The last couple years, my shifting journey has sort of been on a pause. Not in the way of “Ugh, it’s never going to happen,” but more in the “I’m tired,” way. I’d been trying consistently for so long with minimal success, and had begun doubting myself.
I’ve been letting my doubts engulf me. It’s felt like I’m slowly sinking through a never ending darkness. Unfortunately, I have found comfort in there, in that void, and I make no effort to try to swim back up. Even with small moments of hope — minishifting, channeling, etc — it’s never enough to kick some action into me.
Recently, however, I rediscovered meditation. I was extremely good with it back in 2021-ish, but as I began working I lost that skill. Any time I had tried to meditate back then, I would just fall asleep; I was so mentally and physically exhausted. I truly think that that moment was the start of my shifting pause.
With my rediscovery, came the light in the darkness. I feel like I might be coming back… slowly. I will swim back up and keep fighting for my desires. Shifting is effortless, and I will shift soon.

Steven Universe
She’s herself, really. Considering this DR is where she originated, not a lot about her is different. She’s her usual bird-mom self with a big heart and a strong sense of her own strength. Her and I have a strong relationship despite her and Rose’s/Pink’s dynamic. At one point I thought our romantic relationship started after Steven was born, but at this point in time I actually think it started before then. Not really sure if it was during the Gem War or if it was after… but I’ve gotten a few blips of us “flirting” (on accident) with one another during the war LMAO.

I met her in college. She has a doctorate in Engineering (yes this has changed since the last time I’ve talked about her degrees) and a Master’s in Design. Truthfully, I think that she believes these are just pieces of paper to her because shes so smart. She’s a content creator and a musician just like me, except her content differs a little from mine. Although we do a lot of content together, sometimes she does do a solo video on her own channel (do I still help her with them? Of course). She grew up doing a lot of modeling, so she’s a fashion designer who’s also an engineer LMAO. She’s made/put together all of our outfits for events and made sure we were coordinated, and she also rebuilt a vintage car into a hybrid… don’t ask me how she did it. She’s smart as hell. But, otherwise, her and I make a lot of content together rather than separately.

Rise of the Guardians
I meet Pearl when we’re both still alive in this DR. She’s the daughter of a fairly wealthy family, and we meet because my family does business with them. When she becomes a guardian, she becomes the guardian of imagination and has powers to manipulate the clouds. Thus, she uses her powers to create imaginary friends for kids out of the clouds (thank you Ally once again for this idea it’s still the best concept I’ve ever heard for her). Again, she’s extremely smart in comparison to everyone else, especially amongst the other guardians.

Detroit: Become Human
She’s so freaking cool in this DR… She is a state renowned self defense trainer for all age ranges. She mostly works with police officers and has scheduled training sessions with the Detroit police department, thus I see her a lot at work and it makes me happy. On her off days though, she’s a model, a dancer, a mechanic (more so that she just works on our cars because we have older vehicles), and so much more. She really just has these things as hobbies, because her self defense training takes up most of her time.

Better CR
I haven’t talked about this DR much, so this includes a small yap of how we know one another.
This version of her is most similar to the Youtube DR version of her, just as far as background and such goes. Except instead of meeting in college, we meet in elementary school and become extremely close. In late middle school, however, she moves to the east coast (family stuff), but we promise to always stay in touch. And we do! We text nearly every single day while she finishes her grade school on the east coast. Once we both get to college, we finally reunite, and after multiple long distance visits and finishing college, she decides to move back home with me :) anyways back to the planned yap…
She is an apprentice fashion designer and gets to travel a TON (I, of course, come with on a hand full of trips heh), but most of the time she likes to just hang out with me whenever we can. She has so many hobbies like the ones in other DRs and loves keeping her mind engaged.

Cult Coven of the Lamb
This DR is pretty new compared to a majority of my DRs. This one is based on Cult of the Lamb, but instead of a cult it’s a witchy coven type community and we’re all anthropomorphic creatures. It’s really cool. It’s @autumngremlin’s idea /pos
Pearl here is an anthro cat! Her powers are most similar to the cheshire cat. I like to describe it as: she can manipulate the way a person’s mind perceives or processes the world around oneself. So, for example, if someone struggles with body dysmorphia, she can manipulate their mind’s way of perceiving their body into a more positive way! Plus, her powers are really nice when someone is trying to influence or infiltrate the coven and cause harm.

How to Train Your Dragon
I’m 90% sure this is my newest DR out of any of these. In this one, Pearl is of course a dragon rider, and lowkey her strategizing and technical knowledge competes with Hiccup at this point (he’s probably being channeled and reading this flabbergasted). She has a rare “Reef Fury” which is a type of tidal class fury (inspired by this post) and she created a full saddle and suit that allows them to fight underwater. I find it insane and really freaking awesome.

The people who harsh on non-sharing self shippers for protecting their peace or say soulbonders are crazy are the same people who are anti-shifters and call shifters and channelers delusional/insane.

Non sharers KNOW they don’t “own” a character. We KNOW other people out there are self shipping with the character. That doesn’t mean we don’t have the right to block those people to protect our mental health. ESPECIALLY when a majority of NSers are using self shipping as a coping mechanism or see their relationship in a real way.
There’s nothing quite like a reality shifter figuring out what their middle name (or just name in general) was supposed to be. The speed at which all those scripts change is astounding.

There’s something I don’t understand with a lot of Pearl art I’ve seen over the years: smoking.
I get that this is a headcanon amongst a lot of people, that Pearl would smoke, but I don’t really get it. She’s the ultimate perfectionist, how would smoking fit into that. PLUS SHE GETS GROSSED OUT BY FOOD… HOW WOULD SHE ENJOY FILLING HER LUNGS WITH SMOKE AND TAR 😭
Anyways, that’s my rant for the day. You don’t gotta smoke to be cool kids. Don’t do it 💔
