I love when you tell people you are on a host of medications for your Crohn’s disease and someone says, “You need a non-drug approach. My son, Tommy, has terrible stomach issues. We keep him off gluten, dairy, red dye 666, and away from all pet iguanas. He is doing amazing now!” Damnit Deborah, shut up! You think I haven’t tried taking different things away?! I prefer science to something you read in your ‘Free-Range Childrearing’ group on Facebook...

Kind of an Update

I finally heard back from GI regarding my medication and the fact that I am literally unable to take it due to the large size of the pill and he said what I thought he would. He was explaining that since I am seeing him in a few weeks that we can discuss what other treatment options are still on the table for me. I am still taking my Mercaptopurine as I know that is what helps to keep my disease in check, but I know he wants another medication in conjunction with the 6mp to help keep the inflammation at bay. I hate not knowing what is coming for me and what direction my treatment is going to take, but I know I have to wait patiently so that we can figure out what the next step is together.

I have had quite the relationship with Delzicol whether I go through the times to where my body just is not having it and then the other times where my body doesn’t mind it at all. I have been off of it before a few years ago for about six months, so I know that me being taken off of it for the time being is not completely out of the ordinary for me. The notion I am getting from my gastroenterologist is that the other options for me are a bit stronger and I am getting the feeling they are more involved. I wonder if he thinking of a biologic, but I don’t want to jump to conclusions just yet. He wants to check my levels to see what the inflammatory markers are so that can assess them and then determine where to go from there. I am relieved that I got a correspondence back from him because I was going to shoot him a follow-up e-mail regarding the status of what he wanted me to do next because I was in limbo there for a bit. I know I am kind of still in limbo because I am relying on my 6mp to keep things in check until my next appointment with my GI. I am thankful that my 6mp is not causing me issues and that I have been able to tolerate it all these years. I hope everyone has been feeling okay and I am one message away in case anyone needs to talk whether it be disease related or not.

Fatigued, tired, worn out and done in..

The uninvited fatigue 💤 has dropped in today, still managed a yoga session but boy do I feel off. Is it the increase in Mercaptapurine or the taper off the Pred? Either way it can kindly do one! Sending positive vibes, push on all the weekend is nigh 🕺

haven’t really wanted to even address it but my doctor told me last week I have to go back on prednisone. so I’m back to 20mg and 75mg of the 6mp and it’s like the past year never even happened!! 

idk trying to stay positive and upbeat but I’m already feeling the side effects lately and I forgot how crazed I felt and now I don’t even have my ex boyfriend around to help me through this. honestly, 2017 just SUCKS so far.
