HAPPY LATE HALLOWEEN!!! that aforementioned next time has arrived, and i sure as hell am a man of my word because MAN do i have the session for you now that i was free from the shackles of university homework!!! so yeah, you saw the post last time -- miserable and underwhelming, i barely even got any rhythm gaming in that whole day . but today, finally... i was done with my homework (asterisk) for today, i had all the free time (asterisk) in the world, and i was ready (asterisk) to make up for my rhythm gaming drought... by slightly upscoring BATTLE NO.1 (FTR-9+, MAX-26 -> MAX-19) for a highest score challenge!!! (which ended up being beaten shortly after wwww) on the same train ride back home, i also got a sick Full Recall on MVURBD [FTR-10] and slight PTT raise!!! ...though it came at the cost of missing my train stop and having to get back home via bus... (on which i even snuck in a bit of Rotaeno!!! wanted to do a cross-game MVURBD scorepost, but it was too hard and time-consuming to unlock at the time... wahhh)

once i was home, though, it was FINALLY time to catch up on some vivid/stasis gaming!!! MAN i've been itching to play this game for a while, and i finally had the time (asterisk) to dedicate myself to doing so without a care or worry in the world! so of course, we had to run through the motions and grind out some sick AACs (now called VS'es i guess???) on MD charts across Chapter 2 and collaborations (thanks to Soundscan)! (dw about the FULi AUTO BUSTER [OPN-6] score, that one's just 1.75x speed)

i also tried out the new signature gimmicky chart of one of the collaborations... Etiquette [FIN-13 & ENC-14]!!! MAN this is hard... my FCs weren't the best, and i'm still trying to find my way around the rhythm somehow, but it's insanely fun regardless (given my experience with listening to the song earlier, too!!) i'll come back hopefully for the world record soon, though it's gonna be a looooong grind...

June 30th, 2024 - Arcaea, vivid/stasis, Rotaeno

the grind continues, except with even more work ahead of me... ough... but we still got some really good stuff today, including... False Embellishment (FTR-9, MAX-16), Blaster (FTR-9, MAX-16), and Corruption (FTR-9+, MAX-14) as FTR PMs #135, #136, and #137!! (i've given up on counting the number of 9+ PMs i've gotten now that i have them in the double digits, but i believe this was 9+ PM #10? if so, then yippee!! double digit level 9+ PMs!!!)

notably this morning, i felt pressured by all the v/s scores my friends were sharing in our team chat and decided to go for some myself, soooo i played a some!!! tried the rechart of Pictured as Perfect (FINALE 13) and missed the V rank threshold by a single point, but i also got a MAX on both CITY RIDE IN THE JUNGLE (FINALE 12+) and Star Dream -Millenium Vision- (FINALE 9+)!!! come to think of it... should i start counting all my FINALE MAXes too? naw...

rotaeno jumpscare omg (really neat (up)score on fallin' fallin' (IV Lv.12)!!)

and to conclude: some not-quite-PMs-but-still-really-nice-scores from arcaea: Hiiro Gekka (FTR-10) and FREEF4LL (BYD-9+) EX+!!

woke up super early to catch the first full stream of my new awesome cool kami oshi vtuber (from holoEN justice) and passed the time during her stream by grinding out a few phigros phi's, including Bonus Time and ENERGY SYNERGY MATRIX! all i have to do for the legacy folder phi is to get PRAW, Pixel Rebelz, and Non-Melodic Ragez... all the 15s left over... (though PRAW shouldn't be too hard)

meanwhile, i also tried the all new awesome fortnite festival battle mode, and i kicked ASS!!! though i feel like i kicked too much ass, so now there's this profound emptiness within me lamenting the fact i'm "too good" at rhythm games for this...

let's jump over to Arcaea while we get through work!! didn't get much at all today, but i DID get a slight upscore on next to you (FTR-8+, MAX-28 -> MAX-14), as well as getting down Alice a la mode (FTR-9, MAX-17) and Dreamin' Attraction!! (FTR-9, MAX-28) as FTR PMs #108 and #109 respectively!!!

oh also, for the ominous Rotaeno in the title, that's because i was just doing my little challenge thingies this morning and got this sudden FC on Nee nee nee (MASTER 12) out of nowhere??? hell YEAH

June 19th, 2024 - Phigros, Arcaea, PIU 2024 PHOENIX, Rotaeno

read the news this morning that territory battle, in addition to being removed from its original performai games, would be removed from phigros as well in the coming update. looking to make the most of it before it's removed though, i tried to phi all its difficulties and got the HD down while half asleep, as well as giving the AT some attempts to see if i could somehow do it!! i couldn't do it consistently, but i did way better than i thought i would... hmm.... could i actually get this?

between and after those plays, i also grinded out some more PMs in arcaea to deplete my stamina and also get in some more progress in my Quest for Perfection . got FTR PMs #93 and #95 on Lights of Muse (FTR-8+, MAX-9) and MERLIN (FTR-8+, MAX-6) respectively, but obviously i had to do something special to commemorate my (FORMERLY) 100th FTR PM. so what did i do exactly? why, i PM'ED MEDUSA (FTR-10) ON THE SPOT!!!! MAX-36 PURE MEMORY, 10 PM #2, AND FTR PM #94 (formerly #100)!!!!!!

warmup was over after that, and it was time to go through with my day plans to meet a friend at the (other) arcade and play some pump!! a lot of pump!!! but since all i had played earlier were mobile rhythm games and i needed to warm up my legs first, i obviously started with som- naw jk LOL i went IMMEDIATELY for the 20s and claimed allll the clears i could get LMFAO (and after clearing these two in particular (86 S20 SS+ and Papasito S20 AA+), i got Advanced Lv.1 title!!! finally!!! no more intermediate bronze!!!!)

so with my brand new, shiny silver title in hand and a bunch more 20s to clear until i reached Advanced Lv.3 to take on 21s, i pushed on and got a bunch more even cooler S20/D20 clears!!! Stager D20 (funnie) AAA+, CHAOS AGAIN S20 AA+, Utopia S20 AAA+ (peak btw), Gargoyle D20 AA+ (i can do better dw), Blazing S20 AA+ (one of my old early S19s before it was moved up!), Kasou Shinja -Short Cut- S20 AAA+, and Ghroth D20 AAA to wrap up the session! (Level 20 rating: <13,000 -> 18,975, 7,025 (10-11 more 20 clears) away from Advanced Lv.2!)

really good session overall, buuuut it was back home after that to unwind and relax... but i also played some Rotaeno on the bus to make extra story progress and cleared Inverted World (IV Lv.13)!

a little more arcaea progress: Ascent (FTR-9+, MAX-22) as FTR PM #96, and a hard clear on World Ender (BYD-11) on my third try (coulda been my first...) as part of Axiom of the End!!!

ending it off with a bit more rotaeno: got an AP on Journey With You (IV Lv.11) and a really good sightread S+ on Rush E (IV Lv.12+)!!

June 18th, 2024 - Arcaea, Rotaeno, DDR WORLD

The Chronicles of PMs continues!!! Starting with Silent Rush (FTR-8, MAX-28) and Cosmica (FTR-8+, MAX-10) as FTR PMs #87 and #88 respectively, clearing out what I can of the Binary Enfold folder!!!!

following it up with this pretty cool Rotaeno sightread... very cool...

and then following THAT up with ANOTHER upscore on Singularity VVVIP, this time a 2-2 score!!! then also a very intentional 1-1 on Feels So Right for a challenge, and then my very first clear on PRAGMATISM -RESURRECTION- (BYD-11) as part of another challenge!!!

funny story, i actually got that PragRes clear on a bus with barely any audio! why was i on a bus, you ask? well, because i was heading to Round 1 to play me some DDR World!!! and i've got ALL the banger scores to show for it!!! warmed up with a very nice and cool set (lie) (it was all 15s+) (why did i do this to myself), and then immediately followed it up with the JUN SET JUN SET JUN SET FULL OF BANGERS (HAPPY ANGEL CSP-16, SILVER DREAM ESP-15, KIMONO PRINCESS ESP-15, and SUPER SAMURAI ESP-15), all AAA'd and Flare EX clears!!! (except HAPPY ANGEL for obvious reasons)

kept playing and gaming for a little while after that, getting a sick Flare IX clear on Eon Break ESP-16 and Lose Your Sense ESP-17 (which, really funny story: i tried doing the Akuma from Streets pose at the ending hold and ended up dropping the hold, but still keeping alive with the gauge . i thought it wouldn't hurt much, but turns out it was THAT HOLD SPECIFICALLY that prevented me from getting an AAA!!! why did i do that?!?!?! whyyy?!?!?!?!?)

after that though, my skill kinda started waning and i shifted from grinding singles to doubles, got a Flare VII clear on Yoidore Shirazu EDP-13, and then switched back to singles so i could play against a local friend to get a Flare EX on Nanahoshi ESP-15 and Flare VI on AETHER ESP-17!!!

realistically though, i couldn't really keep up with the game anymore and started feeling a little disappointed in my skill, so i packed it up and went home, stopping by boba on the way where i caught up on my rotaeno/arcaea stamina stuff :] (even got this sweet upscore on Swirling Blue while i was at it! AP soon?)

okay okay wait, i need to switch over to talking about arcaea quickly because this new score i got is INSANE. so i kinda really suck at beyond charts even at their lowest (level 9), which is why i was super surprised when i played Infinity Heaven (BYD-9) on the bus, barely any audio, and suddenly got... a PURE MEMORY??? MAX-34??? BYD PM #2???? LSDJFLSDJLFKDJESLKFJ

then of course, to cap off the day and use up all my Arcaea world mode stamina, a bunch of new PMs!!! Blocked Library (FTR-9, MAX-23), blue comet (FTR-8, MAX-2????), Prism (FTR-8, MAX-24), Eccentric Tale (FTR-8, MAX-19), and a slight +4 upscore on 1F√ (FTR-8, MAX-9) as FTR PMs #89, #90, #91, and #92 (barring 1F√ since i already had it) respectively!!!

and of course, to top it all off, i got a 970 on Tempestissimo BYD-11!!!! +0.01 PTT!!! woo yeah babey!!!

nothing too big today, just some rhythm gaming and sleeping before later going to work . but on the arcaea side of things, i got FTR PMs #85 and #86 on Party Vinyl (FTR-9, MAX-20) and Alice's Suitcase (FTR-9, MAX-15) respectively, as well as a slight and cool upscore on Red and Blue and Green (BYD-10)! 4.3 speed works really well for the chart...

aaaand on the rotaeno side of things, i mostly just played through the Pinocchio-P pack and got a few cool scores on really low speeds, including an EX on Nee nee nee (IV Lv.12) and... an FC on Non-breath oblige (IV Lv.12)!!! My first Lv.12 FC on Rotaeno!!!!

June 14th, 2024 - Rotaeno, DDR WORLD, Arcaea

finally caved in and got rotaeno dlc!!! yay!!! (though all i really did was AP K.Moe (III) as part of the event challenge thingy) (i genuinely don't know how to label the difficulties here . hard maybe?)

but that's not the focus at all, because i actually got this score from inside a bus!! a bus to where? why, to ROUND 1 BOWLING & AMUSEMENT to play DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION WOOOOORLDDDDDD !!!! ASFKJSLDJFLSDJFKLDSJFLK

AND SO I DID!!! Shoopa was there along with a bunch of other people really excited to play the game, so - ready to experiment and have fun with the gauges and stuff, i started GAMING!! LOOK AT ALL THESE COOL SCORES I LOVE THIS UPDATE SO MUCH (also obligatory LOVE IS ORANGE PFC)

side note: constant is AMAZING!!! ABSOLUTE GAME CHANGER IT MAKES ROPPONGI D FEEL EVEN BETTER TO PLAY THAN IT DID BEFORE I'M SO EXCITEDDDD

funny score break: I'm an Albatross one-foot challenge on shuffle!!! (thankfully all the jumps were bracketable so no big problem there)

after that, i started Blasting through a bunch of 12s, 13s, and 14s all with the intention of Flare EX clearing them, and so i did!!! woohoo!!! even got down my favorite song of the update: Hitomania!!! PFC soon...

easier chart time is over, got pushed and pressured by shoopa to clear EVEN HARDER CHARTS!!! AND SO I STILL DID!!!! GRAGHHHH I LOVE YOU LOVE EAST (FLARE EX CLEAR!!!) *AND* I LOVE YOU SHOCK ARROW CHANGES!!!)

so anyways i started GAMING with yuzu (mostly) who just arrived, and we chilled with a lot of really fun shock charts given all the shock arrow changes!!! GOD they feel so much easier to play now,,,

but then... suddenly... we played Scarlet Police as our last song of the set for fun when out of nowhere... i got a FULL COMBO??? A GREAT FULL COMBO??? A GFC??? ON THE CHALLENGE 18??? WHAH????? SCARLET POLICE (CSP-18) GREAT FULL COMBO AS 18 FC #1!!! AAAAAAAAAAA

last few scores before the end of the grind, but overall? EXTREMELY satisfying set and version i love it SO MUCH!!! i do agree some changes are needed to make everything pop out a little more, but the QOL changes are so insanely good that i believe they can turn this into one of the best DDR versions out there :]

also somewhat funny: played arcaea while waiting in the queue for some of these cabs to free up, when i suddenly got a Full Recall on Vicious Heroism (FTR-10)!!! yayayay!!! (ignore the horrible pragres score pls)

January 18th, 2024 - ProSeka, CHUNITHM PARALOST, Rotaeno, vivid/stasis

a little too much rhythm gaming today, but it's fine ! we'll brave through it, even if i have to write a bit more than usual...

starting off the morning, we have proseka scores showing two really good back to back upscores on sage mas!!! but i still keep missing and greating on the same spots... i also attempted the append again today and got another upscore on folern mas!

with my classes squared away and kinda feeling in the mood for it today, i also took the bus down to the arcade to play some more chunithm! and we were SO BACK with it muahahaaaaaaa,,, it was mostly just me really wanting to tap some notes and hit some air notes, but i managed to rack up some neat rating on really good acc runs that satisfied the chuni gods.

while i was at it, i also did one of the touhou maps to rack up some character material too, though i got stuck a lot on Paranoia as i wanted to get the max amount of steps with my marisa partner? attacks became misses with her, so i assumed the end goal was to get an AJ... but apparently that wasn't enough either??? so with an AJ anyways, i just switched to selene and got the quest done while also exploring some other charts after the fact. walked away with a calamity fortune SS, kamui S, and sound chimera S to reach 14.57 rating at the end of my sesh! will def take a lot more grinding to reach the top, though...

here's a random rotaeno score i got just checking the game out after the purple rave update. it's not an upscore by any means, but it was cool to see how the challenge mode worked

and finally, i had to do some grinding on my weakest song of the qualifiers, Quasar... haven't had the best luck with this song, but i was determined to be consistent on it to lighten the load of the qualifiers whenever i got to the 4th stage. got some decent score breakdowns, but my acc score still wasn't too great because misses and goods absolutely tank it. i tried and tried, but the best i could manage was 2 greats and some... Decent A-Crit acc.

phew, that wasn't as bad as i thought it'd be. buuut it might still be a lot to read. stay tuned for the arcade sesh tomorrow!
