I got a cameo from Ned Brower asking for a pep talk for my upcoming EdD cause I’m a bit nervous. And I expected it to be about the same length as his others (1-2 min).
I just got it and he spoke for six minutes giving me advice about going back to school while balancing real life, he told me I already did the hardest part by applying and getting in, and he also reminded me at this stage the professors want me to succeed and that they’re seeing me as a future colleague and not a student.
Also he said they’re getting ready to film S3 so I guess Jesse is back.

What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding?
oh man, everything vampire i've ever read. twilight, carmilla, dracula, the anita blake series, true blood, anne rice, what we do in the shadows... but also all my stories have influence from east asian and chinese mythology and culture because i'm a tad obsessed lol
What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, or help the reader grow as a person?
in avof, the mcs are mostly trying to survive, figure out who they are, and stop an apocalypse. as the writer, there were a lot of themes i wanted to explore including self-discovery and self-acceptance, found family, accepting that you are worthy of love--and if the readers can learn about themselves or grow as people from that, then that's wonderful. i know i certainly grew while writing it.
How many chapters is your story going to have?
35 chapters plus a few bonuses~

When did you start writing?
according to my mom i was telling stories before i could write and she would write them for me. my earliest memories of it are writing short stories and novellas in 2nd-3rd grade

MJ and Jason definitely have a sibling dynamic. They even picked up each other's expressions and body movements to the point where sometimes they move in sync. Jason absolutely refers to MJ as his sister and reams out anyone who tries to say otherwise. MJ is pretty much the same way whenever people try to say they're not brother and sister.
She’s a student at Midtown with Peter and Gwen. She’s Gwen’s best friend, but she also has a crush on Peter. She absolutely refuses to acknowledge it and to talk about it, though.
She’s “not obsessed with him”, she’s “just very observant”, so she understands Peter is Spider-Man when the Lizard attacks Midtown.
She’s working at Oscorp, but will stop after Gwen’s death because it hurts her too much. So after that, she’ll work at a coffee shop.
She’s living next to Peter and May with her mother; her father got out of her life when she was really young because of his alcohol problem. He came back shortly after Gwen’s death, so MJ plans to move really soon because she doesn’t want to have to deal with him.
being me is very hard because i try to be confident and badass but i’m also 5 foot 3 and have adhd. like yes please be wowed by me i’m a grown ass woman who crawled up onto her kitchen counter today to get something on a high shelf and then forgot what it was i was supposed to be getting so i just sat there for five minutes thinking about the time i saw wild mountain goats just vibing on the side of a cliff face in the north cascades and how it was so wack that they could just stand there like on nothing, and then i remembered i was supposed to be getting something, but i couldn’t remember what i supposed to be getting so i got down, but as soon as i got down i remembered i was just supposed to get a fucking packet of top ramen. anyways who want me

IN THE LAST YEAR SINCE THANOS WAS DEFEATED, WHAT HAS YOUR CHARACTER BEEN DOING?
School had always been what Mary Jane did best. She’s recently gone back to school to get another degree. She’s currently working on her Masters in Chemistry at Empire State University. MJ has no clue what to do with a Chemistry degree, but school has always been her specialty. Three months after the defeat of Thanos, MJ’s sister, Gayle, tragically died in a car accident. It took a toll on MJ, but she rarely speaks of it. Her sister’s death was actually her motivator to work harder in school and to finish her second degree.
WHAT HAS YOUR CHARACTER LEARNED IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE DECIMATION AND THE DEFEAT OF THANOS?
Mary Jane was devastated by the decimation. She lost her best friend, one of her partners in crime. That day, Peter didn’t show to school. She remembered him being on the bus, and she saw the circular spaceship looming downtown. MJ had a sick feeling in her stomach. Peter was always okay, and Mary Jane told herself she’d see him that night or the next day. However, it never happened. Even now, Mary Jane can’t explain what happened, but people were literally disappearing before her eyes. The next day, millions of people were reported missing across the world, and she her favorite web-slinger was among those missing. She learned how precious life was, and that everything around her was merely temporary. MJ learned to live her life to the absolute fullest. Her mom always told her to hug her family and friends close and hold them tight, but Mary Jane never knew how important that was until the people she saw everyday were gone.
A NEW THREAT ON THE WORLD LOOMS NEAR, SO TELL US – WHAT DOES YOUR CHARACTER FIGHT FOR?
The last person that Mary Jane truly fought for was her sister. Gayle was Mary Jane’s world, and she loved her more than anyone on this Earth. After losing Gayle, MJ actually gained more fight. Her sister may be gone, but she is still the biggest driving force for Mary Jane. The red-head fights for her friends as they are the only things left for her, but Gayle will always be her number one.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Mary Jane hasn’t spoken to her father since her mother left him when she was in the eighth grade. She has no clue if he’s alive or dead, and she could care less where he is. MJ is extroverted, and her brain is her most powerful tool. Since moving into an apartment by herself, she sleeps with a baseball bat hung on the wall by her bed.
