Occasionally i like to indulge in mcu spidey fics, and a baffling pattern I've noticed is... I swear half these authors made up their own version of Flash, bc the ones i see in these fics is very clearly not the one in the movies lol

#txt post #flash is a needy jerk with neglectful parents in the movies #he's not the one who beats peter up or physically harms him #and even he has boundaries he doesn't cross #but the flash i see in these fics are - half the time - beating the shit out of him while humiliating him in every way possible #flash is just an annoyance in the movies. literally no one takes his shit seriously and even teachers barely tolerate him #plus like. he got snapped. and his parents didn't even *pick him up from the airport*#the kid disappeared for 5 years. came back to life. and his life barely changed.#his parents are so neglectful that he probably wondered if they'd even care if he ever vanished #and then he got proven right. bc they clearly didn't care after he came back #he even felt bad when the main trio didn't get into MIT with him #flash is at best desperate and at worst kinda pathetic and just really wants attention bc his home life sucks so he takes it out on peter #likely bc peter is smarter than him. but also bc peter doesn't even have his birth parents but he was still loved by his aunt and uncle #like peter isn't rich and got into a good school and is smart and still loved #that combo must have stung particularly bad #anyway. im not even the biggest flasy fan but i find it a disservice to his character when folks ignore his canon #just to add their whump or angst or to have peter or even the avengers get revenge on flash #as if he isn't just a sad and neglected kid going through shit too and lashing out in unhealthy ways bc of it #plus he does actually improve through the series. so #idk man if you want a bully character just make an OC #mcu flash doesn't deserve the kind of treatment authors give him as an easy scapegoat to live their revenge fantasies through lol #anyway i just had a lot of thoughts after binging some fics #i especially find it distasteful for the avengers to gang up on him bc like. he's a kid like peter and they're grown ass adults #that's just fucked up man #a nyway #mcu #kinda #spider man
