I think I had fun making this! There’s plenty of other characters I could choose from so tell me if you’d wanna see more.

Has Harley ever met Karai? Or does she only know about her in passing because of what Leo has told her? How does she feel about her either way? (Well I can assume she hates Karai after Karai takes up the Shredder mantel and goes in on destroying lair and failing to kill the guys but I'm curious more about what she thinks of her before all that)

So Harley, of course, isn’t fond of Karai. She gets a few varying reports of what kind of person she is from the boys’ accounts. Raphael calls her a snake, says they should do away with her. Mikey doesn’t like her. Thinks she’s an underhanded and brutal fighter and it’s unfortunate that she’s been in league with the Shredder so long she even thinks like him. Even though she has helped them out a time or two. Donnie’s assessment is she’s brilliant and ruthless. Kinda wishes they’d stop crossing paths with her.

And Leonardo…feels sorry for her. Not in a pathetic and pitiable way— but he can see that she knows and understands what is right and what is honorable. He admires that in her, it makes her a skilled fighter. She just… chooses wrong. And Harley tries to see Leo’s side of things, mainly because she only has these few descriptions by which to make a judgement,

After Exodus all that changes. Harley can’t look at Leo’s scar without thinking of Karai. Raphael’s little tease about how ‘Karai should stab you more often bro’ is met with an even nastier glare from Harley than it is from Leo. As Leo’s PTSD gets worse and manifests more harshly with him, Harley finds it more and more difficult to actually get through to him and talk him out of his moments of anger. And eventually they get into a really bad argument and have a falling out shortly before his outburst that gets him sent to Japan. Harley also begins to resent Karai for this, because from her perspective it was his sympathy for Karai that led him to trust her and created the chain of reactions that lead to all this.

After Leo leaves, Harley attends the summer working an internship in Foot Tech Tower, in the mail room. She didn’t tell anyone, and started staying with her Aunt Laura, Casey’s mom, in the city. She was hoping to get information about the tower and Karai’s movements in the hopes it could help her friends.

She manages to actually work her way up to a part time employee with a paycheck (age 17), and be authorized to some of the lab floors to deliver more important mail. She even comes across Karai once, in one of the upper floor lobbies. They have a tense but friendly chat, and Karai up until this point hasn’t ever seen or met Harley. Harley wasn’t involved enough in the Turtles’ fighting in the city that they never came across Foot Ninja situations when they were with Harley, so she isn’t a known associate of them. There was an investigation launched when Harley applied for the internship, because of her relation to Casey. But it was decided that she, along with Casey’s mother aren’t aware of the turtles and are therefore not directly associated.

After the raid on the Lair, and the turtles are presumed dead, Harley has to keep herself very much together. And at this point then locks in on a new idea; Karai has to pay. For everything. And so Harley starts scheming, forming an elaborate plot to basically destroy all the mailing records and archives in the Tower by planting small charges set to go off at a specific time and basically start fires all over the building in the most flammable places. Where they keep all the dusty folders files and electrical messes of fire hazard waiting to happen. And in the chaos, Harley intended to find Karai and make an attempt on her life. Fully expecting to die in the process. Didn’t matter. She wanted vengeance.

After Leo returns, he does dissuade her from her plot just before she’d planned on executing it, and takes care of Karai in the face off as according to the original storyline. Karai never really figures out who Harley is, because the next time they meet, Harley has already undergone her mutation arc and the Tribunal Arc is well underway. Despite the begrudging truce put in place….Harley attacks Karai on sight and has to be pulled off her.

Truce or not, Harley never forgives Karai or finds a reason to like her.
