What is acecourse (ace discourse)? I know this is aphobes type, but who exactly are they

“Ace discourse”/acephobia is a general term for anti-asexual rhetoric. It can include invalidation of the existence of asexuality, invalidation of aces’ experiences of attraction, invalidation of aces’ experiences of oppression, exclusion of aces from the queer community, and more. Some of it, particularly the rhetoric about ace exclusion, is recycled bi-exclusionary rhetoric, but some of it is original. 

Acephobes can potentially be anyone. Many acephobes are cishet people who believe asexuality doesn’t exist or that aces need to be fixed. Some acephobes are in the queer community and are often the loudest voices in trying to exclude aces. Some acephobes are even in the ace community themselves, although this tends to be a lot rarer in my experience. Acephobic aces might try to exclude aces from the queer community because they’ve been convinced by exclusionist arguments that acephobia doesn’t exist. Acephobic aces are also sometimes gray-antagonistic and try to force graysexuals, demisexuals, and other “non-100% pure aces” out of the ace community (but it’s worth noting that queer acephobes and cishet acephobes can also be gray-antagonistic and grayphobic). 

If you come across acephobia or acephobes online, my personal advice is to just block them. If you really want to engage with them, try to stay calm, civil, have a discussion in good faith. Keep in mind that you’re probably not going to change their minds, which is why it’s usually a better idea to just block them. 

(One last thing: you asked about ace discourse, which is what I focused on and why I kept using “acephobe” instead of “aphobe”. When you’re focused on aces specifically, not the whole aspec community (which includes aces and aros), it’s better to use “acephobe” in that situation, because using “aphobe” but only talking about aces ends up erasing the aphobia that aros face.)

deciding child characters are ace is pretty fuckin weird for how much you’re considering their sexual pref. this is the difference between being able to say children can be lgbt—that’s not based on sex. asexuality is. also lucy steel is a sexual abuse victim so saying she’s just ace instead of addressing any trauma she might have is fucked up

jee compared being ace to never having sex/being an “incel”

jee also stole from an ace vendor to ensure they don’t get the money they need to support themselves and/or their family { and even encouraged their followers to do it }. jee crosstags aphobic posts into #ace positivity, #ace pride etc, so i’d recommend blocking jer if you don’t want to see that bs while ur looking 4 positivity. also report jer if you can, i already have !

Aphobia is so bad on YouTube. I made a comment light hearted funny comment on a lgbtq+ meets Christians video something like

Video: sex is given to us to enjoy

Me, an asexual: yeah... sure

(Nothing wrong for liking sex, I don’t mean to offend anyone)

And dear god. There was some not knowing what it is, and some aphobes and one where this person didn’t really understand it and worded his question weirdly (saying something like normal people) and they were trying to say they didn’t mean it like that, just meant it like the general population.

And then there were asexuals responding and whatnot.
