I cannot get over this Buck/Chris still

Like, look at Chris’ face.

This might just me, but not only does Chris look like he’s about to cry but he also looks so...stoic. Maybe even mad.

And now I’m sitting here thinking that either:

A) Eddie told Chris about Buck’s coma and he’s shown to be calm and almost detached for a good chunk of the episode until he goes to see Buck for himself and he tries to stay strong for Buck (and lowkey Eddie) but ultimately breaks down when he asks him to wake up.

OR

B) Eddie brings Chris to go see Buck and just when they make it to Buck’s room, they overhear Maddie arguing with the Buckleys over them not bothering to go in and see their son and then they start spewing their woe-is-me bullshit excuses and they don’t notice they’re being overheard until Eddie makes their presence known by addressing only Maddie.

The Buckleys remember Eddie and even try introducing themselves formally to Christopher only for the latter to put them on the spot over why they won’t see Buck, much to everyone’s shock. They try to give him some BS kid-gloved excuse and Chris just completely shuts them down, going as far as to completely walk past them to get to Buck (but not before giving his aunt Maddie a hug).

So when he gets inside, he goes to Buck and tells him that he and Eddie aren’t going anywhere so he doesn’t have to worry about being alone. (And then the whole fandom cries.)

(I know, I’m a Buckley-Diaz clown. But I’m a traumatized Buckley-Diaz clown, so let me have this!)

whatever you do, don’t think about eddie going to shannon’s grave to ask her about how to deal with buck.

and then eventually for her permission for buck to become his actual second parent legally. don’t imagine him going, “the way buck treats christopher makes me want to give him the universe because he gives the whole galaxy to chris. you can see it in his eyes when he sees the kid, the way they light up. he basically fought a tsunami for him and he’d do it again. i hope i have your blessing to make him chris’s second dad. i bet you’d adore the way those two cooked together; and also how that in turn makes them bully me about my own cooking.”

DON’T. do not picture any sort of conversation like that at all. for your well being and mental state.

Think of how good and heartfelt and honest a confession from Eddie would be this season.

In 2x01, Eddie is calm and collected. Despite nearly dying, he plays down the traumatic experience him and Buck just shared with a handshake and “You can have my back anyway,” a casual line we don’t understand the importance of until we learn more about Shannon.

In 3x03, Eddie has to make jokes and insult Buck before he can drop “There’s nobody in this world I trust more with my son than you.” He then turns, walking away before he stops to say his final line, “Thank you. For not giving up.” Cut to 3x09, where Eddie argues with Buck over his apology, claiming that everything’s fine. He’s still not being totally honest with Buck about his feelings, even when Buck outright asks him. (“If you’re not gonna be honest with Frank, at least be honest with me.”) 

In 4x14, Eddie once again opens with humor but doesn’t rely on it, quickly becoming serious. He’s honest with Buck; however, throughout “I know you wouldn’t” and “But no one will ever fight for my son as hard as you” and “You act like you’re expendable, but you’re wrong,” he’s looking away or down. He’s still unable to be totally vulnerable with Buck about his feelings while making eye contact.

In 5x13, Eddie is in therapy and is finally honest about his fears with Buck: “I’m afraid . . . that I’m never gonna feel normal again,” he says, looking Buck right in the eye.

If Eddie confesses his love to Buck in 6b, he won’t have to hide his feelings through teasing. He won’t have to lie about them or tuck them away in a box. He won’t even have to look away or wait until he’s walking out through the doorway to say his truth. He could just tell Buck he loves him.

Ok but what if in In Another Life, Buck is with his parents, he’s having a good time, they go along really well and suddenly the news are on and he’s probably still in Hershey and it’s like a major news agency going

“LAFD firefighter hit by a sniper in broad daylight while off duty died today”

(or something)

And Buck is looking at the news and he’s like “no. No. No, I saved him. I saved Eddie.”

And everyone around him is confused, because “who the hell is Eddie?”, and Buck is also confused, because “Eddie is… Eddie is…” and that’s how he wakes up, with Eddie’s name on his lips and their hands holding each other and that’s how Buck figures out what Eddie really means to him.

Anyway we know Bobby is still wrecked from losing Wendell. As he should be. And he's going to jump straight into investigating his death, and he's probably going to a little intense with it. Right? I mean, this is digging up a lot of his past, a lot of buried feelings. All I'm saying is. After the lightning, Bobby breaks down. Like, full-on sobbing, close to relapsing, needs someone to keep an eye on him breakdown. Because Buck is in a coma, and as much as he doesn't want to admit it, buck is like his kid. And he almost lost him. And that's going to kill him.

I'm just picturing it. In Buck's hospital room, begging him to wake up. Athena tells him maybe they should leave, let one of the other 118 crew see him, and Bobby can't. He can't let him leave, not until he wakes up. He tells her he should've seen it coming, he never should've sent Buck up that ladder. He should have known better than to send Buck up on a ladder during a lightning storm, he lived in the midwest long enough that even if LA doesn't have storms a lot, he knows what happens during them. He tells her he was so focused on Wendell, on getting justice for him, his judgement must've been clouded somehow. And he just...god, he's so pissed, because his poor judgement has once again hurt his family.

Okay so I have not yet watched the new 9-1-1 episode so obviously SPOILERS but you better believe I’m looking at all the spoilers because I literally cannot survive without them but I’ve also seen a lot of posts about how the Buckley parents either won’t visit Buck in the hospital, or they will and they’ll get called out by Eddie for being horrible parents

BUT

I HAVE THOUGHT OF SOMETHING MUCH WORSE AND IDK IF ANYONE ELSE HAS YET BUT IF NOT HERE YOU GO

The Buckley parents do end up visiting Buck in the hospital right? They find out he’s been struck by lightning and doesn’t have a very good chance at surviving because of it. Yes, they’ve been told the next 24hrs are crucial. Yes they’ve been told he’s in a medically induced coma. Yes they’ve been told that it’s now up to him to fight to live. But- they don’t see it that way. They already think of Buck as nothing but spare parts, so why not get some use out of him again by PULLING THE PLUG AND DONATING HIS ORGANS. Because I would not put it past Margaret and Philip to at least bring up the fact that “oh well, he’s gonna die anyway, might as well..” ya know? I don’t think it was ever established who would be Buck’s medical proxy should anything life threatening like that ever happen. Sure, Buck’s been in the hospital before, the fire truck crushing his leg, the tsunami, etc, but he’s never been in a medically induced coma before. And if Buck never changed any of his next of kin, medical care stuff, then by default his parents would be the ones calling the shots. And yeah, pulling the plug is definitely something those two would do- especially Margaret.

As much as I would love it to parallel Eddie changing his Will to make Buck Chris’s legal guardian, by Buck making Eddie his medical proxy, let’s all admit that if he were to have changed his next of kin stuff, he would’ve made Maddie his proxy. Because he loves his sister, and he trusts her to make the right decisions, especially when it comes to him and his health because we all know how self destructive Buck can be. Making Maddie in charge puts pressure on her. Of course it would. Why wouldn’t it? That’s her brother after all. The Buckley parents have always been shady and untrustworthy, so trying to pull rank over Maddie and trying to pull the plug on Buck would be how they can finally be rid of the reminder that Daniel didn’t survive and go from there.

Yes of course the 118 would quickly dismiss them. Of course they’d fight for Buck. Buck is family. He’s like a son to Bobby, an annoying little brother to Chim and Hen, and Eddie’s partner/best friend/pseudo parent/legal guardian to Chris. I didn’t mean for this to get long but I literally just thought of it after seeing all the spoilers and was like I h a v e to tell them. So until next week when I can survive off of spoilers again I will be chewing glass, kicking my feet, having multiple heart attacks a day thinking of Eddie finally screaming for Buck instead of vice versa, and giggling like a gremlin unprompted at the most inopportune of times.
