I forgot to post these last year, but here was my 2017 New Year Resolutions. I still have a lot of work to do in some areas, but overall, 2017 was a very productive year. :D Here’s to another productive one!

2017 Goals Wrap Up
As I’m making 2018 goals, it’s time to look back on how I did in 2017. Below are my goals and the results. Overall, feeling good!
THE RESULTS!
Do more of the following than I did in 2016:
Be active (bit of a toss-up; I was traveling and sick for a bit so I wasn’t super diligent but I also started hiking more and doing at home workouts and joined a new gym)
Drink water (YES)
Be nice to my dad (...Gonna have to try this again.)
Edit and post photos (I did edit some but didn’t post any.)
Compliment others (Getting better)
Eat fruits and veggies (Yep!)
Stretch (Half credit lol)
Tell the people I love that I love them (Actually YES ❤)
Be educated on political and world issues (It’s depressing but I’m doing it.)
Take photos of myself and family/friends when we’re out (partial credit)
Do less of the following than I did in 2016:
Be afraid (I had planned to say maybe but I did some pretty courageous things this year so I’m counting it as a win.)
Fail to pay attention to others (I did better!)
Spend money on things I don’t like (Much better! Spend money on food and you can’t lose on this one lol!)
Focus on the destination and forget to enjoy the drive (I very much enjoyed the drive, especially in Michigan.)
Also:
Travel (YES YES YES! Alaska, Canada, Niagara Falls, Michigan, Boston, Roseville, Albany, San Diego, San Jose)
Write (Omg I published multiple fics so like what even??)
Read (Probably about the same (why doesn’t goodreads count fanfic?))
Eat something new (Lots of fish, a small portion of which I liked. I also tried duck and various shellfish.)
Visit a friend out of state (YES! In Canada and Michigan.)
Meet John Barrowman (dream big!) (My friend did but I did not. Boo.)
and yeah, while I’m at it I’ll put “Meet Peter Capaldi” on here again because let’s go ahead and make that an annual thing (IT HAPPENED AGAIN YOU GUYS OMG! And he is honestly the sweetest human being alive. I still keep thinking it was a freaking dream I had but no! We chatted a few minutes and he’s just the best and also far too handsome irl. I’m still blushing.)
2017 Goals Wrap Up Post: This Year Was A Dumpster Fire
Yooooooooooooooooooooo, I basically did jack shit about my goals this year even though my goals were really stupid easy. I wanted to get back into good habits and that didn’t happen. Basically at all.
But in the interest of accountability and data integrity, here’s my wrap up post.
Below the cut are my original goals and my end of year comments are in italics.
2017 Goals
Since the combination of illness and pregnancy is keeping me kind of attached to my couch, I figured I’d finally look back at my 2017 goals in preparation for making my 2018 goals.
2017 Goals
Run a 5k
Run a 10k (run/walk if necessary)
Read 16 books (limiting this because of school)
Get As in my 4 pre-reqs
Determine my last 2 recommenders from those 4 classes
Get pregnant!
Finish the 10k running program
Stay active when pregnant!
Honestly, I’m pretty proud of myself this year.
1. Run a 5k
I achieved this early by running in the Frozen 5k in downtown Cincinnati in February. I crushed my time goal so much that I almost cried once I realized I was near the end of the course. It was awesome and incredibly motivating. It also wasn’t anywhere near as cold as it often is according to many of the other runners. I hope to go to that race again and maybe do the 10k.
2. Run a 10k (run/walk if necessary)
I signed up for the Flying Pig 10k. My goal was to be under 1:15 and not walk. I achieved both of those, but it was awful. I know digestive issues while running are fairly common, but I had never had any issues so I think there must have been something else going on. I felt sick very early into the race. My GPS also messed up and told me I was a mile from the finish line when I had at least 2 if not 3 left and totally messed up my pace. I felt sick the rest of the day. But, I achieved my goals and left proud of it.
Oh, also, I didn’t know it at the time but I was pregnant. So maybe that’s why I felt awful! But now I can tell baby girl that I carried her across my first 10k finish line.
3. Read 16 books
I’ve been really up and down with my reading this year, but managed to read a lot more than I expected to considering I spent half of the year in school. I’ve completed 21 books and have 3 I did not finish for various reasons. I intend to finish 2 of them, but I just wasn’t that in to the 3rd one. I killed this goal!
4. Get As in my pre-reqs.
I did this! The first class of Anatomy & Physiology got a little dicey at the end but I have all As on my transcript.
5. Determine my last 2 recommenders from those classes
Also did this. The two professors I had for the two sessions of Anatomy & Physiology were happy to recommend me to the program at Xavier.
6. Get Pregnant!
Success. Now 37 weeks pregnant and so incredibly done. I had hoped to get pregnant a month or two earlier but this works out so well too and I’m so thankful to both get pregnant and on a timeline that makes things work for school.
7. Finish the 10k training program
I think I did this? I ran a 10k, so probably? Haha.
8. Stay active while pregnant
The one I failed to do. When I first got pregnant, I was nauseated about 100% of the time and it was so hot and humid that I just couldn’t get myself to do it. As I got farther along, i was both limited by my early decision to not work out and my own general laziness. But now I’m itching to get back out running!
Goals for 2018 coming soon!
2017 GOALS
1. Focus on writing I’m going to shift away from having a reading goal this year. I want to really focus more on writing, and read more leisurely, whether it be re-reading favourite books (which I haven’t done in a while) or buying books at random.
UM did this not quite happen. I started writing like 3 different things seriously and completed nothing. Also, no reading goal was not good for me.
2. Eat well I’m dairy free like 90% of the time and overall vegan like 80% of the time because I mostly eat fruits/veggies and carbs. I want to continue eating mostly plant based, and perhaps try being 100% vegan for a while (maybe do the 30-day vegan challenge and see how my body reacts?)
PLOT TWIST, I ate more vegetables and fruit than ever and became 100% vegan since July!
3. Exercise regularly Once my gym is done I know I’ll want to work out more. Also important to go on walks when the weather is nice. I don’t want to have strict goal with exercise, but I’d like to be active 3-4 times a week in some way.
Again, I usually work out Jan-March and then have a break until like Oct/Nov. But.....I barely exercised past March. Need to get back into it.
4. Movies Instead of trying to reach 52 new to me movies, I’m going to make a short list (Aviator, The Thin Man series, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland x2, From Here to Eternity, etc.) of movies I’ve been meaning to watch and watch those.
Did not watch Aviator or the Thin Man series but meh. I feel like this goal was blah.
5. Career I need to figure out where I want to go in terms of work (location, role, etc.). Also want to be making more money - I have a review in 2017 which is where you get a raise but if I end up switching jobs this year I want to be making more than I do now.
I’m still at the same job (over a year, a new record) but exciting changes have been planned for 2018! I got the top raise possible in 2017 for my one year anniversary as well.
6. Socializing Hang out/go out with friends at least once a week! And maybe visit my family more LOL
Why do I always say this kind of stuff, knowing damn well I am a compete hermit at heart? I think I hung out with people like once a month lmao but saw my family about once a week at least!
7. Be less selfish Find 1 or 2 causes and donate regularly. Volunteer. Ideally, these would revolve around books/nature and helping women.
Only did one tree planting but donated more than ever before! I have a lot of volunteering and donating planned for 2018.
I'm going to end this year right by keeping the promises I made to myself in January.
Affirmation of the day.
12*/12!
I made a goal at the beginning of this year to run a race every month, fully expecting to make it maybe to April. Today I ran number 12. I’m actually really proud of myself - this goal forced me to be more aware of my running, and inspired my new goal of 500 miles this year (I’m ~55 away after today).
I AM A RUNNER.
*I have to throw an asterisk next to this one in the record book - I registered to run the Jingle Bell Run that was held yesterday morning, but had to attend my grandmother’s funeral instead. So I put on my JBR shirt this afternoon and ran my fastest 3.1 to date, though it technically wasn’t a proper race.
