Welp, here we go again.

I sit here typing this at the heaviest that I have ever been. Never before in my life have I weighed over 300 lbs. it’s embarrassing and honestly it makes me want to cry every day. I hate the way that I look and I hate the way I feel and I want to change but thinking about how far I have to go and where I am right now is incredibly disheartening. I know that the longer I wait that the worse it’s going to continue to be but it’s hard. It’s so hard.

I don’t mean that dieting is hard, I’ve done diets before, successfully and I’ve lost 30 pounds in a matter of two months before but I’ve always stopped, eating well, stopped going to the gym as soon as I say the slightest hint of a plateau. I’d look in the mirror and I’d see no difference. The scale would say I’m done 39 pounds but my clothes and my mirror would say other wise so I’ve always sabotaged myself. I know this sounds stupid but I’ve always found some sort of sick comfort in my weight. I am 26 years old, I’ve got depression, anxiety, and I’ve never been anyone’s girlfriend. I’ve always been able to chalk all of that off to my weight.

“Oh I could have a boyfriend easily if I wasn’t fat, that’s the only reason I don’t have one.”

“She would totally be interested in dating me and not that other person if only I was skinny.”

“If I was thinner, if I was healthier I’d be happier. I’m only unhappy because I’m fat.”

For as long as I can remember I’ve used my weight as my shield. It’s not me they don’t like it’s my weight. I don’t put myself out there because my weight would turn them off. I’m scared because if I lose the weight, I won’t have anything to hide behind. I won’t have anything to blame my problems on any more. I’ve had a very unhealthy relationship with food and with diets and weight my whole life starting around 8 years old thanks to my mother, but that’s a story for another time.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m done letting fear control me. I want to take back my own life. I want to be healthy and strong and I want to be able to wear what I want to wear and do what I want to do and date! God I want to find someone to date.

I’m looking for an accountability partner, someone to keep me in track, someone to kick my ass and make me go to the gym and make sure that I’m eating healthy and that I’m eating and drinking enough. I would love someone around my age with a significant amount of weight to lose but I’m not too picky. I just need someone, nipping at my heals that won’t let me give up. Someone that will make me keep going even when I see nothing changing or when I get scared again and want to quit.

Live Out The Details “If you listen to the Word and don’t live out the message you hear, you become like the person who looks in the mirror of the Word to discover the reflection of his face in the beginning. You perceive how God sees you in the mirror of the Word, but then you go out and forget your divine origin.  But those who set their gaze deeply into the perfecting law of liberty are fascinated by and respond to the truth they hear and are strengthened by it—they experience God’s blessing in all that they do.” James 1:23-25TPT Listening to and living out God’s instructions are as vastly different as night and day. As a mother and wife I’ve learned a great phenomena— I can give a child or Lou detailed instructions to the minutest detail. The completed task will not even remotely resemble what I spoke out in instructions. —Why? Because the ‘heard’ words translated in the brain and the living out instructions are vastly different.   EXA: ‘Please put these towels away in the bathroom, these in the kitchen, and these in the half-bath.’ I arrive later to find all three types of towels in the bathroom and not even in the cabinet. There’s a person I know who has attended church for about eight years. Often, (per what they’ve told me,) they’ve frequently gone forward to the altar, reads the Bible daily and prays. Jesus said, “You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?” Matt 7:16NASB. As the accountability partner, — ***I’ve asked about loving others— reply, “They get what they give.” ***Why so controlling— “Tired of being told what to do. It’s my turn to run the show.” ***Where does all the anger and rage come from— “People don’t understand what I want and need.” I’ve completely backed out our relationship. Why? This person may look at the mirror of God’s Word but doesn’t understand the “divine origin,” —where they come from and whose they are. All this person desires is within grasp, but by not gazing “deeply into the perfecting law of liberty,” they squeeze life with bare hands between their tightly closed fingers, like a squeezed banana. Living out the details is impossible without surrendering our personhood-mind-will-emotions to Jesus. I experienced this week again, my lack of personal control of Debbie. When I silently cried out to Jesus, the situation began turning. His power lifts me out of my weakness. For lovers of Jesus living out of Him is a situation by situation, moment by moment series of choices. What about you? Can you? Will you turn to Jesus to help you live out the details? It’s your choice. You choose. PRAYER: Father God, I can’t make it on my own. I think these readers are probably in the same boat with me.
