the way people talk about brain damage is so . cruel . including lead poisoning (which btw affects black people, who can hear u , much more) , past child or domestic abuse , disability , drug addiction , accidents (chemical inhalation or car crash etc) , dementia & Alzheimer's , assault . there are no ways to have brain damage from a positive cause and yet ppl r always jumping out of their seats to mention unprompted how they think brain damaged people shouldn't have rights or blame systematic discrimination on us for being "stupid" . no , I don't think the president of the US is murdering people because he has brain damage , it probably has to do with being a rich white cishet man with a great deal of power . but what do I know .

Can we talk about how ableism in medical spaces is DANGEROUS to peoples health? And how normal it is?

Being perceived as stupid or unaware of your care often means doctors don't give you the care you need because they don't believe you know what you're talking about. They think you don't know your own reality.

And when people, such as myself, have brain injuries or other reasons why they genuinely can not process information without assistance (or at all), we are so vulnerable to medical gaslighting and malpractice.

Asking questions or needing time to understand information or needing it explained in a simpler way doesn't mean we don't know what we're experiencing. We know. And we need to be taken seriously.

i was talking to my friend about accessibility in silksong and i realized the reason i love gta v so much is because i now know i love combat games but i had no idea because so many of them are inaccessible

games do not have to be easy to be accessible, but games that are "easier" or have difficulty levels are so much more accessible for people with neurological disabilities :3

having auto-regen, autoaim for console, mission skip options, all on by default makes gta v a game i can play without getting frustrated or overwhelmed or feeling bad about myself because i have to turn on an "easy mode"

in conclusion, low difficulty games (and games with difficulty options!!) are in my opinion as necessary for an accessible gaming world as colorblind features and captions. i love you gta v for being accessible to me however unintentionally!

i went to hot topic irl style and i was really anxious and i used my coping skills without shame and i didn’t let the hidden symbols overwhelm me and i/we got some cool stuff and we asked if they had an MLP section because pinkie really wanted something but the pony stuff was scattered but i was brave and i asked even though i was scared of being annoying and the sales associate i asked looked a little annoyed but wasn’t mean and i didn’t collapse or become evil and i got overwhelmed at checkout and i was worried i was gonna have a meltdown but the cashier was really patient with us and helped me figure out what i could get and it wasn’t the exact perfect assortment of items but i tolerated the ocd brainworms and used the skills i learned at illuminati academy and now im. still having a hard time. but i did a really good job. and my system is proud of me. and my bio mom is proud of me too.

Anyway, my SEND worker nearly made me cry today so you're all hearing about this.

I was making self-deprecating jokes about how stupid i am for needing to carry soft toys around with me all the time to regulate my emotions and how I don't look like my peers (physical disability + clothing style influenced by sensory needs and gender.)

It's the first time since my brain injury (or ever) that anyone other than my mum told me, face to face, that it's okay to be me. Even if I look very different to my peers.
