You were going to kill Joseph Joestar.
The journey to Egypt had already been long and arduous enough. The last thing you needed was this slip-up, all because the older man had overlooked some things when booking the rooms.
Jotaro sighed as he sat down on the bed, grip tightening on his hat. He muttered something to himself that you couldn’t quite hear, the mattress dipping under his weight. You did your best to qualm your own worries as you met him at the edge of the bed.
“Hey, it’s fine, really. I don’t mind taking the floor so you can get some proper rest.” You didn’t want to elaborate on how you were already flustered enough having to share a room with the boy, let alone the thought of you two sharing a bed.
Despite this, Jotaro’s rejection of the offer was nearly instantaneous. “Don’t be stupid. Just get on the damn bed.” His tone was rough as he watched you expectantly, almost as if he was calculating your every move.
You huffed, avoiding eye contact as you slipped into bed beside him. You couldn’t even come up with some sort of clever retort to his insult right now, instead deciding to turn your gaze to the balcony window as you picked at your nails.
A million things raced through your mind as the bed shifted again, presumably due to Jotaro moving to lie down next to you. You did your best not to think about the heat radiating from his body from where you were sitting against the headboard.
“Hey.”
His voice pierced through your thoughts, causing you to perk up. He simply stared. You murmured a noncommittal, ‘hm?’, your gaze owlish as you looked down at him.
Silence settled back in between you two as he seemed to take you in. You almost began to feel self-conscious as his eyes bore into yours. His throat bobbed as he swallowed thickly, finally deciding to speak.
“Just... come closer.” You could see the way his stoic demeanor faltered for a moment as your eyes widened, flushing. Who were you to deny him? You scooted just an inch closer before lying down, hand propping up your head as you faced him. A soft smile graced your features as he admired you.
You would be lying if you said you didn’t feel anything for the boy. After all, your relationship wasn’t platonic by any means. Labels didn’t seem to be a thing with Jotaro, or so you assumed. As it stood, you quite liked the simplicity of the boy trying to be subtle in how he always checked up on you, or how his hand always found its way to the small of your back as you walked along the crowded pavement.
Jotaro’s hand moved towards yours, seemingly a subconscious action.
“You’re really annoying, you know that?” He muttered, intertwining his fingers with yours. You let out a soft chuckle—both at the irony of the situation and his difficulty with communicating how he felt.
“I know. Yet, you still put up with me. What does that say about you?” Your tone was teasing, even as your heart raced due to the feeling of your hand in his.
He gave you a slight smirk. “Says that I make bad decisions," he snarked, tugging your hand as a silent request for you to come closer.
Wordlessly, you moved to lie your head on his chest. "You say that, yet you made sure I slept here in bed instead of on the floor. Was that another poor decision by the infamous Jotaro Kujo?" He huffed indignantly in response, yet his scowl disappeared as you giggled. He wrapped his arm around your waist, effortlessly pulling you closer to him as he closed his eyes, relaxing ever so slightly.
"Tch, shut up... your teasing irritates me," he muttered, opening his eyes to admire you once again. You felt your face warm as he stared, reaching up to card a hand through his hair. You hummed as he all but melted into your touch.
You had to resist the urge to press a kiss to his forehead, instead opting to lean yours against it. Your eyes closed. "Please. We both know you wouldn't have it any other way." His arm around your waist tightened ever so slightly.
"... You're such an annoying woman," was all he could seem to muster up as a comeback. You laughed quietly, relishing the closeness between the two of you.
You really did cherish these moments you both shared. Hushed conversations on hotel balconies, lightly scolding the other if one of you sustained too many injuries in a fight with an enemy stand user, the looks you would shoot each other from across the table when Polnareff or Joseph said something especially out-of-pocket. You loved it all.
Jotaro was silent for a long while, heart racing under your touch. The hand resting on your waist moved to cup your face, his thumb ghosting over your bottom lip.
You looked up at him through your lashes, despite your gaze flickering down to his lips. You did your best to keep your heart rate under control as your eyes finally met his again.
Another beat of silence passed. Your lips parted, disrupting the quiet.
"Are you just going to stare, Jojo?"
Your tone was soft, nearly breathless, but it didn't falter. It was more vulnerable than either of you were used to.
"Shut up."
His tone wasn't snarky as usual—rather, it was desperate. He didn't wait any longer before capturing your lips in a kiss, hand moving to the nape of your neck. You cupped his cheek, heart pounding against your ribcage. It was soft, fleeting, before you both pulled away with pupils blown wide and faces flushed.
You hadn't kissed each other up until this point, not even a short peck on the cheek. You did your best to fight off the smile that broke across your face. Jotaro simply stared at you, drinking you in. He moved to cradle your face in his hand once again, letting out a shaky exhale.
"God... you look too damn pretty right now." The words were barely above a whisper as he stroked your cheek with his thumb.
Naturally, you leaned into his touch. "I really like you, Jojo." You bit the inside of your cheek at your own confession. "And... I want you to know that I'm serious— not just about what I said. But about us." Your eyes shifted away for a moment, face burning.
That same silence filled the room again. It was natural when you were with him, but in this moment, it felt suffocating.
"Good grief. Just tell me you love me."
You all but lunged into kissing him to wipe the smirk off of his face.
