Happy Global Beatles Day (25 June)
Television itself was still a bit of a novelty in 1951, but color television? Futuristic. The audience at an hour-long inaugural color TV program by CBS watch the proceedings, June 25, 1951. The pictures were also broadcast to Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. via network relay.

No man knows till he has suffered from the night how sweet and how dear to his heart and eye the morning can be.
Dearly Beloved live in Glasgow, 25 June 2024
There's a silverfish in my parents' toilet. It crawls towards the wall when I enter the room and then up the wall. And not for the first time I marvel at the ability of some of insects to walk in defiance of gravity.
Then I think to myself - how do they know that they can do that? I mean, I've never even tried to do that. So how do they know that this is a possibility for them?
So I ask myself: why have I never tried to do that? I have never thought, for a second in my life, that I would be able to walk vertically up a wall or upside down on a ceiling.
And I think it is because I can feel that I can't. It's proprioception or gravity or whatnot, I don't know. But being in these bodies that we are in, even as a baby, I think, we can feel that walking up the wall is not a possibility for us.
And then, inevitably, I find myself thinking: so how does it feel for these insects to walk up a wall or on a ceiling? What kind of bodily experience does that entail? What does it feel like to know that it is even a possibility? What is it like to be a silverfish?
And that we will never know.
