i do think nurse shane tells security guard ilya, “you’re so strong, you’re so brave, i love you so much, i feel so safe with you” whenever ilya has a bad day like YES you are such a good protector and i see this and honor this in you and also i love you so much it is spilling out of my heart.
Yes yes yesss baby I love this!! When Ilya feels powerless or frustrated or just exhausted, over it. Shane is always reassuring his boy, cuddles and his face snuggled into Ilya’s neck, pressed close with his hand combing through his hair, rubbing his back.
“You’re doing what you can baby, it’s alright, you know you make so many people feel safer, including me, and I’m always here to keep you safe too yeah” Shane whispers and Ilya just smiles, they trade small kisses, noses nudging together. And Ilya gets sad thinking about what he can’t do, what he can’t be- what he can’t change and Shane reminds him of what he does, how he cares for Shane and the patients he helps, the staff he makes feel safer, helps Ilya feel more steady footed.
