mics that night. They invited me into a Toronto musical family when I was pretty alone. I'm still grateful.
