(A lil think about Vincent and Johnny, You Regret Me AU)
(TWs: mentions of Vincent’s asshole ex, drugs, past abusive relationships!! Be safe and don’t read if you don’t want too, just thinking about Johnny and Vince today)
People often forgot that Johnny and Vincent were together. They weren’t as affectionate as Kerry was with them, and most believed Johnny didn’t actually like Vincent, and only dated him because of Kerry. He was only there because Vincent just happened to be there. But that wasn’t the case at all.
Johnny was Vincent’s protector, just as he was Kerry’s. Vincent was a siren song, that Johnny couldn’t stay away from. He had become a part of them, he made their hearts bigger to accept Vincent into them.
People often called Vincent just another groupie that got lucky, despite Vincent being a rather talented bass player and not a groupie. Far from it.
Johnny had failed to protect Vincent only once, and never again. Vincent never left his sight after, too scared that next time Johnny would be too late. That’s how they ended up where they were, on the floor of Vincent’s manager’s bedroom, Johnny talking to him while hiding him in his jacket.
“Trauma teams on their way.” Henry stated, blocking Vincent’s view from what was going down in the living room. Rogue beating the shit out of the corpo asshole.
“Hey… focus on me. You’re safe now.” Johnny promised his Nova, making the artist look up at him in a daze. “Safe…” he repeated over and over until the Trauma Team got there and took Vincent away, Henry going with him instead so Johnny could pack his shit and find his bass.
He had two hours. He told Vincent he’d be with him again in two hours, and he’d keep that promise. Because Vincent hadn’t been thrilled to find out Johnny wasn’t going with him. He needed to make sure he got everything though, he’d deal with the asshole later. Vincent was more important.
As promised, Johnny was at the hospital just in time. Kerry was already there and probably panicked out of his mind. He found them in Vincent’s room, Vincent fighting the hell out of his sleep medication and Kerry’s warm hands massaging his head.
“Just in time, he’s refused to go to sleep until he saw you.” Kerry looked like he had just been through hell, which to be fair, they all had been. Vincent had been MIA for three days and it was by a complete accident that Johnny found him when he did.
“Sleep, Nova. He’s here now.” Kerry whispered, Johnny taking the seat next to them. He watched Vincent try to fight it a bit longer before he fell asleep, hand out reached for Johnny.
