Summary:

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian make out in a room full of Sect Leaders, Jiang Cheng tearfully declares his love for his estranged brother, Sect Leaders Yao and Ouyang beg for the Yiling Patriarch’s forgiveness, and Lan Qiren openly welcomes a new nephew-in-law into his family.

None of them want to be doing any of this. Thanks to the Juniors, they don’t exactly have a choice.

(Or, wherein the Juniors accidentally write a cursed fanfiction, and everyone has to reenact their parts in it, or potentially cease to exist).

“Mn. Wei Ying is my love. Wei Ying is my everything.” Silence. “Hanguang-Jun, you don’t really have to say that,” Jingyi said hurriedly. “Just, uh — Sizhui?” “He needs to say it,” Sizhui said, sounding miserable.

“Of course they’re annoying,” Jiang Cheng snapped. “I find them annoying, a lot of people find them annoying, but we don’t end up going and writing stories about them!”

“Zizhen!” Sect Leader Ouyang roared. “I didn’t write that!” Ouyang Zizhen protested. “Then who did?!” Jin Ling shot back. “You definitely wrote it!”

“Wei Wuxian,” he said, the words sounding like a death threat. “Brother, I am sorry. I have missed you. Forgive this Didi of yours, who only wants to be held in the arms of his brother once more.” The room was dead silent, as everyone waited for Jiang Cheng to attempt to kill Wei Wuxian. Instead, he reared back, and slapped himself across the cheek, close to his eye. A tear ran down his cheek.

“I — no.” “Uncle, you must,” Lan Xichen murmured, regretfully. “Xichen, no!” “Uncle — “ “They are both disowned!” He roared, pointing furiously at Jingyi and Sizhui. The Juniors stared back miserably.

“Wei Wuxian!” Sect Leader Ouyang roared. “How despicable are you?! We each have to play our part in fixing the mess that these foolish children have started! I have suffered my part, and now you must do the same.” “Father, you spoke one line,” Ouyang Zizhen pointed out. “Zizhen!”

My comments:  omg, the second-hand embarrassment you feel for these poor kids as they're forced to read out loud their lemon-y fanfic in front of EVERYONE so that everyone can enact their roles and NOT DIE....

Excerpt 1:

“Oh Lan Zhan, my heart can't take it,” Wei Wuxian cried, swooning into Lan Wangji’s arms.” [Jingyi reads aloud.]

“Just what kind of story were you writing?” Jiang Cheng demanded.

“We were frustrated, Uncle!” Jin Ling said, his cheeks red. “They’re so annoying!”

“Of course they’re annoying,” Jiang Cheng snapped. “I find them annoying, a lot of people find them annoying, but we don’t end up going and writing stories about them!”

Excerpt 2:

“Wei Wuxian was busy being lost in Lan Wangji’s smouldering eyes. “Lan Zhan,” he said, “why did you never tell me you loved me?”

“Because I am so oblivious and bad at this,” Hanguang-Jun said, sounding apologetic.

“Oh Lan Zhan, so am I!”

“Wei Wuxian and Hanguang-Jun stared lovingly at each other for a moment, their arms wrapped around each other, their bodies pressed close.”

There was a very awkward silence.

“…Jin Ling wrote Hanguang-Jun’s line,” Jingyi said, very pointedly not looking in Lan Wangji’s direction.

“It was a good line!” Jin Ling yelled back, furious. “You wrote that stupid line about his smouldering eyes!”

“I did not, that was Sizhui’s idea!”

“Hey!”

Things I didn’t catch at first:

“A woman obsessed by scruples of quite a different kind” What does he mean oooh shoot

The fact that someone underlined the part about impotent men really being secretly powerful and somehow afraid of it? That’s the kind of thing you mention in a book to broadcast to your reader what kind of guy this is. “He liked to read books of psychology, underlining bits about true overwhelming potency of the impotent man.”

Just how creepy that line is about sending women into the hands of a Freudian colleague...just...no. No.

(scattered applause as curtain opens to reveal a stage with nothing but a tall white wall and a wiry college student dressed in a black mod dress with thick circle glasses and black wig cut in bob haircut. The applause fades as the student begins to set the scene.)

 Student: I will be doing a reenactment of the “No Capes” scene in the Incredibles.

 (he starts to move away from the center, pauses as looks back to crowd.)

 Student: I will be playing Edna Mode

 (takes a breath)

 Edna: Do you remember Thunderhead?”

 (the image of a superhero appears on the wall behind her.)

 Edna: November 15 of ’58. All was well, another day saved, when his cape snagged on a missile fin.

 (another image flashes up on wall with the name. the sound of a projector can be heard with each image flipped up onto the screen)

 Edna: Stratogale. April 23, ’57. Cape caught in a jet turbine.

 (the projectors clicks come rapidly now,  sounding like the seconds ticking away each moment those pictured are not among the living.)

 Edna: Meta man, express elevator. Dynaguy, snag on takeoff. Splashdown, sucked into a vortex.

 (she is breathing more heavily as all images of the superheroes striking proud poses in their capes are displayed on the back wall. Edna turns to look at the wall of photos. Weakly her voice comes out.)

 Edna: No.

 (her voice breaks)

 Edna: capes.

 (her hand reaches out as if to touch them, to warn them, then clenches into a fist as she turns away, holding her hand to her heart. The stage goes black as her shoulders start to shake.)

Man. I don’t want to be the person who harps on my weight and changes in life. But I’m taking a moment to say that I truly have had a hard time noticing any difference in how I look since I’ve started losing weight. It’s been almost 50 pounds so far and I’ve legit like ¯\ _(ツ)_/¯ its all the same to me. But I was going through Facebook and saw these old ass pics of me from four years ago and was shocked. This was at my heaviest (and most depressed ayoooo) where I was probably pushing 280-290. It’s weird seeing myself from then. How I didn’t care about myself at all, from looks down to fashion and makeup and myself and my brain. All of it. Truly a low point. And I decided to put it up against a couple of pics from the last couple weeks and I’m like ... weirded out by it as hell. I don’t look like her. I don’t feel like her. Current Kristian is 215 pounds, and goes outside all the time, and cares about her appearance and spends a dedicated amount of time to trying to better certain aspects of herself (current project is my hair). She writes in a journal. She takes pictures. She’s a really good artist. She dances to oldies music at 11pm while eating really hot green beans and she goes out with friends and makes people laugh. She wants to take swing dancing lessons (and luckily has a friend who wants to take it with her). She’s finding herself mentally and figuring out what’s wrong with her and what makes her tick and what makes her sad. She has friends all over the place who love her a lot. She loves her. Or is trying to. It’s just weird. I feel really sad when I see these old pictures of myself because I wish I could like... communicate with myself and tell myself that it’s gonna be fine. I feel sad because I remember how much I hated that Kristian and I’m sad because I can hardly fathom the self-loathing I had at that point in my life anymore. But that’s all gone. And if she tries to come back then I know how to cope. And that’s fine. I’m in my feels right now y’all I apologize. BYE I’m so sleepy.
