~trials and tribulations turnabout beginnings spoilers~

why did no one tell me how downright disturbing turnabout beginnings is? the defendant is this huge, terrifying golem looking death row inmate chugging along a ginormous metal ball with him who escaped prison and has freakish babylike eyes and infantile speech patterns and he doesn’t seem to know what happened only that he’s not guilty but can’t elaborate any more than that. he is heavily implied to be mentally stunted with limited intelligence which dahlia took advantage and their relationship is horrifying from both sides because he was 20 and she was 14 and he called her his “teenage angel” and he is horrifyingly obsessed with her, and she both willfully and maliciously manipulated a mentally disabled man into doing anything she wanted including promising he would kill himself if he ever crossed her and giving him the exact means to do so and even sent him to jail for the purpose of cheating her father out of his money. it’s fucking uncomfortable because you feel disgusted toward terry at first for being an adult so love crazed over a pre teen, and then you’re disgusted at dahlia because she used his lack of mental ability to further her own agenda and had no qualms about putting him on the death row for a fake kidnapping. and at the end of the trial when he’s put in the witness stand he can’t even testify PROPERLY because she’s so adapt at playing with his feelings that he can do nothing but anything she asks of her, and his testimony is horrible and muddled and he’s burying his own grave and mia is trying so desperately to salvage the situation because it’s her first case and her own defendant is trying to get himself put back on death row and she’s fucking panicking because he’s spouting some bullshit about how he’ll die for her sake and then he actually starts bleeding out of his mouth and all he can say is that he no longer trusts himself as he actually bleeds out and collapses on his stand. dahlia’s control over him reigned until the very end and she walked away the only winner of the trial. mia is so traumatized she doesn’t take another case for the next year.

Another frustrating locker room situation, with us having to share with the team in the game before ours so the guys trying out for the junior team could leave their gear in the other locker room overnight.

I guess I can blame that for not feeling really mentally focused on the game, or maybe all the other stuff going on this week that's been messing with my sleep schedule and everything too.

Seeing the team we were playing against I was not expecting that great of a game, they had three of the top four offensive guys from my team last season as well as two other good scoring players for our league. And not surprisingly they came out strong and made some good chances, but I still was frustrated and felt I should have stopped both goals scored in the first period, and the third early in the second.

But after that I started playing better and my team did better than I had expecting in the other end and we got one back in the second and then worked two more back through the third period for a 3-3 tie about half way through the third.

Unfortunately a few minutes after tying it up they let one of the guys I played with play season get a breakaway. His speed is his best weapon so that wasn't that surprising. I had stopped him a few times already but this time his shot got under my arm just a bit faster than I squeezed my arm to my side and they took a lead.

A few minutes later I went to the bench and the team made a number of really great chances to tie the game but somehow weren't able to get it past their goalie and time ran out with the score still 3-4.

It was a fun game and closer than I expected, though that made my own personal poor start even more frustrating since we actually had a strong chance to win if I'd played better.

Oh well, at least we're still in a playoff position (all teams make the playoffs).

I love the season 1 archive team (specifically Tim Stoker love you king), and this is so in character for a (much much happier) Tim. Adore, adore, adore him!! I am also a huge fan of polycule archive assistants so this tickles that bone too, haha.

Very fun read! If you like rascal Timothy Stoker and flustered Martin, definitely give this one a try.

Resident Evil 4 - 3-4:

“Well, seems like Ashley is getting a chapter all for herself...yey... To be honest, this is a very creative level. Ashley can barely defend herself, so she has to pretty “attack and run”, or she’s fucked. Too bad they decided to include one of my least favorite type of puzzles... (gif 4).

ok. but prosecutor iris au.

after she gets out of prison she wants to do penance for her crimes.  but something thats actually proactive instead of staying at hazakura temple.

she also wants to disassociate with the fey clan/her sister’s crimes so she changes her last name (idk if her last name is fey or hawthorne but either way she doesn’t want it anymore)

for the sake of this au let’s say she changes her last name to nova because that has a nice ring to it

so iris decides she wants to help put criminals in jail. she gets a small apartment and studies to be prosecutor, and eventually passes the bar and is assigned to the la prosecutor’s office

the thing is, she and phoenix have been out of touch for a while- he visited her regularly until the disbarment and then everything in his life was so fucked up he didn’t want to add prison visits to someone who he has a painful past with. iris didn’t really know what was going on in the outside world but she had already figured phoenix would eventually stop visiting her so she’s not surprised 

so iris doesn’t know that edgeworth is the chief prosecutor. she doesn’t even know he’s a prosecutor- she thinks he’s a defense attorney because he defended her during her case. and edgeworth sees that the newest addition to the office is “prosecutor iris nova” and he doesn’t make a connection to the nun he defended like 8+ years ago

at her first day of work, iris stops by the chief prosecutor’s office (idk because that’s what you’re supposed to do??) and edgeworth is going over a case with some of his subordinates (klavier, simon, sebastian, maybe nahyuta, idk I haven't played aa6 yet) but he lets her in

they’re just so shocked to see each other they’re just like “??? you??” and everyone else is like “what is happening”

iris goes “I thought you were a defense attorney” and klav/seb/simon are like “what???”

and edgeworth, who really can’t afford ppl to know about the less than legal stuff he did before he was chief is like “she must be confused” while projecting “no stop shut it down” to iris who gets the message

that night he goes home to phoenix and says “your murderous ex girlfriend is a prosecutor now” and phoenix responds “technically iris didn’t murder anyone-- wait WHAT?!?”

working together is weird for iris and edgeworth but they end up getting along really well, so much so that they become closer than iris is to phoenix, though her working in the legal field does start a friendship between the two of them

(edgeworth gives phoenix a heads up on what cases iris has taken so if he picks up a client that she’s prosecuting, he can make apollo or athena defend them because going against his ex in court is just a bit too much for him)

bonus

simon and iris knew each other in prison and were pals until simon got taken away (she was very kind to him and he protected her and maybe this doesn’t make any sense because I haven't played aa5 but just roll with it okay)

iris believed simon’s death sentence had been carried out until she saw him very much alive in edgeworth’s office and was very confused but relieved

simon, for his part, doesn’t realize that everyone he knew in prison must’ve thought him to be dead by then, so he has a moment of “oh shit I have to make some calls”
