In a wide-ranging interview, Raisani also gave an update about the location where the planned third “9-1-1” series will be set. He confirmed that Hawaii — where the network’s new hit “Rescue: HI-Surf” is based — is likely out. So are Seattle and Chicago.

“We wanted to find a city that also wasn’t so well known by other TV franchises. With Seattle, you’re looking at the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ universe, and with Chicago, you’ve got the Dick Wolf universe,” he explained. “So we did a lot of strategizing about a city that hopefully is exciting in concept, but not so well known by many other TV shows and franchises. I think that the veil will come off of that pretty soon."

rotating “tommy in the spinoff” in my mind rotisserie … he’s going to be the judd. experienced character often posited as older and wiser but with a lot going on under the surface that he slowly lets the others see, has a leadership role without being the captain/anchor, still gets a significant amount of focus if the show operates out of lone star’s tiered main cast playbook. in a foil sense, judd is one of the characters more significantly tied to lone star’s texas setting while tommy will be a newcomer to whatever locale the spinoff is set in. and instead of judd mourning the family that he lost and building a new one, tommy’s mourning the family he never had and building one for the first time

also he will have a baby if it manages to last past the first couple seasons (that one’s mostly just for me)
