Viv goes snooping at Richie’s and Richie and Sarah play a bit of hide and seek (really, same day as Ryan’s post 😂). Jack returns home with the boys having done tea for them. Jack’s been crying. Victoria tells jokes to the others. When Sarah shows up, Robert doesn’t want to see her. Jack and Sarah have words and Jack basically tells her the kids don’t have a mother anymore.
Jack: Robert’s right. You are sick.
Sarah: Just give me five minutes to explain to them, Jack.
Jack: As far as they’re concerned, they don’t have a mother anymore.
Sarah: Please don’t turn them against me!
Jack: Are you stupid! They don’t want to see ya! Come in and find out for yourself if you want!

Richie tries to make Sarah see that it was for the best as her marriage was dead, Jack didn’t love her anymore. Richie goes off to work since he still has to pay the rent for their place. Robert offers to help Jack and wonders if they should just sell and live in Spain with Annie. Things get a bit tense but the two of them wind up laughing thanks to muck. There will be three parts for the second half of the episode.
Jack: I know this whole thing’s… an embarrassment to you, son.
Robert: Why do people bother getting married in the first place?
Jack: I don’t know. Can’t remember.
Robert: Do you think mum is doing this to get back at ya cause you did the dirty on her?
Jack: You’ll have to ask her that.
Robert: No way! Don’t even want to see her. You could though…

It’s the morning after and Jack has the task of telling the boys of Sarah having left him. Robert is blindsided that Sarah is with Richie. Sarah is all over the place. The consequences and realization of going off with a 19yo is starting hit Sarah hard. Robert goes on about Sarah and Richie (wishing ‘Richie were dead’) and Jack blasts him for thinking of only himself. This is the first half of the first part of the episode. Andy: What am I gonna say to folk?
Jack: Nothing. There’s no need to say anything to anybody outside the family, not for the time being.
Robert: Well if this gets out, I’m not going back to school. I’d rather stay and be a farmer, it’s THAT bad.
Andy: He can be a right prat.
