The rainy season is just beginning, but they can weather the storm in each other's care, and see the sun together when the clouds finally part.

Hanging in the Balance AU

The circus is a great place to work, breathe, and enjoy life itself. Character A, the owner of several fairgrounds which they rent out to traveling groups, always find their way back to the benches at some point or another to watch the acrobats swoop and twirl high above them. Much to their horror, they receive a call one day about an accident in one of their rented fields regarding an acrobat who had (seemingly impossibly) hung themself from the center of the tightrope.  What makes Character A’s stomach churn isn’t the amount of paper work that would have to be signed, but the words that are carved into the bottom of the acrobat’s feet: “WALK FASTER.”

-Marinette is the most famous acrobat in Paris, using the stage name Miraculous Ladybug. She's the most talented acrobat France has seen in years- only, no one knows who she is. She has hundreds of adoring fans. None of them know her name or face. She wears a mask, and manages her own career and shows. -One day, she hears about a new masked acrobat- Chat Noir. He's not as good as her, but he's definitely above average. Out of curiousity, she uses her Ladybug mask and influence to watch one of his private performances. She's impressed. -After the show, she gets the chance to talk to Chat. She thinks he's a nice person, if a bit flirty. Chat, meanwhile, falls instantly in love with her. -The next day, she accidentally walks into a stranger in a coffee shop, spilling her drink over him. She then realizes in horror that it's the famous model Adrien Agreste. She expects Adrien to be mad, but instead he's quite nice about it, even offering to buy her another coffee. They make small talk, and Marinette ends up developing a crush on the model. -Meanwhile, Ladybug has interacted more with Chat Noir. He openly flirts with her, and they've become close friends. One day, Chat Noir suggests they team up to join a prestigious co-op acrobatics competition. Lady agrees, and they easily dominate the competition, advancing to the finals. -However, during their last performance, Chat miscalculates, and slips- Ladybug knows he won't be hurt, but realizes his mask will fall off. Without thinking, she abandons her position to shield Chat from the audience's view. To her shock, Chat Noir's mask falls to reveal him as Adrien. You can guess what happens from here. -In the end, they get second place in the competition, but they don't mind, because the whole ordeal has awarded them with something that means so much more.
