Yaz's hands can remain up no longer, and her arms fall, Sammy's hand still in her fingers....
Charles Vane | Proper Pirate - A (Part 2) Black Sails Musical Parallels | XXXII. XXXIII. XXXIV. XXXVIII.
music breakdown note: The music in this parallel is made up of parts A and B. Parts C and D are each a different extension of part A. E is a tease of A (only the first two notes of part A)
All the scenes in this group have A. XXXIV also includes D, and XXXVIII also includes E.
music variation note: The music in the scene in XXXII is played on a woodwind (or similar). All three scenes in XXXIII and the scene in XXXVIII are on strings. The scene in XXXIV is on hurdy gurdy. The second scene in XXXIII is missing the first note of the theme. The third scene in XXXIII has a different harmony over the third note of the theme.
Part 1 | Part 2
AB | A | B | C | D | E
I spent a year rewatching Black Sails and tracking all the bits of music that repeated at any point during the show, and my findings are reinforcing that Bear McCreary is a genius and this show should have been called 'parallels that will kill you over and over again'* (tag | chronological)
kuroda....... ur not gonna die PLEASE act normally 😭
An enamoured review of ♡ by Jane Remover
via rateyourmusic
Better than Revengeseekerz. If we got a full album of this, it'd easily be my album of the year. I really hope Jane leans more into this style in the future, because the dancey stylings in this while still being much calmer than something like Revengeseekerz stand out to me in such an incredible way.
She takes from some really unexpected spots! I remember the second I heard How To Teleport I texted one of my friends about how Jane had officially become an honorary latina. She clearly knows her shit, because I don't think someone who didn't do their research would be drawing from stuff like Elysia Crampton and other cumbiatón influences.
There are few things that I love more than being able to tell that someone is as much of a nerd about music as I am just by listening to a composition, and Jane very consistently has proven that through all of her work, but this feels like an absolutely shining example of it more than anything else.

Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie
Summary: Matt Johnson (himself) and Jay McCarrol (himself) have spent the last seventeen years trying to get a gig at The Rivoli, and go to extreme lengths in continued attempts to do so.
Gripping and absolutely hysterical genre-blending mockumentary long in the making that is accessible to newcomers of lore. Go in blind.
