How did you choose your voice on your talker?

I listened to the sample for each voice i thoght i might like and then out of those I downloaded the top 4 or so choices and then i typed out a long message in my AAC and played it with each of those voices until i settled on one! I got comment before asking why i use child voice and reason is that it sound closest to what we can hear of my “natural” voice, plus the child voices sound more expressive and real wich i like!

I had a meltdown today and nonvocal times, but I wanted an AAC communication tool, so I made one when I was recovering. It’s a widget you can install in an iPhone, with a menu of buttons with simple labels. When you choose one, it uses the speech voice in your phone to read out a longer message explaining the thing you want to communicate, and displays it on the screen too, so people can read it too.

I know there’s like apps and stuff, but i like how DIY and customisable this is. You can edit it to have any buttons you like, or any messages, or do different things. You could even have a button that calls someone or sends a tweet to someone or plays a favorite song or pretty much anything. Workflow is really neat for making stuff like this.

Click here to install it! The workflow app is totally free (actually made by Apple even) I know if you have android you can make similar things in Tasker app but this thing isn’t compatible so you’d have to DIY

This is a new voice I am trying out for me, it is actualy the first adult voice I have ever used! It is the Canadian English voice Melany at two pitches higher then normal! It sounds so grown up hehe very smooth sounding! I think I will use it when I go to my surgical consult apointment Tuesday! What we can kinda hear of my “natural” voice it is very “childlike”/young sounding (I’m also a a very small person in size so that’s probaly why maybe) so I usualy use a child voice at one pitch lower or a teenage voice!
