Do you have any tips on clothing ruffles?
Sure! I’ll do my best to explain what I do.
I start with wherever the fabric is hanging from- for example, on a skirt, I’d start with the waistline. (If it’s extremely ruffled, make the line all squiggly.)
Then I draw the bottom of the fabric- the rufflier it is, the easier it is to draw, believe it or not. All you have to do is make tight squiggles. If you’re drawing something less ruffled, it’s harder to guess where it will fall.
Then you just... draw straight lines connecting the top and bottom of the fabric. Make sure to keep in mind which direction the fabric is going.
If it’s very ruffled, add more short lines around where the fabric bunches together.
And finally, make sure to add lines underneath to show that it’s 3 dimensional!
If any of this is confusing, simplify it like this:
Think about the basic shape the fabric would make and add ruffles from there.
I hope this helped!! If anyone is confused or has more questions about how I do something just ask!
